CEDAR SHAKE COTTAGE ON 5 PARK-LIKE ACRES

I’m typing this from a hammock on the property of a house I rented for the weekend in Germantown, NY.

The owners of this property have taken great care to ensure that your stay here is relaxing and stress free, regardless of the reason. The house is decorated with a rustic elegance, yet offers all modern conveniences. My intention was to escape the stress of NYC for a few days, but when sudden work obligations came up, I was able to tackle them with ease.

Although the house sits close to the road, this is a non issue once on the property. There is a feeling of seclusion and space. In fact, I am planning another trip here in the winter to ski and find the access to the road quite convenient.

There is a wonderful garden here and the owners encourage the renters to take advantage of it when possible. I’m told that the owner is a chef and the well equipped kitchen is evidence of this fact.

The house also boasts 2 wood burning cast iron stoves, a fire pit out back, and plenty of wood.

I highly recommend this property. It’s lovely for one, a couple, or a group. The only downside is that once people discover all the merits of this place, the schedule will fill up fast!

For a long weekend, 8 of my friends decided to rent this house. It was the perfect escape from NYC! The house is amazing! It has a great kitchen for cooking, comfortable living space, can sleep 8 comfortably. If the house itself was on a small plot of land we would have still had an amazing time. The bonus is the property! Enough space to have a full lawn bowling game going on, sit by the fire pit, and throw the football plus room to spare. I can't say enough great things about this place and will definitely be going back!!!!!

After scouring all of the other vacation rental sites for weeks, HomeAway delivered the best option we could have ever asked for.
When we arrived on Thursday night, there was a gift waiting for us with birthday hats, kazoos, ingredients for s'mores, and a bottle of wine (we were celebrating my wife and her best friend's bday). That kind gesture set the tone for out stay. We were immediately sold. The house is so well stocked with amenities that it feels like the owners have just stepped away for the weekend.
I was very impressed with the detailed instructions for using the wood stove and the electronics. The kitchen is also fully stocked with the best of the best cooking utensils. The owner was always an email or phone call away with any questions we had along the way too.
It is pretty close to a main road, but the backyard (with nothing behind it) will give you plenty opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. Even the firepit out back was setup with fresh firewood for us to use.
I highly highly highly recommend booking this place for a weekend away. AND only 2ish hours away from NYC!
