Three private bedrooms, three private bathrooms and a couch that makes into a bed equips a total of eight comfortably. Enjoy the two person whirlpool tub. Sink into egyptian cotton sheets in the comfort of your queen size bed and relax after a day of fishing, hunting, hiking or a game of golf. Play pool or ping pong in the converted garage/game room. The horse shoe game and washer toss is also a favorite of our visitors.

The waterfall and kio pond provide relaxing sounds as you sit on the patio or balcony.. The spaceous living room has a lit fireplace, with comfortable recliners that ease you into confort while watching your favorite show on the large screen television. Enjoy the wildlife and the quiet sounds of nature.

Cook steaks on the outdoor gas grill while you watch the deer, birds and butterflies on the patio! or roast a marshmellow in our fire pit. Our fully equipped kitchen also provides an opportunity to cook that special meal or just snack. Just a step away is the 8'X40' balcony to eat that evening meal or early cup of java. A handicap ramp and lift chair allows easy access for our handicapped visitors in the home.

Peaceful, seculuded, getaway near nature: Plan a vacation in this quiet, private setting deep in the woods. This home is located on thirty acres to roam. Only one mile to Murray 23 on Lake Texoma; swim or enjoy its floating fishing dock (there is no beach). Trout fishing, hiking or kayaking just few miles away at Blue River, a paradise for nature lovers.

Located just a couple of hours north of Dallas or south of Oklahoma City makes this a great place to drive to for a weekend or to spend a vacation. Give us a call!

Wildlife and waterfall : many enjoy the abundant wild birds, butterflies and deer and native plants this area has to offer. We recently built a small waterfall by the kio pond and will be adding plants for butterflies in the spring.

Family Get away: In this day and age we are seeing the majority of our guest are taking time to be with family and doing things together.

Oklahoma Hills Vacation Home is very popular because of its rural setting and opportunity for families to communicate without the hassel of their busy daily lives. Families can eat together, cook together, play together and enjoy one another as they relax in this comfortable setting.

About Donna Pope

John and I moved to Tishomingo with our two children (now grown) many years ago after he finished his tour in the military. John was raised nearby and when we moved here I fell in love with the people, lakes, rivers and woods. Having grown up on the bare plains of South Dakota, I was delighted to move to such a beautiful area. John is retired from his pallet building business, and enjoys watching television and talking to his two dogs. Donna is a Cosmetology Instructor and manager of a beauty college. She is looking forward to retiring soon and spending more time spoiling great grandchildren, gardening and meeting visitors.

We fell in love with the property and built the home so we could enjoy being in the country. It is located one mile by road to Lake Texoma and only nine miles to Blue River, which makes it ideal for fishing, hiking and swimming. The woods are full of wildlife, birds, wild grape vines and dogwoods that add beauty to the ever changing seasons. When John and I moved to this area we found the people to be friendly and down to earth. We can go fishing, hunting or hiking close by and we love it!

What makes this chateau / country house unique

This home is peaceful, quiet and homey. You will enjoy natural spring water as you bath in the two person jetted tub in the John Wayne decorated room. Located deep in the woods it has large rooms and a balcony to kick bac and enjoy nature. Listen to the sound of the waterfall at the koi pond while you enjoy eating on the balcony. A full kitchen and dinning are provide plenty of room for the whole family. Each room is cheerfully decorated with photos of western heroes. country western singing stars Miranda Lambert has a store in Tishomingo. Many visitors enjoy the one mile hike to Lake Texoma to fish or swim. Blue River provides trout fishing in the spring and fall and other game fish during the summer. Sipokni West (old west replicated town) and Fort Washita (confederate fort and Ntl Historic site) are close by. The White House (listed on the Natl Hicorical sites) is the former home of the first govenor of the Chickasaw Indian nation is just 2 miles away. The Capital of the Chickasaw Nation and old council house and museum are located in Tishomingo five miles away from this vacation home.

The 1907 Chickasaw Bank and museum (Natl Historic site), a roller blade and splash park and Murray State College are also located in Tishomingo.Casino and live concerts are about thirty five miles away. Many guests seeing the wildlife at the National Wildlife Refuge nearby. Turner Falls and the Chickasaw Center and boating and water sports are just a short drive away.

Valentines Day, Forth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any time is a great time and a great place to get away from it all! A small waterfall, balcony and patio for guests to relax and enjoy nature. Deer frequent the property. Surounded by 14,000 acres of Wildlife Refuge just one mile from Lake Texoma and only nine miles to Blure River. Deer, quail, coyotes and wid hogs abound. Enjoy a game of pool or horse shoes or ping pong in our converted garage/ game room. Disk golf, children's splash park and play ground or picnic or fish in Pennington Creek in Tishomingo. Three Museums, BBQ, Dairy Queen and Mexican Restaurants, quaint clothing stores are just a few of the places to visit. This is the place !

Local events, such as the Chickasaw Festival, Spring and Fall Trout Tournaments and 4th of July Parade and rodeo, Chickasaw Govenor's Home, Arbuckle Simpson Nature Festival in April, Reagan Country Music and Spokini West (Old western town) make the visit enjoyable.

Pets must be caged when owners are away. Property damage insurance will be required when the owner is bringing a pet or any time the owner determines that insurance is necessary. A massage therapist is available on the weekends BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. This individual does the Swedish massage or deep tissue massage in your room or in her facility. The charge is $85. for one hour. Smoking is allowed on the balcony or outside of the home.

19th wedding anniversary

The following is a letter to the Capital Democrat newspaper, Tishomingo, Okla. on April 18, 2013 from Daren and Mary of Kansas and is posted with their permission.

We celebrated our 19 wedding anniversary in your community this past weekend. We had a great time visiting with your local people, shopping in your stores, and eating some really good food.
We were very pleased to find that your local airport runway was newly resurfaced. This allowed us to fly directly into Tishomingo instead of landing in a nearby town and commuting in. We appreciate the value your community is putting into general aviation.
We hope that you are able to continue to implement improvements in your local airport. What will attract pilots is a good restaurant and a form of transportation to get there once landed. This most often is found in a courtesy car located at the airport for the pilot use.
You already have the good restaurants. We think we ate the best BBQ we have ever had at one location, and the homemade salsa at another was fantastic. I think you would be surprised at how much more your airport would be used if there was some type of transportation offered up landing. (A restroom would be great too!)
We would also like to say "thank you" to Donna Pope for her wonderful hospitality. Her accommodations and willingness to arrange transportation for us played an instrumental role in us choosing your community as our destination for the weekend.
We were bless with a perfect anniversary weekend. Thank you.

Cowgirl Birthday Reunion/Celebration

Had a most excellent stay at Oklahoma Hills vacation home. I had never been to Tishomingo, OK before-beautiful country. It was a birthday celebration getaway for cowgirl friends who came up from Texas. The house is very private, exceptionally clean, and well-thought out for guests. The rooms are spacious and the western theme is delightful. The owner had all the amenities-ice, coffee, margarine, etc. She even baked some "surprise" birthday cupcakes for my girlfriend! This delightfully private,wooded area, with it's large deck, is brimming with songbirds, flower beds, and a koi pond. The shopping downtown is great-The Pink Pistol is packed with goodies, fun themes, and clever " treasures". We really enjoyed shopping at "tish Creative Country." Loved the sweet sales associates and merchandise too at "The Lucky Rose." The only drawback about "Tish" is not being able to get liquor by the drink at the eateries. I hope to get back to Oklahoma Hills and "tish" country in the fall with my family! I highly recommend Oklahoma Hills to anyone and any type of small group. Service and facility was exceptional!

Had a wonderful visit at The Oklahoma Hills vacation property. The owners have thought of everything and the traditional western theme abounds with history of the area. The property is spacious
and serene with songbirds, flower beds and a koi pond. The refrigerator was stocked with ice, butter spread and even coffee.

While private, it is very close to downtown where there was some excellent shopping to be had; The Pink Pistol, Creative Country, and The Lucky Rose were our favorites. There is no liquor or wine by the drink at local eateries.

Oklahoma Hills is a great spot for family or friends to gather-there's plenty to do with little effort; pool table, ping pong, large deck for spotting wild life, etc.

The rental was immaculate and in very good repair.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway

Home away from home!

This country house was perfect for a girls weekend! There were 5 of us and we each had plenty of space and then some. The large back porch was a balcony and we enjoyed 2 nights of listening to God's creatures and each other. You are in close proximity to the Blue River Fishing Area, about 10 minutes to Miranda Lambert's store, and just about 10 minutes from a gun range at another state park. We had the best time kicked back in the country and this house was the reason.

Trout Fishing Trip

The house was perfect for our father's/son's/cousin's trout fishing weekend; a total of 7 people. Best of all the property was very clean, the beds are of high quality and the owner couldn't have been any nicer. All amenities are provided and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything, except food. Our boys really liked the WiFi, nice flat screen televisions and the game room with pool and ping pong tables. The location is very convenient to Tishomingo and the Blue River. Overall, completely satisfied!
