Overview

Pachino Chateau / Country House Rental Photos and Description

waterfront villa, 400 m2, sea view, high ceilings, Marzamemi

Perfect for groups. Villa Torrefano is a 400 square meters stunning 100 year old aristocratic villa in a fabulous cliff-top position overlooking the Ionian Sea, and the island “Isola Capo Passero”, the most southern point of Italy, the place where the Ionian Sea meets the Mediterranean Sea. It would be difficult to ask for a more delightful setting. Torrefano is perfect for relaxing holidays. With the possibility of organising a cook, you might find that you will never stray very far from home, even though its proximity to the stunning baroque towns of Syracuse, Noto and Ragusa Ibla make it an excellent base for a cultural exploration of this UNESCO World Heritage area. Two white sand beaches distance only a couple of hundred meters. After passing through the gate, the first view of the villa is of green lawns and the turquoise sea. It is also possible to see the picturesque village of Marzamemi. This fisherman’s village boasts restaurants, pizzerias and shops selling delicious local produce.

Marzamemi: Heading south towards the south-eastern tip of Sicily, you find a fishing village called Portopalo. Taking the road from Marzamemi to Portopalo, but turning off before an impressive castle on the sea, one can turn left and visit the old ‘Tonnara’, one of the most scenic and extraordinary sights to be seen in Sicily. Marzamemi, which is an ancient fishing village in the extreme southeast of Sicily. The tradition of all things marine is still very much alive in Marzamemi today. Only recently has it become a popular destination for Italians who enjoy the combination of the area’s natural beaches and the vibrancy of an authentic coastal village. The village of Marzamemi boasts many restaurants, pizzerias and shops selling delicious local produce such as locally caught and processed tuna and swordfish or the famous cherry tomatoes from nearby Pachino.

San Lorenzo: San Lorenzo, which lies 2 kilometres to the north of Marzamemi, marks the beginning of one of the most beautiful stretches of the Sicilian coast. Here the shore is characterised by golden sand beaches, turquoise seas and white limestone rocks. San Lorenzo borders on the natural reserve of ‘Vendicari’. Here you’ll find a breathtaking variety of Mediterranean flora and fauna, exotic beaches and Byzantine ruins. It is also a veritable oasis of rest and tranquillity for an array of bird species.

Noto & Syracuse: Noto, a magnificent little city famous for its stunning Baroque architecture, lies 10 kilometres away. You can’t miss the traditional afternoon stroll down its main street. One of the most beautiful cities in the Mediterranean, Syracuse - famous for its Ancient Greek ruins - is situated just 40 kilometres away. The heart of modern Syracuse lies in its historical quarter, situated on the peninsula of Ortigia. The neighbouring province of Ragusa has cities such as Ragusa Ibla and Modica, which are known for their Baroque architecture and their houses that have been dug out of the region’s limestone rock. Ragusa is a popular destination for beachgoers, as it boasts endless golden sandy beaches.

Een zeer boeiende oude villa

  • 5 of 5

This villa is amazing!

  • 5 of 5
We rented the villa in July 2010, two families of 4 people each, one family from Canada, the other from Czech Republic. The villa is so spacious, one more family would fit in easily. The villa itself is absolutelly amazing, feels so magical! The porch seating area is so pleasant and the view is to kill for, it was hard to go to sleep, it was so relaxing. We walked to Portopalo for dinner several times, it was a short walk. We loved the place, the music, the food, very relaxing. We drove to Marzamemi several times, such a beautifull place, loved every moment, the restaurants, the shops, the walks. We made a day trip to Syracuse, wow, one of the most beautifull places I have ever visited. We do travel a lot, we have visited many places, this villa and this area is one of the best, unspoiled, relaxing, amazing. This villa exceeded our expectations!

Absolutely stunning location

  • 5 of 5
The Villa Torrefano is in an absolutely amazing clifftop position overlooking the sea with views towards a fort-topped island. The house itself is very spacious and has a large terrace. The caretaker was very helpful. The only small complaint we had was that, for a villa sleeping so many, it was a little lacking in kitchen equipment. Everything else was fantastic though!

Villa Torrefano

  • 5 of 5
Our stay at the Villa Torrefano was by far the highlight of our two week family vacation in Italy. There was more than enough space for all eight of us in the enormous rooms with 15+ foot ceilings and lovely tiled floors. My room opened up onto a veranda overlooking the lovely jewel-toned sea. The key holders were charming and extremely helpful. The many nearby towns and cities makes Portopalo the perfect serene base camp from which to take day trips. The only problem was that we didn't know beforehand that we should have planned to stay longer. We will certainly try to come back.

  • 1 of 5

Posizione spettacolare

  • 4 of 5
