Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I moved to Alaska in 1998 to work in Deadhorse-Prudhoe Bay, in the Arctic on the Beaufort Sea. I quickly became enchanted with this beautiful place we call Alaska! If you love the outdoors, this is the place!
Michele Palatas purchased this house in 2002
I purchased this duplex in 2002 along with two more, and made four of the units, fully furnished guesthouses. You may rent both the Cottage and the Cabin (3584196) if you require more room. Since then I have had the pleasure of welcoming guests from all over the world to our city nestled between Cook Inlet and the Chugach Mountains.
The convenience of being near to downtown and midtown, the Seward Highway heading south and the Glenn Highway heading north, make this a perfect location to get out and experience Anchorage and nearby attractions.
Thank you so much for renting us this little cottage! Jeff and I had a wonderful time here and will be back and staying here if possible.
The extra homey touches were the icing on the cake.
The Cottage was the perfect location for our family's two week maternity stay in Anchorage. Michele was quick to respond to our questions and inquiries from the very beginning and even personally stopped by to see how our stay was progressing.
The property itself was very clean, well-maintained and had many homey touches that made settling in easy and comfortable.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Anchorage for a week or longer. It was the perfect home away from home and I look forward to booking with Michele in the future. Thank you for a wonderful stay, Michele!
The cottage was very well stocked and tastefully decorated. It truly was a home away from home with easy access to the city and the sights. Michele is a very attentive owner and was great to work with both before during and after the rental. We would highly recommend her cottage. .
Incredibly FANTASTIC PLACE!!!! Just like we were at home. We went to visit our daughter who is stationed in Alaska and SHE wanted to live there!! The place was exactly like the pictures and I was proud to show everyone where we were going to be staying. It was like walking into a home away from home. We didn't have to ask for ANYTHING! Everything you needed was there. Michele even had milk and blueberry muffins in the fridge waiting for us!! And yes, after arriving after midnight, we ate every last one of them :) Potted plants welcomed us also on the porch along with places to sit outside in the quaint yard. The only thing to add is, WISH WE WERE STILL THERE!
Thank you for a wonderful week at a place everyone could call home!
We stayed at Michele's Cottage for 4 days this June. The place was a perfect size for 2 and was very comfortable. It was nicely decorated and seemed to have everything you needed. Although we didn't cook much it was all there. The washer and dryer were a nice touch along with the fresh flowers and chocolate! Thanks Michele.
We travel often. This lovely cottage may be small in square footage but owner Michele left nothing undone. All the comforts of home. Very comfortable bed with light blocking curtains for those long summer daylight hours. Fluffy towels were better than some expensive hotels. One of the best well equipped kitchens you could find. The washer and dryer was icing on the cake too. Even furnished detergent and dryer sheets. We most definitely will come back here when we return to Anchorage. Do not let the looks of the house beside Micheles location to take away from her very well kept area. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I've been meaning to write a review for a while and just forgot! I stayed here for 3 months during the winter and it was great. The property is really comfortable, and while small, does not feel cramped at all. Decor is tasteful, and the kitchen well equipped. It has everything you need for a great stay. I really liked the convenience of the neighborhood, and alley parking is even more handy. If you are without transport you are convenient to bus lines, and within walking distance of downtown. I have no idea why anyone would choose a hotel over the Cottage for a stay in Anchorage - it's way more comfortable and home like, not to mention more affordable. I would have been happy to keep renting if it were within my budget, I enjoyed it that much. I'm glad to see the neighboring unit turned into a vacation rental as well, because my only complaint would have been the neighbor. ;) (sorry Michele, had to say it!).
Anyway, I highly recommend this location - clean, comfy, convenient.
The Cottage GuestHouse is conveniently located in the Fairview District, just between downtown and midtown. Close to shopping, bus lines, restaurants, cultural attractions. Anchorage boasts the Anchorage Museum of History and Art, great restaurants, namely Glacier Brewhouse, Orso, Sacks, Simon and Seafort's, Crush, offering fresh fish caught in Alaska waters and vegetables grown in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. And my favorite breakfast at Snow City Cafe!
