The Cottage GuestHouse is a fully furnished one bedroom, side by side duplex. The guesthouse has a private entrance, fenced yard, wireless internet, flat screen cable TV, stocked kitchen, full bath, washer/dryer and parking next to the unit. The duplex is one of two duplexes on the property. Conveniently located in the Fairview District, just between downtown and midtown, the view to the east is the vast Chugach Mountain Range, and to the west, one mile to downtown Anchorage and Cook Inlet. Nearby are New Sagaya City Market, Europa Bakery and Kaladi Brothers Cafe. Convenient to everywhere! Minutes from downtown, the Alaska Railroad Depot, Joint base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska Native Heritage Center, University of Alaska, Providence and Alaska Regional Hospitals, Alaska Native Medical Center. Anchorage boasts the Anchorage Museum of History and Art, great restaurants, namely Glacier Brewhouse, Orso, Sacks, Simon and Seafort's, Crush, offering fresh fish caught in Alaska waters and vegetables grown in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. And my favorite breakfast at Snow City Cafe!

Fabulous shopping from Nordstrom to boutiques like Second Run, Blush, Skinny Raven in the SoNo District and stores specializing in Alaska hand-crafted arts and crafts, Once in a Blue Moose, Cabin Fever and many more.

Summer and Winter outdoor activities abound in the nearby Chugach National Forest, Russian Jack Park and Coastal Trail. Enjoy world class skiing at Alyeska in Girdwood. Come join us for Fur Rondy in February, and the Iditarod is a great time to come in March!

And heading out of town: Easy access to the Seward Highway heading south to Girdwood and the Kenai Peninsula, and to the Glen Highway heading north to the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, Wasilla, Palmer, Denali National Park, Fairbanks.

South to Portage Glacier and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, the old mining town of Hope and on to the Kenai Lake and River.

About Michele Palatas

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I moved to Alaska in 1998 to work in Deadhorse-Prudhoe Bay, in the Arctic on the Beaufort Sea. I quickly became enchanted with this beautiful place we call Alaska! If you love the outdoors, this is the place!

Michele Palatas purchased this house in 2002
Why Michele Palatas chose Anchorage

I purchased this duplex in 2002 along with two more, and made four of the units, fully furnished guesthouses. Since then I have had the pleasure of welcoming guests from all over the world to our city nestled between Cook Inlet and the Chugach Mountains.

What makes this house unique

The convenience of being near to downtown and midtown, the Seward Hisghway heading south and the Glenn Highway heading north, make this a perfect location to get out and experience Anchorage and nearby attractions. The two cottages in the back are only one of two in all of Anchorage. Built in 1951 to accommodate personnel at the first airstrip, Merrill Field, they have been completely renovated in the past couple years, and the Cottage is now quite cute and comfortable.

Thank you for a wonderful place to stay! Moved to Alaska from Montana and needed a place for a few months before committing long-term. This Cottage made the transition so nice, and helped me focus on other aspects of my new home. Thanks for everything!

Thank you for this great place. Everything what we needed was here. We spent the daytime with our grandson and slept the nights here in this peaceful cottage.
Tomorrow we go back to Finland, but next time when we come to Alaska to visit our daughter and her family, we would like to come to this cottage again.

My husband and I stayed for a week in this very nice cottage. It was cozy yet very open, extremely convenient to exploring Anchorage. We found the cottage to be very clean, bright, cheerful and comfortable, well equipped kitchen and nice furnishings. The pictures tell the story.
Michele thank you for your lovely cottage and kindness. We will be back.
Owner's Response: It is always my intention that your stay in either of my GuestHouses is as pleasant an experience as possible! I look forward to having you return to either the one bedroom Cottage or two bedroom Duben Place.
Best regards, Michele.
