Lauterbrunnen in Winter:
Lauterbrunnen is a perfect base for a winter holiday. For the active holidaymaker you can enjoy activities such as skiing, snowboarding, snow-shoe trekking, sledging, paragliding, curling and heli-skiing. However for the more sedate there are reduced price passes for non skiers so that you can enjoy the fabulous scenery or meet up for lunch. The revolving restaurant at the top of the Schiltorn should not be missed and further afield there are lovely shops and cafes in Grindelwald and Interlaken. It is also possible to take a boat ride on the lake year round.
Lauterbrunnen in Spring / Summer:
In Spring / Summer Lauterbrunnen is an excellent base for exploring the Jungfrau region. You can take the train up to Jungfraujoch (the highest railway and restaurant in Europe) or the cable car to Schiltorn/Piz Gloria, film location of James Bond. There are hiking and cycle paths for all abilities, the Eiger trail or a gentle stroll along the Lauterbrunnen valley, via Gimmelwald and Stechelberg. Or take bikes up to Murren and cycle back down to Lauterbrunnen. Local folklore festivals, yodelling, flag throwing and dancing displays take place in the summer months. Food is an important part of staying in the mountains. Excellent local produce such as cheese, hams and bread are all available locally. The lakes and Interlaken are only 8 miles away, with several beaches around the lake, as well as the swimming pool in the village there are plenty of opportunities for swimming, watersports and boat rides.

Ski:
Lauterbrunnen is a great base to explore the Jungfrau Ski Region. There are 45 mountain trains, cable cars, chair and ski lifts, with 213km of pistes for skiers and boarders. Also 100km of winter hiking and X-country paths, and 50km of sledge runs. From the apartment you can take the bus to Lauterbrunnen station (5 mins), then train to access skiing above Wengen, or take bus to Schiltorn cablecar (7 mins) to access Murren skiing .Grindelwald can be reached from Kleine Scheidegg (wonderful views) or drive there in approx 20-30 minutes. For the adventurous skier there is the Lauberhorn run above Wengen, or the wonderful 16km long run from the top of the Schiltorn back to Lauterbrunnen, rated as one of the best runs in the world with stunning views. Excellent English-speaking ski-schools are based in Wengen and Murren.
