We spend the rest of the year in Chicago in the very busy fields of Real Estate, Wine Sales, Hotel Management, Senior Care, Medical Research, Medical and High School. After a crazy year we all look forward to a short but special visit to our home in Maine!
Lisa Stover purchased this house in 2004
This home was ours the moment we found it! There was no question that we would enjoy many years and great times raising our family and watching it grow in this home.
We are from Florida and decided to try something different and spend a week in Maine in November! Our "what are we doing" fears disappeared as soon as we began our 1 hour 15 minute drive from Portland airport to Boothbay Harbor. Maine was a beautiful as I had always imagined and by the time we pulled into the driveway of this house, I was in love!
The house is very old but had been updated very tastefully. Very cozy, spacious and warm (important to warm weather Florideans). It sits up on a hill overlooking the ocean and I loved the sun that shined into the front of the house every morning. The first hour of the day in the front living room with my computer, coffee and sun was my favorite hour of the day! The yard was big so there was no issue with neighbors being on top of us. There is a seperate apartment above the garage and the couple that lived there were very nice.
It really was a short walk to town so we only got into our car to go exploring around the peninsula. McSegulls was out go to restaurant in town.
Loved our time, town & this house - can't even imagine how wonderful it would have been in the summer or fall.
For six old friends. The last of us had retired and we were looking for a place we could relax and enjoy some good company, good meals and laughter. Boy did we find it. This was a charming house, beautifully decorated and exactly what we were looking for. Off street parking, well equipped kitchen and dining room, and two rooms to just sit and talk. It's an easy walk to town, and Lisa's list of restaurants was right on. We used the kitchen equipment to cook a few awesome dinners. Easy driving distance to a number of fun places to visit. Note that there are two baths but only one shower. We were fine with this since we had two bath takers and the rest of us worked out a timely share. I think we would all stay here again in a heartbeat! Grocery store, gas station, post office, wonderful shops all within a half mile. Sunrise is glorious from here! Outdoor grill with patio table and chairs also right there.
The pictures & descriptions on the web site fairly present the property, so believe what you read. It is comfortable, well equipped, and has been really nicely maintained. The kitchen is great and generally the house does not feel like a "rental". We were content with our choice. Dish TV (in a separate family room) and WiFi are an added bonus. Only oddity is that the large upstairs bathroom is also the entrance to the large upstairs bedroom, but establishing some protocols works around any problems. Shower is in the smaller downstairs bathroom. (All bedrooms are upstairs.)
Location is a short walk (uphill on the way back!) from downtown. House comes complete with friendly tenants in a garage apartment who can offer local advice.
We'd certainly consider this property if we make a return trip to area.
We just got back from this picturesque town and quaint home. It's exactly as "advertised" on the website...everything we were looking for and more!! Perfect for relaxing and having a home away from home! Highly recommend staying here, you won't be disappointed. We'll definitely be back!
My husband and young son were in Maine on a family vacation and needed a charming place to stay for three nights in October. To my delight, the owner of this home allowed us to rent the place for just three nights and it worked out perfectly for our needs. The home is cosy and clean and is located within walking distance to the harbor. I'd love to go back when the weather is a bit warmer and all the stores and restaurants are open. I'd most certainly recommend this rental to anyone!
Very cozy and well-kept house afforded a relaxing time just before final holiday bustle. Would absoluelty LOVE to experience this house and town in the summer.
