Villa Romarin is the perfect location for an idyllic self-catering holiday in this beautiful and still undiscovered part of Mediterranean France. It is easy to get to from several airports: Carcassonne, Perpignan, Toulouse, Montpellier, Béziers, Girona (Spain) and a short drive from the motorway. Fully equipped with every modern convenience, this is a perfect home from home in which to relax on the terrace or discover the delightful surrounding country with its beautiful Mediterranean beaches, coastal fishing villages and fascinating remains of Cathar castles. The local Corbières hills are ideal for walking or cycling and the more adventurous might like to explore the Pyrenées. Vineyards abound for local wine tasting along with several excellent restaurants in the area. The villa has a large decked area with a private pool and stunning views of the vineyard strewn hills, and on those warm, tranquil, summer evenings you can dine alfresco on the covered patio with it's built in barbecue.
We want to let you know that we had a wonderful stay at Villa Romarin. We must say it was one of our best holidays! You should be very proud to own this lovely villa in the South of France!
The view was spectacular! Our 3 kids enjoyed the pool very much and several games which were present. As a mountainbiker it was fun to use one of the mountainbikes to ride in the hills and to go shopping in the village.
We were pleased to have the necessary accommodation in the villa and appreciated the amount of books and CD’s.
We visited the beach at Port-La-Nouvel, the market in Sigean (every Tuesday), Leucate, La Franqui, Narbonne, Lagrasse, Perpignan, Carcasonne, Minerve and Collioure even twice.
We certainly will come back the discover more of the Corbières region!
We had a lovely week in your villa.
We did have the wind on the first day but that helped us to acclimatize to the warmer temperatures. It was quite eerie how you could hear it coming up the valley! The villa is very well equipped with books, novels and guide books, DVD's,pool toys and the bikes. We enjoyed our walk every morning to the shop to buy a baguette and fruit etc. There was no need to venture any further.
Thank you once again for the loan of your property and we will certainly recommend it.
We've rented many properties in France over the years but your was absolutely the best. Clean, well-equipped, fabulous furnishings. Altogether an amazing holiday home.
Peter and Annie Jones,
This was our 4th visit to the south of France and was definitely the best holiday we've had! The villa was very clean, comfortable and spacious and the views were amazing. The kids loved playing in the pool and we had some great bbq's. Its a fantastic area to explore and we found lots of interesting markets-Olonzac and Sigean, as well as lovely beaches in La Franqui and Port La Nouvelle. Well worth a visit to the local wine caves which were amazing! The village itself has a good supermarket and a bakery for fresh baguettes and croissants. The villa is also within easy reach of the Canal du Midi-a lovely part of France, where you can stroll along the river and soak up the atmosphere. We would certainly recommend the area and the villa and hope to visit again soon.
The villa is set at the edge of a small village & surrounded by beautiful countryside & views over the unspoilt Mediterranean countryside covered in the natural vegetation with is made up of rosemary, various evergreen oak species, viburnum, pine, juniper & other native species (garrigue). This lovely villa is, modern with character, immaculate & spacious The villa has everything you need and more. It is equipped with all modern appliances including a TV that can access UK channels & wireless internet access. Plenty of CD's, DVD's, books and maps are available for use. The pool & the deck area are in full sunshine for almost the whole day & there are plenty of seating & sunbeds to use. There is a covered barbeque area with table and seating to one side of the garden. The views are stunning & you can walk from the house for miles & miles into the countryside. There are excellent bicycles available in the garage. There’s a small village supermarket & boulangerie which are about a 10 minute walk (and even quicker by bike!) from the villa. There is plenty to do in the area within an easy drivable range. We would recommend the African Safari Park & a visit to the old walled town of Carcassonne dating back to around 1000 AD which has many lovely restaurants. Tautavel is also a lovely village, with an interesting archeological museum set in a valley surrounded by hills. This is the site of the oldest hominid remains ever discovered in Europe dating back to 450,000 years ago. Also there is great white water rafting near Quillan. The Spanish border is not too long a drive away & we visited Barcelona which is three hours away. Sue was most accommodating & also extremely helpful. Dave who looks after the pool & house is very friendly & helpful too. The villa had a lovely home from home feeling about it and we felt very comfortable there during our stay. We would thoroughly recommend a stay in this lovely and very comfortable accommodation set in beautiful Mediterranean countryside.
What more is there to add to all the previous reviews than our confirmation that everything is absolutely true. Villa Romarin is by far the best holiday cottage we have rented so far. The views from the pool and bedrooms are absolutely breathtaking and much more impressive than the photographs seem to suggest. The house was spic and span upon our arrival. Pool toys, board games, books, dvd's, cd's, internet, top quality bikes, brochures, maps and city guides, ... Villa Romarin has it all and more. We have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who wants to be "away from it all".
Durban-Corbières is located in the heart of the majestic Fitou, Corbières and Minervois wine producing region. The village centre with its tennis courts, bar/restaurant, bank, doctors' surgery, petrol station, supermarket, bakery, chemist and other shops is a short, pleasant walk from the villa. For swimming and wind-surfing, the beautiful Mediterranean beaches at Leucate and Le Franqui are only 40 mins away . The renowned African wildlife reserve at Sigean is 30 mins away. Further afield are the Pyrenées to the south for walking and skiing, whilst to the north is the Canal du Midi. Wherever you go, you are not far from Cathar history and the remains of their spectacular castles, including the citadel at Carcassonne. Throughout the year there are festivals in the towns and cities such as Carcassonne, Perpignan and Montpellier. For something different there is the lure of tax free shopping in Andorra, or you may wish to cross the border into Spain to visit the Dali museum at Figueres.
Ski: Skiing is available during the winter in the Pyrenées - about 1 1/2 hours' drive.
