Beautiful cabin just built this year nestled in the Maine woods on Alamoosic lake. Perfectly serene setting looking out on Great Pond Mountain across the water. Classic Maine building with knotty pine interior. Close to both Acadia National Park (Bar Harbor), historic Castine, Bucksport, and Fort Knox. Come get away from it all.
We would like to thank you for the beautiful home that we rented.
Location is fantastic, lots of lake views, and secluded.
We enjoyed a week in this cozy home.
My wife and 3 adult children really enjoyed coming back to the home after a day of exploring North East Maine.
Great porch and we had are family meals outside looking at the wondrous views around.
Adequate kitchen and living room where we were able to prepare our own meals.
Easy access to local shopping for supplies.
We enjoyed the Canoes and Kayaks daily.
We also hiked in the immediate area, right across the lake, nr the hatchery there is a great trail to the top of a mountain that has unbelievable views of the entire area.
Owners were very helpful, if we needed assistance.
One of the most beautiful places I've been thus far in my life!!! You won’t find a better spot then this!! Calm! Peaceful! Relaxing! Fun! It’s the very definition of vacation!!!
Seriously. Best vacation ever.
My wife and two kids and I (plus our dog) somehow lucked into being the very first renters of this new property. We found it through the http://www.homeaway.com/ listing.
Jason is a contractor and built the cabin himself. It has all the nice touches that a contractor puts into his own family cabin: beautiful woodwork, lots of natural light, open and spacious. Don't let the modest appearance as you drive up fool you. It also has wonderful outside spaces, including an attached deck and a separate deck closer to the lake that the kids took over as their own.
Beautiful views of the lake and mountains beyond. Lake had very little motorboat or jet ski traffic while we were there. Kayaks and canoe were a blast. I got skunked fishing but that's probably on account of my fishing skills. The lake has smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and yellow perch. The lake was warm enough for swimming. We had to pry the kids -- and dog -- out of the water for any sightseeing.
Neighboring camps were quiet. You felt completely at ease in your own peaceful world, with a sloping yard toward the lake and moss/fern covered rocks dotting the landscape. Enough trees for shade, but always spots to get sun if you want to soak it in. Each day we remarked again at how beautiful the setting was.
Close to everything you need: groceries, gas, restaurants, etc. Cheap fresh lobster 5 minutes away. We planned to do most of our own cooking -- and the kitchen set up was very nice -- but the nearby restaurants lured us out for most meals.
Very easy access to all the sightseeing wonders of Downeast Maine: Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park/Mount Desert Island, Castine, Blue Hill, Deer Island, Penobscot Narrows Bridge, Fort Knox.
I'm tempted not to give such a good review so we can have it to ourselves anytime we want to go back. It really is that good.
