Charming, enchanting and everything that we needed

  • 5 of 5
We came from Montréal, Québec, with our 2 1/2 years old boy, to enjoy the ocean and spend some time on what are the closest beaches from our home (6-9 hours of drive)! We visited Reid State Park and Popham Beach, which fulfilled our best wishes! Both places were beautiful! We had a wonderful time walking around, admiring nature's marvels and lounging on the sand. Our rest time in the house was a pure delight. The decor was charming, the little garden was enchanting and we were more than happy to find so many things to entertain us inside the house. We really appreciated all the toys and children books that channeled our kid's energy as well as the magazines and grown-ups games for us to play with at night. Everything was well-thought in this house, we enjoyed it very much. Oh! And we ate the most delicious lobster ever at Maxwell's! All in all, a lot of sweet memories to bring back home with us! Thank you very much!

Cozy Maine Retreat

  • 5 of 5
We came up to the Bath area to visit friends during part of my spring break and we were not disappointed with the "Denny House." The Denny house is in a nice neighborhood with playgrounds nearby. The first day we explored Reid State Park. Walked up through the salt marshes to the beach where the waves were strong. We saw a few surfers braving the cold and strong ocean. We returned back to Denny House to eat lunch and relax a bit before meeting our friend for lunch at the Irish Pub in Bath. After lunch, we explored the many wonderful shops in downtown Bath. The next morning we explored Popham Beach at low tide. A huge beach at low tide, you walk around a half of a mile before you get to the water. March is the season for sand dollars (but we forgot our bucket to collect too many). After our walk on the beach, we again took a break at the house and spent the afternoon in Bruinswick where we did some antique shopping. Our last day in Bath, we drove to Boothbay Harbor to walk the grounds of the Maine Coastal Botanical Gardens. Even though nothing was in bloom on that cold March day, the grounds are interesting enough with large rocks, a great winding path to the river with a meditation space at the bottom. I only wish that I lived there during the spring to see this garden bloom. During our walk there, we met a couple who gave us two driving loops in East Boothbay to explore. We went down Rt 96 into East Boothbay. When we past a purple and white church on the right hand side, we took the next left, King Philips Trail. We were to stay to the left as we drove towards the ocean. You know you are on the right road if you past two "Hobbit" like houses. Cedar shingles and unique architecture. The road leads you right to the beautiful views of the ocean and islands. If you continue on 96, you will again see fantastic views.
This house had everything we needed to be comfortable and rested. Coffe maker, full kitchen, tv, internet, and a quiet neighborhood. Looking forward to coming back here soon.

Excellent Family Get Away!

  • 5 of 5
We recently spent a week at this funky cottage. The home had everything we could ask for...clean, well decorated, quiet neighborhood close to everything. We were extremely pleased and plan on coming back next summer.
I traveled with my husband and two sons (2 & 5). The home was spacious and provided everyone with their own space. We had Wi-Fi and cable, a wonderful enclosed porch with books & games, and a deck with chairs to enjoy the evening air. We were within walking distance of a playground and a 5 minute drive to downtown bath.
Barbara was a wonderful hostess. She made sure we had everything we needed and provided us with a basket full of brochures. She made our trip to Maine a pleasure by suggesting family friendly spots to visit. We enjoyed the duck boats in Portland, a trip to Popham beach, a visit to the Children's Museum in Portland, as well as a trip to the zoo & amusement park in York.
I would highly recommend a stay at this home. It was a great value. We especially loved the original artwork! Hope you get the chance to visit. You will not be sorry!

Owner's Response: Thanks, Diana and Joe. Delighted that you enjoyed Bath and the Denny house. It is the beginning of fall in Maine. Temperate days and cool evenings. Apples abound for the picking. Leaves will be in full color by the end of Sept. through the beginning of November. Many gorgeous trails and drives through color-rich ME are quickly accessible from the Denny House. Beaches are perfect for strolls. Galleries and music venues abound. Dragonflies, hummingbirds, laughing gulls and eagles frolic in the breezes. Come visit.
