We welcome you to our upcountry retreat. Away from the city in the upcountry Rain Forest. This is a full 2 bedroom 2 bath home on 5.5 acres land. The home is a beautiful vintage style with lots of wood interior. We have a Fire Place in the master bed room, Hot Tub on the deck, with a built in BBQ area. There is a Full Kitchen separate Dining area seats 6. We keep the place very clean with nice Hawaiian style furniture, Art and amenities! Look over the photos. Feel free to email your questions. Whats Special About our retreat: The home is located up above Makawao on a small winding county road. The property has jurassic size trees and lush rain forest plants, an open grass pasture, lovely privet deck with clean Jacuzzi and BBQ. It’s very quiet at night and there are no street lights so the stars are clear and bright. The property is on 5.5 acres so you will feel comfortable and secluded in your rain forest getaway. Driving to the home, you will pass one of the best ZIP LINE activates on the Island. Be sure to stop in and consider giving it a try. You'll ride over the lush Piiholo forest and there are natural waterfalls and 5 swimming ponds below— where locals have enjoyed a cool dip for years. Makawao has some of the best food on Maui and has grown into a high quality art and boutique town. .
More special attractions : Just a short drive and you’re in the hip surfing town, Paia. From there you make a right turn and you’re on your way to Hana home of the infamous 7 Pools. After a long day of sightseeing or surfing you will enjoy a Jacuzzi and then relax and watch a movie or snuggle up by the wood fire place in the master bedroom! I truly feel Maui is the best vacation island for your Hawaii experience.

We bought this home for my family. We fixed it up and were raising Alpaca's on the land for years. A few years later we bought a classic 1953 old plantation home in downtown Makawao. We converted the home into a place where our family and friends could stay. We enjoy staying there on the weekends when no one is making use of it. When up there, It’s so beautiful I have a hard time returning to our in-town home Monday morning after a relaxing weekend.
This home is 3.5 miles up piiholo road above the quaint town of Makawao. It may not be a fit for everyone, but if your looking for quiet seclusion this is the place. Home was spotlessly clean and well maintained.
We loved staying in upcountry Maui. The house was very homey. Loved having the large deck with the grill and hot tub. We enjoyed playing croquet in the large yard. We would recommend the Makawao Bakery, The Makawao Steak House and Polli's. Polli's had the best Mango margaritas. Lisa and Brian thank you so much for getting a generator when we lost electricity . I would recommend anyone who would like to stay upcountry to stay here.

We loved staying at this spacious property that's off the beaten beachy path in Maui. Winding roads with gorgeous views & greenery lead up to this house that would be perfect for a family vacation. My fiance and I stayed for three days, and it was spacious, well-maintained, peaceful, and comfortable while deep seated in nature. It has more space and beds than you really need as a couple, but we booked it based on the amazing reviews and the fact that it was in the area that we wanted to be in. After such a great experience with Lisa and the house, we hope that someday we will return with more of a clan! We especially loved having a fireplace in the bedroom - such a treat. And the location put us near a lot of the things we wanted to see. Highly recommend.
The house and location was beautiful. we really enjoyed our stay. The only unfortunate thing was the weather. Due to heavy storm we lost power as well as the road was closed. We faced some inconveniences because of that. Also, we found out that the rent was little bit on the high side. Other than that everything was wonderful.
This well situated, very private home has absolutely accurate descriptions. It is very well maintained, well furnished and supplied to accommodate both children and adults. Kitchen is well stocked, home is very clean, basic paper supplies and cleaning products supplied. This ended up being our home for nearly a month and we could not have been more pleased. Lisa and Brian were not only friendly and kind but also incredibly helpful with information specific to the work we had to accomplish during our stay. We found the home's location perfect for exploring the upcountry, the north shore, the road to Hana, all the upcountry towns, and far away from the general resort madness. A very private setting and quiet neighborhood filled with birdsong in the morning. We had brief morning rains which gave way to sunny skies. The lack of AC was no problem at all since nights were cool and the house came with fans if needed. The landscaping is beautiful with artistic night lighting. WiFi was adequate. Many games and DVDs come with the house for your enjoyment. The hot tub looked like new, super clean and was a blessing for very tired muscles. The road is narrow with tight curves yet there are many homes up here and cars regularly going by. Makawao is a short 20 minutes downhill with funky shops, good food, great baked goods, friendly post office, helpful people and an overall spirit of Aloha. The Saturday morning Kulamalu Farmer's Market behind Long's Drugs was a special treat, rewarding shoppers with the best and freshest that the UpCountry has to offer. Mana Foods in Pai'a was a great place to load up on organic food and we enjoyed a few of the good restaurants here, about 45 minutes from the house. The drive up to the house passing horse farms and offering incredible views, often with a rainbow will have you wishing that Maui was just a wee bit closer to the mainland.
For persons and families seeking a place away from the resorts and hot beaches, this is a great quiet retreat. Just do your shopping beforehand or slip down to Makawao or Haiku for a restaurant. Since we were use to air conditioning, this older home's unit may be in need of some freon. However, once the windows were opened, the cool upcountry breezes were a relief. With no ceiling fans, and a next door neighbor, we felt uneasy about leaving all the windows open at night, so we left the unit's AC fan running for still nights.
Each morning brings out a wonderful array of songbirds that are unheard of elsewhere. The strong perfume of the eucalyptus trees is just breathtaking and worth the experience. It is a beautiful place to experience the cool, fragrant, upcountry breezes.
We used this retreat to site see the upcountry and visit Haleakala NP. The Maui Spa Retreat is also close by for those wishing a great way to exfoliate while on vacation. The hot tub was perfect and the outdoor grill made cooking easier.

2)No loud noise after 9pm to 8am
During which time the noise shall not be unreasonable disturb the adjacent neighbors. Sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be more excessive than would be otherwise. Associated with a residential area. Amplified sound that is audible beyond the properties boundaries of the short term rental are PROHIBITED
3) Vehicles shall be parked in the designated onsite parking area and shall not be parked on the street
4) No parties or group gatherings other than registered guest shall occur
5) No illegal drugs are allowed on the property.Use of any such drugs will result in the immediate eviction & forfeiture of all monies paid
6) Checkout is no later than 11am & Checkin is 4 pm unless authorized by management for any exceptions
7)Any damage or loss other than normal wear & will is charged to the guest
8)There will be a $10.00 charge for a lost key
