Esther and I wanted to make it affordable and after reading our many reviews, you will understand why are guests were surprised by what we offer. This beautiful, recently renovated cabin sits on 1+ acre of wooded land on the side of a hill overlooking the Trackrock Valley. Off in the distance, the tallest point in Georgia (4,784 ft) can be seen - Brasstown Bald Mountain and directly beneath the first and second deck, one can see a winding country road that passes a white-steepled church. You can hear cows calling out to each other and many other peaceful sounds as you drink that first morning cup of coffee on the lower deck or a cup of hot chocolate around the new fire pit. A new Amish glider was placed on the deck off the master bedroom allowing you to sit and enjoy the view.
It's hard to believe that only two hours northeast of the hustling and bustling noise of Atlanta, you can find such a tranquil setting and the opportunity to escape. Town is not that far as the picturesque town of Blairsville is only eight (8) miles away. You will pass over some of the most beautiful country you will ever see as you make your way over the winding road that leads to Blairsville.
Surrounding area: There is much to see and/or do. This is a photographer's dream ... so many beautiful pictures to capture! We have seen the Dogwood season begin to open on the mountain, a red-headed woodpecker hammering out a meal, graceful deer leap across our path and the neighbors tell us that we will see our share of black bears.
You are only minutes from Vogel State Park, Brasstown Bald, Helton Creek Falls, and the Appalachian Trail. Hiking trails are close by, horseback riding at the Trackrock Stables, tubing at Pappy's and in Helen, digging for gold in Dahlonega, boating and fishing at Notelly Lake, shopping at the Premium Outlet Mall (woo hoo!), swimming at Vogel State Park, jogging in Meeks Park, and in the Fall... the changing of the leaves and the local festivals.

Esther and I have been married over 25 years and we love people as each person is unique. Have you ever sat in the Atlanta airport and watch people as they walk by, observe their manners, and gestures.
We have met the nicest people who have become our guests and many have provided insight into how we can better accommodate future guests which is what this is about. Many are just wanting to 'pay the mortgage', this is not an issue with us as we really desire to please our guests.
Esther or Carl purchased this cabin in 2011
It was a foreclosure and when we walked through the door on Valentines Day 2011 and pulled back the drapes and saw the view, it was 'love at first sight'.
We then started to mold the cabin to our liking as Esther started to pick out the color of paint and obtained furniture from the local shops.
Choestoe Sanctuary is close to all the natural points of interest and provides a peaceful haven to rest and reflect. I am sure tthe reviews highlight this fact. Everything was added as though we were going to live here all the time as many places provide cheap items, we have not. Each time we vacation there we add sometime new.
We had a wonderful time, we enjoyed the cabin it was very clean and gave us a feeling of home. The view from the cabin was beautiful. We would definitely love to visit again sometime in the future.
What a peaceful and beautiful place to spend a week in northern Georgia. The cabin was complete with everything one would need to spend a worry free week in the mountains. Carl and Ester you both have really thought of everything. We enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner most of the time out on the picnic table looking over the mountains and listening to the birds. The Amish lawn swing was a nice touch to sit out in and enjoy the beauty of the mountains. We went to Helen Georgia (only a 40 min. drive). We had a great day in the shops and ate at one of the many German restaurants there. We also loved Vogel State park (only 6 miles away). What a beautiful mountain lake and waterfall in the park. We fell in love with Blairsville and the surrounding area. Make sure you go to Alexander's down the street they really do have everything under the sun (except food). Don't forget to eat at Jim's Smokin 'Q (only a few minutes away). The best barbeque we ever had. We definitely recommend Choestoe Sanctuary to anyone who wants to get away to the mountains. We can't wait to go back again. Thanks Carl and Ester for sharing your cabin with others so we can enjoy what you both have found in Blairsville.
We stayed 3 weeks in April just in time to see the trees leaf out. We arrived on the 9th and they had just started and by the time we left it was a beautiful
green. We went to Brasstown Bald yesterday and we spotted the white church steeple that lies just below the cottage.Take your binoculars to get a better view. This is a must see. We took in several of the water falls in the area. Anna Ruby falls was great. The town's of Helen and Dahlonega were nice and the ladies will love them. We have rented a lot of vacation property and we have to say this was as good as we have had. The owners are very attentive to your needs. Frank the gentleman they use for any problems was Johnny on the spot. This was a wonderful getaway for us. Thank You Carl and Ester.

The Sanctuary was a real home away from home.
It was well equipped and well supplied. The only thing I needed was more time
to spend at the cabin. I am telling all my friends what a find it was and that they need to try it themselves.
Everything was accurate regarding the location, layout & amenities!!
Super is the word that defines customer support and our stay.
The Wi-Fi worked Great!!!
My wife, granddaughter (age 10) and I ate at many of the top places on trip advisor and they were all great. Alexander’s was the best shopping place a “must stop” for all.

What a wonderful “home away from home,” which is the best way we know to describe Choestoe Sanctuary. We’ve stayed at many cabins in 37 years but this one provided the “homey” feeling of comfort and restfulness that makes one’s time away more refreshing and revitalizing. After a day out enjoying the local attractions, we looked forward to going “home” to all the comforts so carefully provided. As we were there when the weather was still a little cooler, it was wonderful to arrive home, and sit on the deck with a cup of coffee in hand to drink in the view and breath in the peacefulness that permeated the cabin inside and out. The cabin was so well stocked, at no time was there an “uh oh” or “oh no” but many, many times a “can you believe.” How special Carl and Esther, along with Frank, have made this home! It is a rare ability to make a vacation house a home, but, you have exceeded. Thank you, so much, for sharing your home with us.
This was our second visit (but not our last) to this rental and it was every good thing that I remembered it to be. This time, we knew what to expect so we did not have the period of wandering through the house taking in and exclaiming over, all the good features. This time, within minutes, we just felt comfortable and at home. Once again, everything was spotlessly clean, the home was well stocked with everything that we needed and there was a sense of welcome and just plain comfort. Everything had been done to assure the comfort of the visitor, right down to wood and kindling for a fire laid in the fireplace, just waiting for us to light it.
As before, Carl was so very pleasant to deal with and helpful with regard to our reservations. We have booked again and are looking forward to coming back in the fall.
Thank you, Carl and Esther, for another wonderful relaxing visit.
Owners checked up on us a lot to make sure we were doing ok. Beautiful scenery and cozy homelike environment. Definitely recommend.
Our cabin is located in the desirable area known as Choestoe Hills overlooking the Trackrock Valley. We are not a cheap cabin just affordable!
There are approximately ten (10) cabins in this area and only two are available to the public for renting.
Blairsville is 8 miles away with its many thrift stores, consignment and antique shops. For the serious shopper, the Premium Outlet Mall is about an hour away and Atlanta and Asheville, NC are two hours away. Helen, GA is about an hour away with its many Christmas stores for shopping.
Blairsville was recently selected as one of the Applachian Trail towns with the Trail close by.
Pappy's, just down the road, has water tubing ... you can actually see the tubers go by as you sit and have your meal.
You will fall in love with this area and its people ... Southern hospitality is a reality in Blairsville!
Other Activities: White water rafting, many waterfalls, hiking trails, the beautiful Vogel State Park with its many trails, lake and water falls and the Appalachian Trail are not far away.
Golf: There are two golf courses within 10 miles... Butternut Creek Golf Course is a favorite and you will find a brochure inside the cabin.
Ski: Sky Valley, NC
This is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes away.
Fishing- this would be Southern Highroads Outfitters in Blairsville http://southernhighroadsoutfitters.com/ I had a guest who hired a guide for an awesome 4 hours fly fishing lesson and loved it. They are great people and my guest's wife texted me about all the fish he caught.
