QUIET, LOVELY APT WITH EASY ACCESS TO ANYWHERE IN NYC VIA SUBWAY OR BUS!
We are offering this 1BR apartment in our 2 family brownstone to NYC visitors here for a short stay. We welcome couples, families and business travelers!
The fully furnished and immaculate 600 square foot apartment is on the garden level and has a separate private entrance. Enjoy recently finished hardwood floors and up-to-date furnishings! The apartment sleeps up to 4 adults on a Queen size bed with luxury Serta Beautyrest pillow-top mattress in the bedroom and queen size sleeper sofa in the living room with 5” memory foam mattress. See Amenities section for more information on what is provided in the apartment.
Maps, guidebooks and a list of our favorite NYC spots are available in the apartment but feel free to ask us for any personalized recommendations.
Why is renting our apartment different from most other short-term rentals in NYC?
1. Peace of mind - we can legally rent our apartment as a short-term vacation rental because our house is a 2-family private dwelling. Apartments in buildings that contain 3 or more apartments cannot be legally rented on a short-term basis (30 days or less) in NYC.
2. We live on the property. While the apartment is a separate unit with a private entrance, we live upstairs. If you have any questions, concerns or issues, we can address it right away and most of the time, in person.
3. We provide all of our guests with an information packet with valuable neighborhood and NYC information and can assist with any requests they may have.
4. We love to travel and know what is important to our guests. We professionally clean our apartment between guests and make sure everything possible is provided for our guests comfort.
We hope you will enjoy our city and apartment!
Dining and Shopping : We are located in a prime area of central Harlem on West 127 St. between 5th & Lenox Avenues just 2 short blocks from the 125 St. retail/business district. The famous Sylvia’s soul food restaurant is literally around the corner. Down the block is one of the hottest restaurants in NYC, Red Rooster, owned by celebrity chef Marcus Samuelson and the venue for President Obama’s fundraisers. Chez Lucienne, a friendly neighborhood bistro is on the same block. The latest addition is Corner Social, a casual bar & restaurant with a lively atmosphere. All 4 restaurants offer sidewalk café seating during the warmer months. If a sit down dinner is not an option, there are endless choices including the many local delis or Soul Food Buffet & Salad Bars. For those of you that want to prepare your own meals, Olive Market, a gourmet market, & Pioneer are only 3 blocks away. Retail shopping on 125 St. includes Marshall’s (Designer/Brand name discounter) , H&M, DSW Shoe Outlet, Old Navy, American Apparel, Gap Outlet, Nine West Outlet, Body Shop, & Footlocker/House of Hoops.
Arts & Culture: Culture abounds in Harlem. Just within a 5 minute walking radius, we have so much to offer:
- The world famous Apollo theatre
- The Studio Museum, the nexus for artists of African descent and for work inspired and influenced by African-American culture
- Jazz clubs such as Showman's, Londel's, Cotton Club & the newly opened Minton's.
- Shrine, world music venue, offers live music every day of the week.
- The Maysles Independent Cinema owned by the filmmaker Albert Maysles (best known for Grey Gardens) and the only independent film house north of Lincoln Center is dedicated to the exclusive exhibition of documentary films.
We are both project managers in the financial industry and moved to Harlem over 5 years ago most recently from the Upper East Side. One of us was born and raised in NYC and the other has lived in NYC for the last 20 years and we couldn't imagine living any place else! We love traveling, reading, gardening, running, skiing, tennis, good food & wine and enjoying all NYC has to offer!
Michael & Sandy purchased this apartment in 2008
We have lived here for over 5 years and this is the first neighborhood in NYC that feels like a true community to us. We are happy that the area has changed for the better and pleased that our guest have had positive experiences in their visits!
Quiet, immaculate apartment on a beautiful block of brownstones in a friendly, convenient and newly trendy neighborhood is yours to enjoy like a New Yorker. We love NYC and love to travel as “locals” ourselves which allows us to anticipate the needs of our guests to make their stay as memorable and comfortable as possible. Hablo español!
My family and i stayed at this wonderful apartment Apr 7-14.
This apartment is very big, clean and has everything you need(WIFI,TV,Iron etc). It does sleeps 4 people easily.
It is just 2 blocks from a red line subway which you can take straight to downtown.
(Central Park is 2 subway stations away or 15 min walk)
Michael and Sandy kindly provided us with fruits and a bottle of wine.(which was very nice)
Additionally, you get a good quality of sleep as it is quiet night.
The owners respond within 24 hours and are very pleasant and professional.
I do recommended this property as i think it is going to be hard to find something similar in terms of price/quality/location.
Thank you Michael and Sandy
This was my second time to stay in this apartment. I really LOVE IT!
Close to the subway, easy to go wherever you wanna go. Close to the Supermarket, restaurants, coffeshops.
Last time I came here with friends and this time with my sons. And it worked for all of us.
I truly recommend it.
Good contact with the owners.
This past weekend was the 2nd time I stayed in this ground floor brownstone 1 bedroom apartment. For me, it is all about convenience to my daughter who lives around the corner and a well maintained space. The owners could not be more accommodating. I was met Thursday by Sandy with a space heater just in case it was too cold for me. Temperature was perfect for sleeping so I did not need it. On my way out to dinner Friday evening, I noticed that one of the outdoor spots by front door had burned out so I sent sandy a text and before I arrived back, it had been replaced. After an afternoon of snow on Saturday, I came "home" that night to find that Michael had shoveled and salted and upon waking up Sunday AM, he was out there making sure everything was clean and safe again. I will definitely stay with them over and over when I visit my daughter.
We were completely satisfied with everything about this apartment rental and Michael and Sandy as hosts. They met and exceeded all of our expectations. We stayed for 9 days and were greeted with fresh fruit, a bottle of wine, and all of the information we needed about the apartment and the area. Michael and Sandy were available for questions and help if we needed but they didn't intrude on our vacation, which was wonderful. They offered us fresh linens since we were there for over a week and printed out tickets we purchased for a broadway show. Great location to hop on the subway and explore all over Manhattan, which we did every day. We felt safe in the area at all times of day, including a few times coming back after midnight. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again the next time we're in NYC.
Michael and Sandy are amazing hostess! They do more than it supposed to do!
