We adored staying here! It was cute, cozy, clean, peaceful, and close to beautiful hiking. We enjoyed using the hot tub, outside grill, and nicely stocked kitchen. It's a magical place!
The cottage was really charming! It is tucked away up on a hill, but actually very easy to access from main roads, so it was a great base of operations to do a lot in the greater Asheville and Hendersonville area. The owner clearly takes wonderful care to provide a wealth of information and very clear instructions for enjoying the property. The cottage is very whimsical - an artistic touch is applied all throughout the property, and the surroundings are very calm and soothing. The owner was very responsive in all communications. The property is extremely clean and well-stocked with all the supplies one might need. We absolutely recommend it for the independent traveler, couple, or small family who appreciates a lovely space surrounded by peaceful woods. Moonbeam bungalow is and clearly built by, and maintained with, care and attention to detail.
We came to Asheville as a Thanksgiving/ pre-deployment getaway. It is tucked away in the mountains up a windy road. The driveway is very steep, but we had an SUV so felt safe. Upon arrival we were greated with a lovely note from the caretakers, along with fresh local garlic. We love to cook, so this was quite a treat. The interior is decorated with a hippie/organic flavor. It was really great. We had to read the manual on how to work the oven though. We also flipped the breaker several times because we were using all the lights and two of the space heaters. There was no information about the location of the breaker, but we were lucky enough to eventually discover it. We were disappointed that the fire place was candles only. There were only two of us plus a dog, so we felt we had adequate room, but any more would have been crowded. The upstairs had a relaxing bathtub, but the toilet IS NOT enclosed. We had to go outside to give each other privacy. This was a little inconvenient, but would not change us wanting to come back. There were several hiking trails around as well as a winding road with streams. We had a great time exploring with our dog. The selection of tea and local honey was a highlight for me. Basic food staples and dishes were provided. We were able to make a delicious thanksgiving dinner. We loved exploring the local waterfalls, which are also dog friendly. Skytop orchard is a must visit with AMAZING cider and donuts. The Thirsty Monk had a great jalapeno beer and tasty cheese tray. Overall, I would visit again. It was great to get away from it all and be surrounded by nature.
1. The hottub was not warm when we arrived and took 2.5 days to heat up.
2. The dishwasher was full of dirty dishes.
3. The hamper was full of dirty linen.
Lovely place, close and convenient to Asheville and Pisgah National forest, perfect for hiking and waterfall exploring :)
Moonbeam bungalows are very unique and a wondrful experience. My husband and I had a wonderful time there. It was so quiet and peaceful at the bungalows, yet very close to shopping and hiking. We loved hiking to the waterfalls in the State Park then a quick drive back to the bungalows to rest up and go out to dinner in the evening. The bunglaows inside are very neat and fun. The candles are a wonderful treat in the fireplace.
This home was everything we hoped it could be. Perfect accommodations for a couple. The high speed Internet more than made up for the lack of cell phone service (they have a land line as well). The wood pile was adequately stocked for our evening fires. The laundry was a bonus after our long hikes. The showers were hot! And we even watched a couple of movies while we were there! We can't wait to get back to the Asheville area!
