Run down, not clean enough, and poor management
My Family and I stayed at Dave's Condo for 2 weeks. The condo was NOT clean enough (Rings around toilets, sink, dirty dishes in the cupboards, dust everywhere, bedding and towels/facecloths looked dirty, Glass shower Door looked gross, leftover empty bottles in the cupboards, etc). The condo is BEAT UP (every wall in the condo is banged and marked up, most of the dinner plates are all chipped, all of the towels, sheets, and bedding are badly stained, crack in the ceiling from an earthquake years ago is still not fixed). We also arrived to a broken Coffee Maker (Cheryl the Property Manager replaced it the next day but still), and a Business Card for a Strip Club (INAPPROPRIATE with young kids staying in the Condo!!!). We also had a Maintenance Guy show up at the Condo one morning before 8am! (nobody told us he was coming) He changed the battery in the keypad for the front door. Then our code for the door would no longer work. We were stuck in the Condo while the guy put in a regular lock and key. Also - the gate access from the patio to the pool is a joke. It is full of plants and not a walkthrough at all. You would think after everything that that maybe Dave or Cheryl would check up on us and see how everything was going, etc. Nope. Dave (the owner) was even in Costa Rica at the same time as us (staying in his other unit), and he couldn't even be bothered to check on us or listen to any concerns we had about the Condo!!! The actual Pacifico Complex is quite nice. We would stay there again - just not in Dave's Condo. Dave and Cheryl are both Canadians (like my Family and I) and I thought they would have the same standards of service and cleanliness as we did. Boy were we wrong! We will never stay at this Condo again, or recommend it to anyone we know.
Owner's Response: Dear future tenants,
We value all of the input that we receive from our tenants. Fortunately, we have had nothing but incredible reviews from past tenants, as can be seen by the dozens of wonderful reviews posted below. In the past 3 years of ownership, and countless satisfied customers, we are now facing our first negative review. I hope that any and all of you reading this out there will also take the opportunity to read what every single other person has ever had to say about us, which fortunately, we are proud to say has been wonderful! I guess you just can't seem to please everybody! The night of Tania’s arrival, I received a voicemail with all of her complaints. I had emailed Tania back the very next day to address all of her concerns. I went through everything she had mentioned to me and let her know that my property manager was on her way. I ended off the email by letting her know that if she was still extremely unsatisfied with our condo, I would be happy to offer her a refund and help relocate her party. She did not respond to my email. Tania had called our property manager that night around 11pm. Cheryl (our P.M.) was on the phone with her going through all of her concerns. By 9am the next morning, Cheryl arrived at the condo to go over everything in person. Our cleaner, Rosa, was there to look over the unit and give it a deep cleaning. Rosa made a comment to Cheryl saying, “Cheryl, it’s clean! What am I doing here?!” She told her that the customer doesn't find it to be clean so please go over everything again. The only concern that Tania had that was warranted was the ring in the toilet. We have an ongoing battle with the hard water in the country. We managed to have that cleaned with a little bit of additional scrubbing. There is a small split in the ceiling’s drywall. Unfortunately, last summer we had one of the biggest earthquakes in the country’s history. There are also a few minor scuff marks in the main hallway wall. This is from our tenants bringing their luggage into the unit and hitting the walls. We explained to her that we have plans to address these issues, but cannot do so while we are booked solid with renters during high season. The gate access we created off our terrace is a great convenience. We have had nothing but compliments for creating that walkway for our tenants to walk in and out instead of all the way around. Thank you for reading our response. We hope that whoever is reading this will see past one person’s opinion's.
