Photos and Description of the Suffolk vacation cottage rental 4 Star: High quality and comfortable self catering for holidays or longer stays

The Coach House & Stables complex has full gas central heating, high specification kitchens and new bathrooms & showers. Full insulation ensures the rooms are snug in winter and cool in summer. All furnishings including new beds and furniture have been chosen to enhance the features of these interesting buildings and to provide a comfortable living environment. Floors are either pine, oak or Italian ceramic tiles throughout with attractive rugs. Bed linen and towels are provided. We offer 'home from home' with colour televisions in each sitting room and all bedrooms plus radio/CD players and wireless internet. Kitchens have a dishwasher and fridge and all the essentials for cooking and eating. A shared utility room has a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer plus separate downstairs toilet. Both units have access through separate private doors. Smoke and heat alarms are fitted, we have a no smoking policy throughout. There is plenty of room for parking in the courtyard

Details for Stables 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4, 2 Bathrooms

The Stables front door leads into an oak floored hallway with large understairs storage or play area. The staircase with a hayloft 'window' halfway up, leads up to the first floor bedrooms. There is access from the hallway to the shared utility (originally a Stable) which has freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer plus a downstairs toilet / cloakroom. The other door leads into the large sunny sitting/dining room and on into the kitchen - the Tack Room. The sitting room has a leather sofa and armchair with pouffe, and table with 4 dining chairs. A gas fire for chilly evenings. The west facing, fully insulated, glass wall from floor to roof level makes the sitting room and bedroom above very bright and offers lovely views over the courtyard and gardens. The original high hayloft doors have been converted to provide additional lighting whilst still looking like the old doors from outside. Floors are either pine, oak or Italian ceramic tiles throughout with attractive rugs.

The Coach House & Stables are just a 2 minutes walk from the heart of the historic Market Town of Mildenhall which has a famous 13th Century church with hammerbeam roof of wooden angels. The museum houses the 4th Century Roman silver found locally in 1946 and we are near to RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath both currrently used as US Airforce military bases. We are equidistant to Cambridge with its university of numerous ancient colleges including the famous Kings College Chapel, daily market and punting on the River Cam. Ely with its wonderful Cathederal, Oliver Cromwell's House, marina and quaint city and Bury St Edmunds a large market town with refurbished Cathederal, Abbey Gardens, Georgian Theatre and many historical points of interest. Newmarket is just 10 miles away reknowned for horse racing, breeding and Tattersall Horse sales. We are on the edge of the lovely Breckland area offering many varied outdoor activities and historic places to visit. Seaside is an hour away.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Payment is by English pounds, sterling cheque or Paypal. A 25% deposit secures a booking. Full payment is required 6 weeks before arrival. Our cancellation policy is notification up to 6 weeks before arrival date the deposit will be returned if the accommodation can be re-booked up to 2 weeks before the booked arrival date. Once full payment has been made the deposit and payment is not refundable. Bookings are usually Saturday to Saturday with check out by 10.00am.
    Bed linen and towels are provided. Gas and electricity are included. There may be a supplement for utility costs from October to end April. A £100 breakages deposit is required on arrival. This is returned in full after checkout providing all is in order, otherwise faults and missing items will be charged for at replacement costs.
  • Typically changeover day is Saturday. Guests are welcome after 3.00 p.m. on the day of arrival and to vacate by 10.00 a.m. on the last day to allow for servicing.

    A UK 'pay as you go' mobile phone may be rented on the basis of paying for the calls used. A refundable £35 deposit is required.

    Wireless internet is charged at £2 per day (for the rental time booked)

  • There are two first floor bedrooms which are arranged as one twin room (2 single beds) and one with king sized bed. Both rooms have televisions, large cupboards for clothes and luggage storing. The king bedded room is over the sitting room and has a gallery across allowing for lovely views across the garden. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with hand shower, toilet and hand basin. The twin room has 2 single beds which can be put together to make a super king sized bed if required. A child's bed could be accommodated in here. This bedroom has an en-suite shower room with toilet and hand basin.

Each year their report is very complimentary and the rating is given as Highly Commended and 4 Stars. Because we have a sofa bed in the sitting room in the Coach House, rather than a separate 2nd bedroom they are unable to award us 5 stars. This rating ensures that the high standards they demand are met and are maintained. Our holiday makers are assured of getting what they are expecting and as seen on the website. Fire / Smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide monitors are installed and regularly tested. There are also annual checks for Gas and Electrical safety and certificates awarded. Energy Performance certificates are held for both properties

Other Activities: bird watching several RSPB sites locally, tree top walking at High Lodge in Thetford Forest. Antique hunting in Ely, Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds.
