The area in which the cottage is located is very peaceful, which is what we were looking for as a break from big city life. The neighborhood is a mix of full-time and vacationing residents. The cottage reminded us of going to see grandma in that it's older yet homey and comfortable. The wraparound porch is a great place to hang out, and we enjoyed having our morning coffee and tea there while looking at the view. For most of our stay there was a constant cool breeze, which was great in that we could open up the screened windows and doors. It got a little toasty the final three days we were there, so the window AC unit was put to use in the early afternoon through mid-evening. Otherwise, the windows and doors were open. A ventilation fan in the bathroom is needed, but it's not something that is unmanageable. The owners are great communicators and responsive, something that is a big plus in our book. The breakfast table is a good spot for putting together a jigsaw puzzle. Our dogs enjoyed the stay, too, and made friends with two of the local dogs. There's great exercise in the form of walking to be had. Steep hills, so if you go down, you must walk back up. We enjoyed our daily walks and took different routes to see where we'd end up. There are many deer in the area. They come out in the early morning and early evening. They're part of the neighborhood, in that you'll see people in their yards and the deer will be nearby munching away on vegetation. We also liked the cottage's location because it is close to town without being in town. A short drive down the hill and we were in town. Glad for our stay.
The cabin was very comfortable and cozy and clean! We enjoyed our stay so much! I am definitely saving this location for future visits! The scenery and wildlife were so amazing! I'm from the Hill Country in TX and I've seen deer, but to have them greet us when we arrived was so cool. Then to enjoy having them visit daily was just amazing! The birds were also so fun to watch! Thank you so much for letting us share your beautiful space. The owners are very friendly and helpful as well.
We stayed over the last weekend and couldn't have enjoyed it any more! Had originally booked Sandy's Cottage but were moved into Sandy's Place as the owners were in for the weekend. They graciously offered us the choice of staying in either place and gave us a discount for staying at Place. This cabin was very clean & well taken care of. I had told them we would be getting in quite late and when we arrived found that they had turned lights on inside and put the heat on. There was a nice "Welcome" sign in place to greet us when we went inside. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the deck with the rain falling lightly......Peaceful, quiet and relaxing says it all! The bed was very comfortable.... everything advertised was in place & working properly. We would definitely stay again! Thanks, Larry & Sandra for providing us with the perfect escape. By the way......Sandy, had I known sooner, I would have brought a few NMSU items & left for Larry's "enjoyment"!
Could not have or expected more. Certainly a jewel! Owner and property manager were right on point!
We've stayed at several different places in Ruidoso and
will have to say this is the best so far. The cabin was great.
It's so cute and "homey" , and it was so clean you could eat
off of the floors. We spent most of our time on the deck
watching the birds (especially the hummingbirds), the deer,
and we even had a visit from a small black bear. Our stay was everything we had hoped for and we will definitely stay
here again. Thanks Larry and Sandy. Susan V. Plainview,
We found the cabin to be exactly as advertised. The weather was perfect! Loved the hummingbirds and the deer. It was a perfect vacation!
