The Owner purchased this house in 2006
We have vacationed in the Asheville area over the years and we love everything the area has to offer, to include white water rafting, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, great casual dining and shopping.
Our property is a great place to hike the acres and surrounding nature preserve, watch the beautiful sunsets from the back porch and relax away from it all, yet still close enough to town.
The house is beautiful, and the views were amazing. It was very comfortable and decorated beautifully. It was difficult getting up the last hill in a car because of the gravel, but we were able to manage with a little speed. I appreciated the information sheet provided by the owner. It was very helpful. I would definitely go back!
My wife and I chose Paradise Peaks for the amazing views, the solitude and it is dog friendly. We stayed for 10 days and we thoroughly enjoyed the house and all of the amenities. We had everything we needed from trash bags to coffee filters, linens, etc. We really appreciated how comfortable the furniture and the bed was. It was really nice having a large washer and dryer too. We visited downtown Asheville and other surrounding areas. Downtown Asheville is roughly a 30 minute drive. We appreciated the owner's information sheet prior to arrival which helped us prepare for our stay.
The house was not adequate for four middle aged couples. Briefly, the steep driveway and many steps to access the house are a detriment for anyone with walking restrictions. Also, the small bedroom with the futon, which was not comfortable for an adult, does not have any windows, nor closets, and is not for adults. Also, the bed in the master bedroom was too high for easy access for people with physical limitations. Otherwise, the place was clean and beautifully furnished, and the remote area with an excellent view of the mountains was enjoyable.
This is our 3rd time staying at Paradise Peaks and it always seems like the first time.
The view is so beautiful. The house is very clean, spacious and when you first walk in you feel like your home. I love sitting on the deck it's so quiet and peaceful. The view of the mountains, the sunrise, the sunsets, the clouds and the fog I can never get enough pictures.
This is a tastefully decorated, very comfortable house. Well-equipped. We loved the fact that it has two sitting areas ... one with TV and fireplace, and one with music and a small library. The DVD collection is quite varied. You will find something you like.
The views are tremendous, and it is quiet and private. It is very well-equipped, and there are lots of spices and other basics in the house. Having a garage is a big plus if the weather is hot or rainy. Very nice washer and dryer.
Here are the cons. It is not near anything. It is 25 minutes to the nearest grocery stores in Marshall and on the road toward Asheville, which is 35 minutes away. So stock up before you arrive.
The only other con, which might not be a problem for many people, is that the three bedrooms upstairs share one bathroom. It is a great house for two couples or for a family. And there is a bath and a half on the main floor. I should also mention that you cannot get into the house without climbing stairs. If accessibility is an issue, this is not the house for you.
We would give this house a 4.5 (very good) rating if that was an option.
My fiancé and I took a long weekend trip here from Cleveland, OH. We ABSOLUTELY were blown away. This house sits on a mountain top with the most incredible, gorgeous views. It's secluded and quiet, and so peaceful. The house itself was spotless, tastefully decorated, and was such an amazing value for the price. We didn't have great weather for a couple of days, but we didn't even care because of the comfort of the home and the panoramic views. We were able to take an awesome hike (recommended by the owners on the fridge) on our last day there. It was about 30 mins into Asheville, which we enjoyed. We went into the city a couple of times-- the drive was easy. Very pet-friendly-- our 2 dogs LOVED it. Heaven on earth! We will absolutely be back again!
