True cabin built in 1960 with solid wood flooring and walls . . . Spectacular views of the mountains, Sierra Blanca in particular from high level deck . . . Original decor but outfitted with 21st century conveniences: Flat screen TV, dish network, all kitchen and bath amenities. Ceiling fans in every room; baseboard heat and wood burning stove for winter months. Totally isolated, gravel road entrance--yet 5 minutes from downtown Village of Ruidoso, 10 minutes from 3 casinos and racetrack.

Golf/Skiing/WiFi: Sandy's Place is within 10 minutes of three championship golf courses (Inn of the Mt. Gods, The Links at Sierra Blanca, Cree Meadows) and 30 minutes from Ski Apache resort, which is open from Thanksgiving through March. Sandy's Place also, for $10 a day, offers WiFi internet 'hot spot' access.

Cool! and wildlife: Cabin is set at 7500 feet, which averages about 8 degrees cooler in the summer from downtown, and 15 degrees cooler than the El Paso/Albuquerque/Lubbock southwest! Visitors from the Dallas or Houston area will notice that while Sandy's Place is in the mountains, it still carries LOW humidity.

Deer, elk, wild turkeys, raccoons daily visitors--most female deer will eat deer corn out of your hand!

Access: Sandy's Place is easily accessed from US 70 through downtown Ruidoso, New Mexico--yet retains it's quiet charm off a gravel access road that accommodates two full-time residences and this home. Easy accessibility in spring, summer, and fall by any vehicle: winter months might require 4-wheel drive depending on conditions.

mother nature was not polite. a hot may week. ac unit might as well not been there, the vinyl furniture sweated terribly. couldn't get the gas grill to work. was not secluded. view was nice. we rented for a week,stayed two nights and left. if a refund is available it would smooth it over a little, it was a eight hour drive.

Truly sorry for your experience at Sandy's Place. Yes, last week of May was over 100 here in El Paso, and while the place is outfitted with ceiling fans and a kitchen unit, it can get warm there in the summer. The previous eight reviews of Sandy's Place stays, all in the summer 2012 and this spring, were five-star--but want to make this "right" with you and your wife. Will email you and call you to discuss a partial refund--and will forward your concerns to our property mgr. (number posted in the cabin for renters) re: the propane grill issues--Regards, Larry and Sandra White

My husband and I just returned from our stay at Sandy's Place. We found it to be everything just like it was described to us and better. Every room was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Sitting on the deck in the quiet, cool mornings, drinking our coffee and enjoying the deer and turkey that came to visit made such a nice break from our hot, dry Texas weather. We will definitely stay here again when we get to return to Ruidoso.

Recommended for: Age 55+, Girls Getaway

Sandy's Place was just what we needed! It was clean, comfortable, and just as advertised. The owners were great to work with and answered all my questions via email before we went. The deck was comfortable with a beautiful view and a great way to enjoy the amazing weather! Then entire cabin was very clean. The hot water heater must be huge because there was always enough hot water for our family of four to shower, do dishes, cook, or whatever we needed. The owner provided great directions to get to the cabin. I would highly recommend this cabin and these owners to anyone!

My husband and I booked this cabin last minute for the Memorial Day weekend. It was just as the pictures represented. No frills just a clean cabin with a great view thanks to the extended porch on the front. The neighborhood was quiet and removed from the bussle of the town although in just a few minutes you could be eating, shopping, or wagering at your favorite venue. The owners were very helpful with detailed driving instructions. It is a great break from our Texas heat.
