Rancho Ricco is nearly 200 acres of some of the most beautiful views in the mountains of the Peninsula of Nicoya. Pastoral and tranquil with its rolling hills, and yet breathtaking in its sweeping views of the Gulf of Nicoya, Isla Chira and the smaller islands surrounding. Every nook and cranny of this ranch offers its own unique landscape and view. Bordered by a vast nature reserve, the property has an abundance of springs and two streams with waterfalls. So abundant is its water supply that the property provides half the water for the entire town.

All this privacy in a pristine setting is located less than fifteen minutes from Carmona, the largest town in the Canton of Nandayure, an hour from some of the most beautiful and unspoiled beaches on the Pacific Coast and 20 minutes from the Gulf, where a boat may be moored and kayaking is amazing.

The ranch holds a variety of wildlife, wild and domestic animals including twenty horses, over 7½ acres of teak, many rare and endangered hard woods, and a great variety of fruit trees including, mangos, papayas, avocados, rose apple, cashew, coconut and other palms, and a wide variety of citrus. Ginger and yucca grow wild for the picking.

Located on this magnificent ranch is a guest lodge consisting of 8 rooms (three are reserved for staff as required) a very large and impressive kitchen, a spectacular rancho with views of the gulf (a large circular thatched roof structure which can comfortably hold forty people for dining, dancing, or seminars), Plenty of hot water and some private baths. Broadband Internet with Wi-Fi included. A second house has five bedrooms, full kitchen, and two baths.

This is a vacation as different as a vacation could be. First of all the food is prepared when and how you like with mostly all local vegetables and fruits as well as fishand meats. healthy living is the theme. There are numerous tours as well as onsite horseback riding hiking and nature walks. The beach is a short ride to the pacific. There are several local retuarants for a change. The owner is an incredible woman who will make you feel like you are a guest in her home which she essentially considers you to be. this is a place that will design your vacation / getaway for you. There are also massges and therapuetic healing sessions available. you will leave a new person.

Nestled in the remote hilltops of the Nicoya peninsula, this delightful ranch offers a true get-away from life's stress, especially for those who want a more personal experience away from the standardized hotel/resort stays. I spent 5 nights here and had a wonderful time.

The owner will welcome you with open arms and an open heart. Her kindness, sweet nature and sparkling energy will guide you through a most pleasant stay. The owner also has a strong connection with the local people and can offer many memorable excursions during your stay. Freshly prepared meals are tasty and nutritious. The atmosphere is geared towards healing relaxation. You will leave feeling re-connected!

You will ultimately learn to bask in the local saying 'pura vida' meaning 'plenty of life/full of life/this is living!"
