Paniolo Hale is a unique, secluded condominium complex located on the west end of Molokai. The area's beautiful beaches are only a 2 minute walk from our front door. Our Unit is a privately located one bedroom/one bathroom one story corner unit. It resembles the type of Hawaiian cottage one dreams of.
The 5 french doors open on both sides of the screened wrap-around 400 square foot lanai. This ensures trade wind breezes through out the condo. The living room furniture is brand new with a full size futon couch. There is a new flat screen tv. The floors and cathedral ceiling are wood throughout, except for the cool tile in the remodeled bathroom. There is a ceiling fan in the living room. There are skylights in both the bathroom and well-equipped kitchen adding to the natural light in the condo. The bamboo loungers on the lanai invite you to rest, relax, and read. The wicker table on the lanai awaits romantic, candlelight dinners.
Because Paniolo Hale is on the west end, there is a sunset for happy hour every night. There is surfing in front of Paniolo Hale in the winter and snorkeling in the summer. Our condo has boogie boards, snorkel equipment, beach chairs and coolers...everything you need while vacationing on Molokai! The kingsize bed with sateen sheets is welcoming at the end of the day as you drift off to the sound of the waves.
We live on a 14 acre horse farm in the foothills of North Carolina with 5 horses, 5 dogs, 7 cats, and 4 chickens. We both work as RNs, Laura specializing in mental health and Curt in Oncology. Laura is an avid vegetable gardener. She is also a professional classical musician performing regularly on the horn with various local groups. We both love trail riding and camping with the horses. We fell in love with Molokai on our honeymoon there in 2001. We love the peacefulness, solitude and natural beauty of the island. We also love to scuba dive (especially the rock!) with Tim at Molokai fish and dive whenever possible!
Curtis Steinke purchased this condo in 2006
We chose to buy a condo at Paniolo Hale because we love the open air feel of the one story units. We love having a corner unit and spend most of our time on the lanai. We also love being on the west end because we love to hike and explore the secluded beaches.
We had a wonderful time in your beautiful condo. We are sure, that we come back to Molokai some day, but would like to stay longer next time. One week is not enough!! We love the beaches, landscape and much more we love the honest and friendly people.
One day before we had to leave Molokai I recognized that I couldn’t find my traveller checks. We looked everywhere but they were lost. So we asked ourselves where I could have left them. Several days ago, we bought something at the “Wine and Spirit Shop” in Kaunakakai. So we went there to ask if somebody had found them. And I couldn’t believe it, these people in the store found them and took them to the police after waiting a few days. I was so glad and thankful that they took care of my traveller checks. Next day – our departure day - we could pick them up at the police department . This was one of the good experiences we had with the Hawaiian people living on this island.
We spent a couple of days over at Kepuhi Beach soaking in the stark brilliance of land, sea and sky, but the moment we walked into this place, I knew I had come home. I loved the front entrance with what felt like our private yard where I could sit in the sun in the morning. This was real Hawaiian living for me, where the house is wide open into deep lanais, and we were protected by lush greenery from harsh sun and winds which play as cool breezes within the compound. Their taste is impeccable. The unit is absolutely as nice as it can possible be. It is all so perfect and so beautiful. I could go on and on. What is most important is that I reconnected with happiness there, and a renewed faith in life.
We just loved our jungle house, as we called it. We enjoyed to stay on the large covered lanai with the very comfortable chairs. Sometimes it can be a bit chilli in January. The house has everything you need and is very clean.Lots of informations. Every evening we took the beach chairs , did the two minutes walk to the beach to watch the fantastic sunsets. The westend of the Island is also a very good spot for hiking. We went to the "Aloha Friday" at the Molokai Hotel . Old Hawaiian Music played by Lono and other Hawaiians. If you like a quiet Island and a secret place that's where you have to go. Mahalo Curtis.
The accommodation is furnished with fantastically beautiful furniture.
Covered the whole porch and protected with mosquito net.
There are refined French doors that can be opened in a folding system. Therefore, it is possible to keep them open all the time and have the feeling that you sleep outside in the jungle.
As the house is completely overgrown with bushes, it is in the house therefore very dark. From neighbors can not hear anything, but the surf of the sea.
My wife, daughter and I have just returned from the property and extended trip in Hawaii and would like to highly recommend the property. The island, if you don't know, is very quiet and rural so start from this when considering your vacation. If that is for you then I think this property will be great. The site is three minutes walk from a spectacular sandy beach with great waves and, while we were there, two seals. The condo is well equipped and set-up for total self-sufficiency. The pool is great and though shared was always very quiet. There is a bit of a trek to the shops as other people have mentioned but as long as you are aware of this from the start then I don't see an issue. While we were there every day was hot and we were glad of the cover provided by the property structure - it is an interesting high-ceiling and overhanging roof - the condo appears to have been built with hot summers in mind as the air flows through well and shades from the sun throughout. Loads of information about Molokai's activities contained in the condo and all dealings with the owners, on-site staff were friendly and efficient.
What a great place for a relaxing vacation in a beautiful setting! The good news is that the western end of Molokai is stunning, this condo is large & comfortable & well-equipped, and the weather was fine while we were there, just a few showers at night. The online listing highlights the wrap-around lanai (screened porch) which is where we lived the whole time. It's better than the photos.
The bad news (maybe) is that this is a remote place, 20 miles or so from the only town. If you're looking for night life and fancy restaurants, this might not be the best choice. We didn't want any of that and just enjoyed the quiet breezes, the singing birds, the active geckos and the wandering wild turkeys. Surf's a bit rough in winter but we found a quiet bay for snorkeling and also hiked to a waterfall for a swim.
My husband and I stayed here for a week in February 2014. We arrived here after spending the previous week on Maui. Wow! What a wonderful difference between the two places.
I can't say enough how awesome our experience was staying at Paniolo Hale. The condo was extremely comfortable and had all the amenities necessary to feel at home. We particularly loved that this condo was located in the shady part of the complex.
The binder of information provided by the owners had everything to make our week on Molokai thoroughly enjoyable. Our only regret was that we came during the winter and couldn't snorkel or swim as much as we would have liked. I think our favorite thing was being able to sleep in, get up when we wanted, have a cup of coffee and then head out for a morning run on the roads and trails nearby without a lick of traffic.
I would highly recommend this delightful little slice of heaven to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway.
