A perfect holiday!

We had a wonderfully relaxing holiday - it was a joy to be able to just fall into the pool whenever we wanted, and yet be able to walk down to the beach too, and to all the huge choice of cafes and restaurants in Moraira.

There was plenty of space in the villa for us all (11 of us), and Moraira itself is a really family-friendly resort where children are always welcome. The atmosphere in the town in the evenings was delightful.We didn't need many distractions, but there are plenty of activities on offer if wanted.

We did use hire-cars for the occasional expedition and for shopping, but this is not essential - and we did try out the local excellent bus service into Calpe!

Paul and Amanda were so friendly and helpful and we couldn't have had a nicer two weeks - some of us cried when we left!

Relaxing holiday retreat

The layout was as described, the villa is divided into two apartments, perfect for our three families and located very close to the beach, in fact we walked down to the town and beach every day, unless we needed some shopping.

The villa was clean throughout and the outside terrace areas were very spacious, with more than enough sunloungers around the pool, for all the families. With the town and beach being so close, it was a pleasure to walk down into town for the day, spend the day on the beach and returning later for dinner in the evening. Saying that we did have family members who just wanted to sit on the terrace and enjoy the pool. The owners were there when we needed them, otherwise Paul just came in to clean the pool, twice a week. We visited Terra Mitica theme park but to be honest, we should have saved the money, the children were just as happy on the beach. It was a pleasure to stay here and yes I would recommend this villa in Moraira to a friend, familiy or anyone wanting a relaxing holiday, by the sea.

A Good Holiday Spoilt

Three months after the holiday we received back £50 of our £250 deposit plus the £80 we paid for a/c but did not have. The owners sent us a list of items damaged or lost but we dispute all of these. The range of items they charged us for includes a chipped cup, a chipped storage jar, a stain on a drying-up cloth and a lost vegetable knife. There was no inventory available and the first time we heard that there might be a problem was when we chased up the return of our deposit. It took six emails and a telephone call before we got a response. The proper beach was further than the 800m they advertise and in the hot sun, this makes a difference. We did have a good time at their Villla but were surprised at the owner’s reluctance to return our money and by their petty mindingness.
Owner's Response: Firstly I am glad you had such a good holiday in Moraira
The beach is exactly 800m from the villa, as a competitive runner, I own a measuring wheel and it has been measured to the main beach everyone uses.
As for the sun, I have never seen a beach in the shade, you should have hired a parasol or booked in June as it is Very hot in August, but no one has complained of it being too hot before.
Obviously any guests using the aircon will be charged.
We always go to great lengths to find lost items or clean items which are stained, at our expense.
All guests have always been asked to replace broken items with similar, a cup, a plate etc, as indeed many guests have. You have tried to make us look "petty" when you have omitted the larger items, this is unfair and biased. The bolts on the toilet seat were ripped off and the kitchen wall, was so badly stained with ( tea or coke ) that we had no choice but to buy and paint the whole wall, you Must have been aware of this. A shelf in one of the bedrooms was completely broken, a new one was bought, cut and fitted, the person who stayed in that room knows who they are.
Two extra sunbeds were bought two weeks before your arrival, as a special request, for the previous party being so large. You broke one of these and it now has to be replaced. I accept that accidents happen but we do not expect to pay for them.
We are not a hotel and no amount of insurance could cover the costs on an annual basis. The damage waver is to protect our home. What is so surprising is that we have guests here throughout the rest of the year and yet have very little damage, then again we are here.

Moraira is a lovely place, there are lots of villas to choose from so avoid this one.
The villa looks delightful on the web site but differs from the photos.
For the price I expected quality, this place was disappointing.
There are no pads on the loungers and everything is grubbier than the photos depict, especially the sun canopies.
The bed matresses and pillows are a disgrace, fit only for the bin.
The upper apartment is completely separate from the downstairs which is not made adequately clear in the description, the only link is via an external staircase.
Eventually after three weeks of trying to get our deposit back, the owner accused us of having an extra person staying and made up a spurious list of damages as an excuse to hold back some money . Even this wasn't refunded until eight weeks after our return. There is nothing we can do about this apart from saving anyone else getting caught the same way.The owners made several unannounced visits, including letting themselves into the top apartment with their own key on the pretext of getting something which they needed - completely unnacceptable.
