I'm back in the dreary California winter, but I wanted to say Thank you for a wonderful week. Your place is perfectly located and outfitted, and
I can't think of a better place to stay. I met a lot of nice people, yourselves included, and I got to do a lot of fascinating, although muddy hikes. I even enjoyed the weather -- what's nicer than a tropical rain? Maybe I'll be staying with you again.
Yours truly, Jonathan"
We spent a relaxing week here and totally enjoyed our stay! It was better than home since we did not have to do anything other than go to the beach or explore the island. The studio is ocated in a very quiet, safe neighborhood. The host has thought of everything in this studio: toiletries, cooking equipment (dishes, utensils, microwave, grill, fridge, toaster, rice cooker, coffee maker, and hotplate), beach things (towels, boogie boards, chairs, umbrellas, coolers and more). Everything was extremely clean and in good order. One of the nicest beaches on the island is a 5 minute walk from the unit (or an even shorter bike ride using one of the two bikes provided for guest use). The host has information about things to do and where to dine in the local area. We totally enjoyed our stay and appreciated the lovely touches of a variety of snacks and fruit that were provided when we arrived. (One of us was on crutches and appreciated the walk-in shower and the easy access into the unit-no steps).
Great little studio in Kailua. My husband and I stayed there for 5 nights, the place was very clean, the bathroom is huge with double shower. I did not feel that the carpet is damp like the other reviewer posted and I have lots of seasonal allergies, but I did not have to use my allergy medicine once. Debbie and Dave left us some drinks and snacks which was wonderful. Pretty much everything you need is there, towels, beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, and bikes. We rode the bike to town on a nearby bike path. The owners live right next door and they are very helpful. The walls are thin so sometimes you can hear people through the walls, but that doesn't bother me at all. It is definitely not a 5 star hotel, but you are only paying $120 a night. The best part is you away from all the craziness in Waikiki and 5 mins from one of the best beach in the world.
First let me start by saying that we couldn't sleep comfortably here. The pictures made this unit look nicer than it actually is and the reviews were mostly good, so we were shocked upon arrival. I seriously thought someone was already staying there when we arrived as there were personal items all around the unit and not near as tidy as the photos. Our main issue though, was the carpet (think damp carpet due to the proximity of the beach, the kind you don't want to walk barefoot on!). In general, carpet is NOT what should be considered "low-allergen" as listed in the description. The A/C above the TV worked briefly, then shut off and the unit quickly became stuffy and hard to breathe in. The filter had fuzz hanging down and desperately needed to be cleaned as well. Opening the windows didn't help much as the blinds didn't allow air flow and if you raised them, you had no privacy. Speaking of privacy. If you read "romantic" like we did, you might be surprised that there are 2 doors in the hallway to the adjoining unit. The short time we were there, we heard nothing but coughing and talking from next door, again not romantic or private. Lastly, when we emailed the owner to let her know the unit was causing allergy attacks and we would be unable to stay there, she did not offer much assistance and included some comments making it feel as if she was observing our coming/going, etc…again, not so private if the owner is on-site watching your movements.
We had a fabulous stay in Kailua with Debbie and Dave, who were very friendly and helpful during out visit. Very close to the beach!
Our stay here was Awesome!! The studio was perfect for 2 people. The Story's were wonderful and very helpful!
We loved the studio in Kailua. It was 2 blocks from the beach, which we took advantage of in spades. The studio comes with boogie boards and other beach stuff - everything we needed was there. With onsite parking, it was easy for us to get out and visit the rest of the town, Honolulu, and the rest of the island. We definitely recommend staying here.
Kailua is located on the Windward side of Oahu. Kailua's main attraction is its world-renowned beach, voted as one of the top ten beaches in the world. Other areas of interest in Kailua are the Mokulua Islands, Kawainui Marshland, Mount Olomana, ancient Hawaiian sites, many parks, playgrounds, unique businesses, restaurants, and boutiques.
Kailua Bay is protected by a reef which provides an awesome playground for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling, body boarding and surfing. There are also several golf courses and tennis facilities nearby.
Kailua is just 20 minutes from Honolulu International Airport and downtown Honolulu and 30 minutes to Waikiki. Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station is just 5 minutes away. There is easy and convenient access to the H-3 freeway, Pali Highway and Likelike Highway.
