Relive the history of Buenos Aires only 5 blocks from today’s Recoleta village. In 1894, when the country of Argentina was one of the wealthiest in the world with strong European ties, a Frenchman built this elegant residence on Calle Juncal. You can still feel the old world ambiance in the building’s beautiful church-like façade, tall ceilings, and architectural features, but you can also enjoy modern conveniences like a renovated 'American style' kitchen. This large three bedroom apartment (over 200 square meters or 2,200 square feet) has a large master suite with king size bed, walk-in closet and separate bath, shower and toilet areas. There is a second smaller loft bedroom (with 2 twin beds) with its own bathroom with shower. A fully equipped office/study with television, DVD player, broadband internet access and wi-fi connection is tucked into a loft with skylight off the master bedroom. (There is also a very small bedroom (with bed slightly smaller than a twin) and bath in what was formerly the maid’s quarters which could accommodate a 5th person for a brief stay.) Recently renovated by the same architect who did the Art Hotel, the apartment features 15 foot ceilings in the living and dining areas and master bedroom. The apartment also contains some antiques and features art work by several local artists which we encourage you to discover and enjoy as much as we have. With each trip we make, we add to our collection of Argentine art in the apartment.

The apartment has its own private, elegant entrance with marble stairs up to the second floor (considered the 1st floor in Argentina - but there is NO elevator). World class restaurants, cafes, and gourmet grocery and wine shops are all in the neighborhood and within easy walking distance. Two blocks away you can enjoy the café lined Plaza Mitre for an early morning coffee before setting out into one of the most walkable cities in the world; three blocks in the other direction, you’ll find a Metro stop on Avenida Santa Fe. And with the apartment's central location in the city, everything Buenos Aires has to offer is a short taxi ride away.

Please note on some days when we have a guest checking in and out on the same day, the maid will not always finish the cleaning until 4pm, but you may checkin earlier on this understanding.

I think Buenos Aires is the most vibrant cosmopolitan city in South America. Recoleta is probably the best known part of Buenos Aires with everyone wanting to visit the famous cemetery just a few blocks away from my apartment.

What makes this apartment unique

Loads of fabulous restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets and art galleries are nearby and you are close to public transport to the city via bus or subway (subte). The popular shopping precinct of Santa Fe ave, is just a 5 minute stroll from the apartment. You are surrounded by beautiful architecture on every corner.

great location and space

perfect location at recoleta and barrio norte -- easy to walk many places. lots of space for two. attentive point of contact. comfortable furnishings.

Transactions with owner were quick, easy and simple -- Hamish was terrific.

possible extra perk for guests; though difficult, may be helpful to help find international guests somewhere to store luggage if they arrive before checkin etc....

Great time in Buenos Aries

My wife and I stayed in this beautiful apartment for five nights . We where blown away with the way the home was decorated. Fantastic ... The location was perfect, you could walk to all the hot spots in Recoleta. The owner Hamish was so helpful with all our needs. We have stayed in homes all around the world and this was one of the best. We highly recommend this and we will be back again.. Thanks for sharing your home with us...

Fabulous Apartment

We are just ending a month-long stay in this amazing apartment. It is on the 1st floor of a grand old classical BA building with its own private entrance off the street. The apartment is very clean and modernized inside. The location is superb as you can walk to the Subte and to the many cafes and restaurants in the area. The apartment itself is well equipped with everything you might need during your stay and the main King size bed is really comfortable. Walk in robes off the main bedroom and a great study with really fast wifi. I love to cook but we did not use the stove once as we ate out all the time. However, there are several good supermarkets nearby as well as numerous produce shops and wine stores. Hamish & Marcela were great to deal with. They provide lots of detail on the apartment and respond very quickly to any questions or concerns that you may have. Totally professional.

Perfect!!!

We had a perfect stay at this wonderful apartment. We were five (Me, my husband, two kids ages 8 and 4 and my mother). From the moment we walked in we felt surrounded by beauty and art and the place far exceeded our expectations. The furniture, objects, paintings, books, music, decoration were definitely chosen by someone who has an artistic soul. The location is terrific, there is a supermarket right behind the apartment off Puerreydon street, a wine store in the corner, and many places to buy flowers, fruits and vegetables. The apartment is walking distance from many attractions in Buenos Aires (Recoleta Cemetery, Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore, Recoleta Cultural Center, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, etc. It is also very easy and cheap to catch a cab in the street. The booking process was very simple and easy, communication with Hamish was great. Marcela was very helpful and kind. She arranged for our transportation to and from the airport with Ernesto who was a sweetheart helping us carrying our heavy luggage upstairs. We were greeted by Santiago who guided us through the place. We highly recommend this apartment, it made all the difference to this perfect stay in this lovely city. Thank you Hamish, Marcela, Santiago and Ernesto! We will definitely return!

A GREAT LOCATION AND GREAT APARTMENT

This was our 5th trip to Buenos Aires(BA) and our third apartment. We have always stayed in Recoleta. This apartment was in the best location and was perfect for us. We are a couple in our late 60's. The apartment is as described. It was very traditional and upscale. The kitchen had all the amenities we wanted. The living room was spacious and the balcony was big enough to see all the street sights while standing with a glass of wine. Lane loved the foyer and and we sat there each night with cheese and wine before going to dinner. The vanity off the foyer was very convenient The master bedroom was spacious and the master bathroom was very big with a separate room for the toilet and bidet. The shower was also separate and had great water pressure. A double sink with much counter space and a walk in closet made it even better, all tile and marble by the way. The 2nd bedroom is better suited for kids than us in that it is up a steep flight of stairs and has a low entrance. We did not use it and did not need it but it has it's own good size bath. Marcela, who greeted us with flowers and wine, was very helpful and knowledgeable and would have been more so, I'm sure, if we weren't so familiar with BA ourselves. She is definitely the best looking manager in BA. She arranged for our transportation to and from the airport with Ernesto which was flawless. There are wine stores, cheese shops and pastry shops in the neighborhood and a small restaurant with outdoor tables right outside the door. A grocery is right around the corner. If you like the sounds of the city, which we do, they are there but they go away as soon as you close the doors. Los Pinos on French is our favorite local restaurant and a new upscale one, El Burladero on Uriburu, was terrific. We were thinking this was our last trip to BA but based on this experience we plan now to return. If we return by ourselves we will rent here again definitely. We highly recommend it.

For great shopping. From the apartment walk down Juncal and over Pueyrredon for about 7 blocks until you get to Avenue Coronel Diaz. Turn left towards Ave Santa Fe and in 3 blocks your will come to Alto Palermo Shopping Center. The best value things to buy are from the local Argentine shops and chains rather than the international brands.
