Overview

Granby Lodge Rental Photos and Description

Lodge, 5 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 7 Baths, (Sleeps 12-20)

BYERS PEAK LODGE

Byers Peak Lodge sits atop a rocky, wooded ridge on 43 acres, adjoining 1300 acres of open space, just 4 miles east of Granby, Colorado. This magnificent, 5 bedroom, 7 bath, 5000 square foot, custom log home is a masterpiece of Colorado mountain architecture. Completed in 2002, the Lodge provides numerous amenities.

Custom rock fireplaces grace the great room on the main level and the entertainment room on the lower walkout level. The fireplace in the great room features two 6000-pound, lichen-encrusted boulders taken from a cliff on the property. One of these massive boulders is a natural replica of Byers Peak, the 12800 ft. , snow-capped peak oriented directly in the center of the Lodge’s panoramic great room windows. The Lodge’s unobstructed views are unparalleled in Grand County.

The dining area is designed for gatherings of friends and family, with a wide, family-style table and adjoining bar and stools. The kitchen features an enormous, wood-paneled refrigerator, two conventional ovens, a microwave, a vented cooking range, two dishwashers, a trash compactor, and two disposals. For outdoor cooking with a view, the Lodge offers a deluxe, stainless steel, gas barbecue located on the main-level deck, which wraps around 3 sides of the home. Or, for those not inclined to cook, restaurants in every price range are abundant in Granby, Winter Park, and Grand Lake.

Each of the five bedrooms features handcrafted, natural aspen log beds with adjustable mattresses. Adjoining bathrooms offer jacuzzi tubs; separate, seated showers with handrails; sink and toilet. Also in each suite or adjoining hall we have washers and dryers (4 sets total) for your after ski laundry necessities.

The entertainment room, quietly isolated on the bottom walkout level, provides the latest in home theater technology. A ceiling-mounted projector and movie screen provide the ultimate movie-watching experience. Guests can choose from a variety of videocassettes and DVDs, while relaxing on reclining leather sofas, loveseats, and beanbags. We have also just installed Direct TV with the NFL package, and 3D capable movies can be enjoyed through the projector as well.

About Nila Watterson

We (Russ and Nila) have been married for 45 years. We have lived in Colorado for 41 years. We have 5 children and 17 grandchildren who love to get together and play, laugh, and eat at the lodge.

Nila Watterson purchased this lodge in 2002

Why Nila Watterson chose Granby

We have loved and owned property in the area since 1985, and purchased the property on which the lodge sits in 1990. We have enjoyed ownership in over 1800 acres, including and adjoining the current site. We chose this site because of its unparalleled view at the end of Rocky Ridge.

What makes this lodge unique

Russ did all of the original design and architectural sketches, which were faithfully incorporated into the final house plans. The massive great room fireplace is constructed entirely of rock gathered from the property. The great room floor to ceiling windows allow a panoramic vista of beautiful Byers Peak and in the Lower foreground some 5 miles away, Granby Ranch Ski Resort and Golf Course.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you and we truly enjoyed our vacation-

We saw a great many Elk in the park and even enjoyed seeing a Bull Elk and three cows by the house one night.

We also saw prong horn deer and a fox, so we really enjoyed the wildlife and the view.

Thanks again for sharing your house-

Great lodging!!

  • 5 of 5

We took our youth group here and had a total of 10 people staying in the cabin and there was plenty of room to spare!! Not only was it gorgeous, it had a ton of space to separate and play. Plenty of things to do as well. The girls loved star-gazing off of balconies with the telescope, playing large charade-type games in the living room next to the impressive fireplace, playing cards in the cute nook off of the kitchen, ping-pong in the garage, sledding, camp fire, roaming the property, using the theater room for group movies, etc. We could have stayed a while there and never gotten bored. Watching the sun rise through the many large living room windows from atop the hill where the lodge sits overlooking everything was really neat. The kitchen had everything we needed. Everything was just right when we got there. I highly recommend this place and would love to come back!

Making Family Memories

  • 5 of 5

Our family had such a wonderful stay in this beautiful home. It was a real treat for the grandchildren to be able to meet for the first time as they live on opposite sides of the country. As a surprise our kids hired a professional photographer to come and capture all of us together. The house is perfect for playing indoors and out. We spent a lot of time at the big table playing games, talking and generally enjoying each other. The kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, and entertainment room contained everything you could need. The house is beautiful and the area is perfect for affordable family fun. We made full use of the 2 ovens, 2 dishwashers, 5 washers/dryers and having decorations for the holidays just topped it off. The great room and fireplace were warm and cozy providing a great place to gather for storytelling and snoozing! And the biggest bonus were the heated floors throughout the house, what a nice surprise. It felt like home. We plan to come back again someday whenever possible. I would highly recommend this to any family. Make sure if you come in the winter that you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Got one car stuck and had to push it, but then just parked it for the week - another chapter in this wonderful adventure. The owners have thought of everything and we are grateful they are willing to share it. Don't miss this beautiful house and area.

Teriffic stay at Byers Peak

  • 5 of 5

Our family had such a great time here! We had 6 adults and 7 kids and the space was more than adequate. Plenty of room for sleeping arrangements. The kids played and played outside in the snow and sledding down the hill just outside the door. When they came in it was so easy to dry their wet clothes in the 4 dryers at the house and have them ready for outdoor fun! The kitchen was awesome, I didn't know 2 dishwashers would be so handy. The kitchen was well supplied and the whole house is laid out to accommodate large groups yet is a nice warm inviting space. There is plenty of space for the kids to go play and yet they are never far away. The views are spectacular from this house! It was a great place to just relax or go outside and play. There were so many things to do in the area, things that all ages could enjoy. Nila, the owner, was very accommodating and pleasant to work with. There is so much to do in the area - you're close to Winter Park, Granby and Grand Lake. It looks like summer would be as much fun here as winter. All in all, if you want a great place to stay and you have a large group, this is the perfect place to stay. I can't think of anything that you would need that was not supplied other than food and clothes. It was a Thanksgiving all of our family will remember.

A First Rate Mountain Top Experience

  • 5 of 5

The location of Byers Peak Lodge is spectacular. The Lodge itself is classy with wonderful amenities: great kitchen with dishwashers; well-appointed bedrooms (jaccuzi in master bedroom), great screen in the theater downstairs with the latest in technology (we watched the two final World Cup Soccer games). A volleyball court provided for some choice competition. The 19 of us, kids and grandkids, were often on the deck and could not get enough of the valley scenery on all sides. Hikes from Grand Lake and pontoon boating on Lake Granby (with swimming) were hilights. We commend and thank the owners for excellent maintenance, cleanliness all around and readiness to respond to questions.

We have no hesitation to recommend this property to any who look for a good time in a good place!.

Wonderful Home with Exquisite view

  • 5 of 5

Our family came to Granby, Co for our son's destination wedding. We had a great time seeing family from both CO and AR. Staying hear allowed all the cousins to get acquainted and play. The adults also enjoyed visiting with each other. The view from the huge windows all around the house was breathtaking. Lots of space to spread out. Well furnished and with seven bathrooms who could ask for more.We also had a 1yr. old and found all our needs for a little one including a highchair, pack and play, and dishes. Loved every minute and the owner was a pleasure to work with. This home lacked for nothing you could want enjoy.
