Our airy and modern one-bedroom guest unit is located in the Silver Lake hills of Los Angeles. It is a hillside garden apartment, with our owner-occupied house above. (Because of the hillside, stairs are required to access the unit.)
The unit offers reserved, off-street parking for our guests' car and a separate entrance for total privacy. It has been renovated floor to ceiling and features a living room, compact kitchen, bedroom, and full bath, as well as beautiful cork and marmoleum flooring and roman shades with black-out linings. The furnishings are mid-century with a modern touch.
Perfect for two, and cozy for four, the location is ideal for a stay in Los Angeles. The Silver Lake reservoir, Los Feliz, Dodger stadium, Hollywood, Universal Studios, and downtown are minutes away, as is Griffith Park, with its trails, famous observatory, golf course, zoo, museums, train rides, and playgrounds. A great hotel alternative to anyone coming to Los Angeles for business or pleasure.
Inside the apartment:
THE KITCHEN includes a gas range, sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster oven, as well as ample cooking equipment, dishes, glasses, cutlery and even cookbooks for inspiration.
THE LIVING ROOM includes a full-sized comfort sleeper pull-out couch, easy chair, flat-screen television (with DirecTV, Roku Box, DVD player, and streaming Netflix), desk area (with plenty of Los Angeles visitors' guides), and a fold-out dining table that holds dinner for three. Also available for our guests are an array of books, games, CD player and IPod dock. High-speed WIFI is included.
THE BEDROOM features a queen bed with organic linens, sizable closet with full-length mirror, dresser, vintage vanity, and generous library of books. It is large-enough to accommodate a pack-n-play or crib as well.
THE BATH features luxurious 800-gram organic towels, full tub, sink, and toilet.
The grounds:
Just outside the apartment’s door is a sizable slate patio decorated with flowering plants and citrus trees. Lounge chairs, a cafe set, and a gas grill is available for your use. Our shared garden and 600-square foot deck is just beyond, with chaise longues and a table with seating for 8. The view is trees and hillsides, with downtown's skyline in the distance and city lights at night.
A grocery, pharmacy, banks, and a number of restaurants and shops are all in walking distance, as is the Silver Lake reservoir. We do recommend a car, and with it, you’ll have easy access to the 2, 5, 134 and 101 freeways.
We live above, and are typically around to provide directions, restaurant and attraction suggestions, and anything else we can help with. Parents: we are happy to provide a portable crib, high chair, and we can offer advice on local attractions resources for parents and children, including a referral for bonded, professional babysitters.
