I am energetic, happy, caring and fun loving Austinite. I was born in Croatia and got to Texas as fast as I could!
Lucija purchased this estate in 2009
The house has the reel of a very private retreat. It is so peaceful and relaxing, yet all of Austin's fantastic entertainment is easily accessible.
The vaulted ceilings in the master bathroom are truly unique.
Adriatic Serenity is not just a place to stay, it is an experience.
From the moment we stepped through the door, we were enamoured. Nestled in the hills of Austin, it overlooks a lush canyon. The house is framed with floor to ceiling windows and you can gaze at a variety of spectacular views from almost every room. It is an unusual home, adobe in design, it curves Mediterranean style, the ceilings in the master wing reflecting the architecture of the ancient Greeks and Romans. The owner has an artistic flair and everywhere you look, you find something to admire, to think about, to dream on. Yet, she has also made it accessible and comfortable, with conscientious attention to all of the high-end amenities one could possibly want. My husband and I and our two little dogs felt at home. Lucy and Doug, thank you for your gracious hospitality and for allowing us to stay a month in your amazing home.
If you're even considering it, rent this house! The architecture, views, trail access, and wonderful outdoor areas, it's all fantastic. It's actually even more beautiful in person than it's depicted in the photos posted. And what we enjoyed the most was how uniquely designed it is.
We stayed for two nights over Thanksgiving (my wife & I, our 4 kids, and Lucy allowed us to bring our dog) as a mini-vacation. The location in Austin was great, but the couple times we left to visit a park and find a meal we found ourselves rushing to get back. The house managed to be fun & entertaining for the kids (aged 4-12) while at the same time relaxing and serene for us. And while we didn't have the opportunity, it would be an outstanding house for entertaining.
Lucy was a gracious host, and we couldn't have been happier with the whole experience.
Lucy, your house overlooking the hills was the perfect setting for our wedding party. Most of the guests had never been to Austin so they were particularly thrilled with the serenity & quiet but still so very close to everything. The house layout was perfect for the wedding party & allowed us many options as each couple had their own private sanctuary. The bride & groom stayed in the master retreat & felt like a king & queen! Lucy was so very easy to reach with questions & was most gracious. We really hated to leave but hope to return for another wonderful stay.
My entire family was delighted by this remarkable home. From our arrival when we were greeted by the warm and welcoming owner, to excitedly discovering each room and living space, our family was beyond thrilled. We were in town for my nephew's wedding and it was important to all of us (my four siblings and their spouses), to have a home where we could gather and share time together surrounding the event. The outdoor living spaces were perfect for connecting with each other - the indoor common areas as well as each bedroom were unique and accommodating. Even though we had a lot of activities occurring in Austin, we still found time to cook together and visit with each other as a family - and the house and its numerous amenities made all of that possible. Most important, we could tell the owners took great care in creating an environment that was homey, unique, and welcoming. We are already talking about how we might find a way to all come back to Austin and hope we can stay there again. We couldn't have had a better experience and recommend this beautiful home wholeheartedly!
First impression coming up on the house was where is it?Then upon driving down the steep driveway we see a shack like structure and immediately panicked, did we just get fooled?! However, you are in for a great surprise when walk down to the actual home, wow. Gorgeous inside, cool and weird just like Austin. The "shack-like" structure turned out to be a very nice guest house that some of our student organization officers preferred to stay in.
The only constructive criticism I have on the house is that the placement of the beds was a little awkward and we wished there had been a fire-pit in the backyard. The backyard is pretty large, but with nothing to do back there, we didn't really use it.
Overall it was a lovely home and the owner was very pleasant and even let us stay an extra 2 hrs! I would recommend this home to a group of people looking for some good bonding. If you're just wanting to have fun I would recommend staying somewhere closer to 6th street or right on a lake.
This custom, spacious home has everything you need and is immaculately kept by a caring owner. Multi-level home has nooks for those needing privacy, massive furniture that accentuates the unique walls and layout, and glass walls that overlook the beautiful outdoors. I sat on the veranda at night and listened to the cicadas and counted stars and felt as isolated as ever since I could hear no city traffic or horns or emergency vehicles. The owner is conscientious, pays attention to details, and wants guests to be as comfortable as possible. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a quiet get-away.
