When the producers of ABC’s 'The Bachelorette' selected the Dutch-influenced island of Curaçao as a destination for Season Eight they looked for a luxurious, romantic home where Emily Maynard and her daughter Ricki could enjoy the sun, sea and a bit of island history. They chose Sirena Bay Estate for 'The Bachelorette' season's final episode.
When the white gates to Sirena Bay Estate swing open the staff will there to welcome you to a private island retreat. The classic “Dutch Landhuis” style home is set in a beautiful garden by the sea. Mature trees and palms combine with a profusion of tropical flowers and vegetation that is by design alternately manicured and wild to create a magnificent garden setting. Privacy walls surround the estate and create an intimate atmosphere that lets you feel like you are in your own world.
The Grand Entrance Hall provides a world class welcome to everyone visiting Sirena Bay. Guests are received here and it is decorated with an ever changing collection of art from the artists of Curacao. Contemporary paintings, ceramics and sculpture will captivate you and demonstrate that this is truly the art island.
The beautifully designed Living Room features cathedral ceilings, a unique mix of antique Caribbean furniture and a dramatic art collection that creates a charming place to gather. This elegant room opens on to the Loggia and has beautiful views of the sea and pool terrace.
The Loggia is an open air room that makes the most of the natural island setting that makes the Estate so unique. Teak lounge chairs offer a nice place to relax and the dining table provides a perfect setting for meals. Light the candles each evening to welcome everyone as you gather to enjoy the sunset and the dinner hour.
The Grand Ocean View Terrace is an outdoor oasis with a swimming pool and intimate garden that surrounds the Estate. The Oceanside Gazebo can provide a shady place to relax on lounge chairs or it can be transformed for dining by the sea. From here, you can enjoy the view back to town and stunning sunsets.
The Lower Beach Terrace is your own sandy retreat by the water’s edge. The ever changing surface of the water leaves no doubt that this is what outdoor living is meant to be…watching the beauty of the sea and hearing the sound of the waves at your doorstep.
The Swimming Pool features a 21’ round spa area that is shallow with seating and jets around the perimeter. A bridge connects to the 50’ lap area where two swimming lanes allow for a serious workout. Plenty of lounge chairs on the terrace can be placed in the sun or shade for a perfect poolside day. The beautifully appointed pool house has shower and changing facilities and serves as a powder room when entertaining guests on the terrace.
A beautiful handmade curved Dutch style wooden staircase leads you to the Pineapple Suite. At the top of the staircase is a landing and sitting area with shuttered doors opening out to a balcony overlooking the swimming pool, private beach and expansive ocean. An antique settee and chair are part of the furnishings complimenting this charming area of the home that serves to connect you to the bedroom.
The Bedroom of the Pineapple Suite features a big pineapple chandelier descending from the vaulted cathedral ceiling. The room is decorated with handcrafted teakwood furniture. The king size bed makes this a truly luxurious master bedroom retreat.
The Pineapple Bathroom has marble walls, double sinks with granite countertops, a spacious shower and large spa tub set in mahogany wood that makes a great place for relaxing as the day winds down.
The Royal Suite is a romantic retreat with a hand carved mahogany king size bed. An antique writing desk from the Dutch colonization days makes a perfect place to write post cards home.
The Royal Bathroom is an oasis where you can pamper yourself as you relax in the tub or take a quick shower after a swim. Italian porcelain tiles and antique bronze fixtures make this a world class bathroom.
The Sirena Suite has a feeling of tropical refinement. The room features teakwood furnishings and colorful accents reflecting the mermaid theme of this bedroom with two twin beds which can be bridged to become a king if needed.
The Sirena Bath is a spacious white tiled spa like retreat with an extra deep bath tub, large walk in shower and double vessel sinks.
We hope you decide to visit Sirena Bay Estate.

To anyone considering this property I would look no further. As others have said the pictures tell half the story and show half the beauty. From the moment my family (wife, three kids and my mother in law) walked through the doors we were taken by the beauty of the property. From the art (which is truly masterful and exquisite) to the comfortable bedrooms we were all mesmerized by its beauty. While the stay was not without it's problems (air conditioning in bedroom not working first night, toilet busting in pool house and dispensing its sewage on the floor) all issues were taken care of professionally and expeditiously.
Mark, who is the caretaker for the property, is a most wonderful man. He made sure the property was running smoothly, answered all questions and made our stay so much better. (We will never forget our breakfast by the pool complete with fresh picked Gnips!). I cannot say how much we appreciated Mark (and his wonderful family!) and hope our paths cross again.
Finally, Richard made our experience whole. From his pleasant demeanor, to his knowledge of the island to his transporting to and from the airport all he did was perfect. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and hopefully we see each other soon!
Richard and the staff were extremly helpful in making our trip to Curacao a success. The house staff made sure the house was well maintained and every need was taken care of. The views and privacy were above expectations. The house is on a quiet street but well within walking distance to restaurants and bars. If you're looking for a place to unwind, I would highly recommend Sirena Bay.
My husband and I and another friend couple of ours had the Sirena Bay Estate for a week. It did not disappoint! The pictures online look just like the actual house/pool etc. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained by the staff. A special thanks to Richard who picked us up from the airport and took us to get groceries upon our arrival. He even offered to take us back to the airport but we had rented a car for the last few days. Sirena Bay is within walking distance to some of the most amazing restaurants on the island and Richard made sure to point them out (and give us some tips) on the way to the house. I would recommend Sirena Bay to anyone visiting Curacao, it was really our very own tropical paradise. Thanks to Shelly, Curdon and School Boy for taking care of us during the week and thank you to Richard for sharing your piece of Curacao with us!
For our 5th annual “Girlcation” we visited Curacao February 2-9, 2013 and stayed at the beautiful Sirena Bay Estate. Our group consisted of 10 ladies ages ranging from 30 something to 60 something!! The Sirena Bay Estate was over and above our expectations, starting with the owner Richard meeting us at the airport (flight was late). I’m sure he didn’t know what hit him when he saw 10 southern Virginia women coming at him with all that luggage!! But I have to say he took it all in stride. He waited until we got our rental van and then proceeded to take us on to his beautiful villa. In addition to the villa we rented the apartment next door and it proved to be the perfect accommodations for all of us. The steps to the apartment’s loft bedroom were a little hard to climb but after the first night we adjusted with one sleeping in the media room so that worked out okay. All bedrooms had king beds with huge washrooms that were supplied with soap, shampoo and conditioner. Richard and his wife Marilyn helped us setup massages at the house which was wonderful. We enjoyed our massages by the ocean under the gazebo and we could not have asked for anything more!! The Villa is perfectly located and very private, a short walking distance to many first class restaurants as well as lots of shopping. The gardener Kurdon and housekeeper Shellie were wonderful, always seeing to our needs and greeting us with a warm smile. We spent many of our days lounging by the beautiful pool and loved every minute of it. Some of the activities we enjoyed while in Curacao were buggy tour with Curacao Buggy Adventures; stand up paddle surfing with SUP Curacao and a day at Cabana Beach. I think everyone in our group would highly recommend the Sirena Bay Estate.
Our holiday at Sirena Bay Estate was over and above our expectations. From the start, the owner meeting us at the airport, and helping to make sure Budget waited past closing for us, due to our late plane, unbelievable. The house was more then we expected. Perfect accomondations for several couples. All bedrooms had king beds with huge washrooms. As well they supplied all the scuba equipment we needed right at the house. Tanks and weights and refills daily, directions to the best dive locations, again, far more then we expected. House location is perfectly located, very short walking to many first class restaurants as well as lots of shopping.
The listing description was very accurate. The property was much more elaborate then described. The photos were great, but did not capture the expanse of the property. The cleaniness of the property was exceptional, with an onsite help along with another young lady who arrived like clock work daily, except Sunday. The owners were unbelievable in answering questions. The owner picked us up at the airport, which was a late arriving flight. There were two bottle of wine and other snacks in the refrigerater. He also provided invaluable information about the property and the local area. He and his wife live close to the property and keep an office at the property. There were also two gardeners who provided security for the property. Although we felt completely safe, their presence just added an additional amount of comfort. I would recommend this property to anyone who is interested in having a private resort experience. Just outside of our private resort were a number of restaurants that we found very good. Among them were Fishalicious and Pane de Vino. For a daily workout, you can access the Avilia Hotel, for a small fee. About 3 miles away is the Sea Aquarium compound. This is a development that is still being expanded. This includes The Sea Dive Hotel and a mall that is still being built. There are a number of beaches at this location as well.
The icing on the cake for us was interacting with the owner. He is a businessman from the states. He is quite informative on the island and things to do and not to do. He gave us a great restaurant in Westpunt to visit. There are many small beaches there as well. Additionally, one of the security men gave us a good restaurant in town called the Iguana Cafe. This is a great place to eat, drink, and people watch. We me the owner's wife as well. She is a businesswoman from the states. They both gave a more detailed description of the art that decorated the house. Their descriptions were from a collectors perspective.
We did rent a car, which was helpful in getting around the island. Since the owner picked us up at the airport, we rented the car for pickup the following day of arrival. The owner gave us a ride the next day to get the car and groceries. Additionally, the owner came by the day of return of the rental car, to make sure that we had a ride back to the property. The ride back to the airport was an opportunity to thank the owners for the care that they provided for our stay.
