When the producers of ABC’s 'The Bachelorette' selected the Dutch-influenced island of Curaçao as a destination for Season Eight they looked for a luxurious, romantic home where Emily Maynard and her daughter Ricki could enjoy the sun, sea and a bit of island history. They chose Sirena Bay Estate for 'The Bachelorette' season's final episode.
When the white gates to Sirena Bay Estate swing open the staff will there to welcome you to a private island retreat. The classic “Dutch Landhuis” style home is set in a beautiful garden by the sea. Mature trees and palms combine with a profusion of tropical flowers and vegetation that is by design alternately manicured and wild to create a magnificent garden setting. Privacy walls surround the estate and create an intimate atmosphere that lets you feel like you are in your own world.
The Grand Entrance Hall provides a world class welcome to everyone visiting Sirena Bay. Guests are received here and it is decorated with an ever changing collection of art from the artists of Curacao. Contemporary paintings, ceramics and sculpture will captivate you and demonstrate that this is truly the art island.
The beautifully designed Living Room features cathedral ceilings, a unique mix of antique Caribbean furniture and a dramatic art collection that creates a charming place to gather. This elegant room opens on to the Loggia and has beautiful views of the sea and pool terrace.
The Loggia is an open air room that makes the most of the natural island setting that makes the Estate so unique. Teak lounge chairs offer a nice place to relax and the dining table provides a perfect setting for meals. Light the candles each evening to welcome everyone as you gather to enjoy the sunset and the dinner hour.
The Grand Ocean View Terrace is an outdoor oasis with a swimming pool and intimate garden that surrounds the Estate. The Oceanside Gazebo can provide a shady place to relax on lounge chairs or it can be transformed for dining by the sea. From here, you can enjoy the view back to town and stunning sunsets.
The Lower Beach Terrace is your own sandy retreat by the water’s edge. The ever changing surface of the water leaves no doubt that this is what outdoor living is meant to be…watching the beauty of the sea and hearing the sound of the waves at your doorstep.
The Swimming Pool features a 21’ round spa area that is shallow with seating and jets around the perimeter. A bridge connects to the 50’ lap area where two swimming lanes allow for a serious workout. Plenty of lounge chairs on the terrace can be placed in the sun or shade for a perfect poolside day. The beautifully appointed pool house has shower and changing facilities and serves as a powder room when entertaining guests on the terrace.
A beautiful handmade curved Dutch style wooden staircase leads you to the Pineapple Suite. At the top of the staircase is a landing and sitting area with shuttered doors opening out to a balcony overlooking the swimming pool, private beach and expansive ocean. An antique settee and chair are part of the furnishings complimenting this charming area of the home that serves to connect you to the bedroom.
The Bedroom of the Pineapple Suite features a big pineapple chandelier descending from the vaulted cathedral ceiling. The room is decorated with handcrafted teakwood furniture. The king size bed makes this a truly luxurious master bedroom retreat.
The Pineapple Bathroom has marble walls, double sinks with granite countertops, a spacious shower and large spa tub set in mahogany wood that makes a great place for relaxing as the day winds down.
The Royal Suite is a romantic retreat with a hand carved mahogany king size bed. An antique writing desk from the Dutch colonization days makes a perfect place to write post cards home.
The Royal Bathroom is an oasis where you can pamper yourself as you relax in the tub or take a quick shower after a swim. Italian porcelain tiles and antique bronze fixtures make this a world class bathroom.
The Sirena Suite has a feeling of tropical refinement. The room features teakwood furnishings and colorful accents reflecting the mermaid theme of this bedroom with two twin beds which can be bridged to become a king if needed.
The Sirena Bath is a spacious white tiled spa like retreat with an extra deep bath tub, large walk in shower and double vessel sinks.

Richard and the staff were extremly helpful in making our trip to Curacao a success. The house staff made sure the house was well maintained and every need was taken care of. The views and privacy were above expectations. The house is on a quiet street but well within walking distance to restaurants and bars. If you're looking for a place to unwind, I would highly recommend Sirena Bay.
I am so glad I arrived during the day, the view of the Caribbean Sea from Sirena Bay Estate is magnificent!!!!! What a great to strart a great vacation at Sirena. I stayed in the Royal Suite which is appropriately named. All the amenities are at hand. The bath is huge!
We found the location to be just perfect. Four of the best restaurants according to TripAdvisor are within walking distance. The staff was most helpful. Shelly,Ottis and Ronald were superb. We'll be back!!
Our group was greeted ,picked up at the airport . The ride to Sirena Estates was short. The driver was courteous and friendly. My stay was for several days . The staff was most helpful and knowledgeable about the quarters and the Island. The view from the Estate was wonderful. Fine dining is abundant and nearby. Dancing and swimming are always at hand. I think the money was well spent.
If you dreamed of a holiday in total privacy with everything you need Sirena Bay Estates is definitely for you. We had the most fantastic time staying there for 10 nights. It is a magnificent, peaceful, beautiful slice of paradise. It is not a resort with people everywhere - No waterslides, No loud music, No fighting for a deck chair. There is so much room on the property that everyone can have their own bit of privacy. The pool and the views were spectacular and so relaxing at all times of the day or night. The interior is well decorated with so many stunning details. The staff Shelly & Ottis were wonderful and were so attentive to our needs. We had the welcome opportunity to meet their two sons and had a wonderful time comparing countries and cultures with them. We will be back soon. Thank you for sharing your estate with us.
We stayed at Sirena Bay for one week in March 2015. Owner was very nice, met us at the airport, stopped at the grocery store on the way to the home and answered the many question we had about the island. Once we arrived we were greeted by the caretakers of the property.
The ocean view from this property was excellent and is as shown in the pictures. The beach is a man made raised area with some sand spread across, you are not able to enter the water as the waves crash against the sea wall and there are very large rocks swimming or snorkelling is not possible.
The home is very tired and dated and needs work. The pool is missing tiles and is not clean. The caretaker removed leaves and debris daily and the pool company came to clean twice while we were there but there was green algae stuck between tiles and the water became more and more cloudy each day while we were there. The housekeeper came each day to ask if you needed anything if you did not she simply left. The weekly rental cost of this home is high and owner stated that there would be daily maid service but we felt that there should be basic things done such as trash emptied, bird poop washed off the outside patio but this was never done.
The home is within walking distance of many great restaurants and downtown tourist area but there are a lot of deserted and broken down buildings that you must walk by and trash/broken glass is everywhere along streets. We never had any problems but did feel uneasy when walking.
While we never had any problems while staying at this home we would not return.
To anyone considering this property I would look no further. As others have said the pictures tell half the story and show half the beauty. From the moment my family (wife, three kids and my mother in law) walked through the doors we were taken by the beauty of the property. From the art (which is truly masterful and exquisite) to the comfortable bedrooms we were all mesmerized by its beauty. While the stay was not without it's problems (air conditioning in bedroom not working first night, toilet busting in pool house and dispensing its sewage on the floor) all issues were taken care of professionally and expeditiously.
Mark, who is the caretaker for the property, is a most wonderful man. He made sure the property was running smoothly, answered all questions and made our stay so much better. (We will never forget our breakfast by the pool complete with fresh picked Gnips!). I cannot say how much we appreciated Mark (and his wonderful family!) and hope our paths cross again.
Finally, Richard made our experience whole. From his pleasant demeanor, to his knowledge of the island to his transporting to and from the airport all he did was perfect. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and hopefully we see each other soon!
