A MIXED REVIEW

  • 3 of 5
Although this is an excellent cabin in a beautiful area, there are many screens on the windows that are bent. When we arrived, the house was full of flies, not just a few but hundreds of flies crowded into all of the window. There was one fly swatter, which the family took turns killing. After a few hours, the flies were dead and the window with bent screens were closed. Unfortunately, we missed one in the master bedroom. So when my son and wife headed off to bed, the room was full of flying ants. Once again, we began taking turns killing the ants with the one fly swatter. In the meantime many of the ants flew into the living area and the back bedroom with the bunk beds. One of my grown sons slept in the car. My oldest son and his wife slept in the very hot master bed room with two of their children and I slept in the smaller bedroom with one of my grand daughters. These were not the accommodations we expected. After visiting the Grand Canyon on Saturday, my oldest son, his wife and children left. It would take very little to solve this problem and it would be a lovely place to stay. The kitchen is serviceable, there are plenty of games and movies for all ages, the setting is gorgeous. I hope the owner will spend the money to repair the screens. We felt we spent to much money to spend the weekends with the bugs.

GORGEOUS CABIN

  • 5 of 5
Beautiful scenery, high quality, impeccably clean log cabin / ranch house. The engineering solutions work very well, no inconvenience whatsoever. We had to turn on the generator for a couple of hours in the evening on cloudy days, but no big deal. The huge windows in the living room are great for watching wildlife: lots of birds and rabbits, a couple of deer and a coyote. We had a wonderful trip and hope to return.

BEAUTIFUL, COMFORTABLE CABIN, PRETTY LOCATION!

  • 5 of 5
This cabin is beautiful, well-maintained, clean, and comfortable. The owner was very fast at responding to questions and we liked the self-sufficient nature of the cabin with the wood pellet stove, the solar power, and the backup generators. We were impressed with the attention to detail. Considering that, the only (minor) suggestion we have is to provide some hand soap in the bathroom sinks. We enjoyed our stay here!

BEST PLACE IN MIDDLE OF NOWHERE

  • 4 of 5
We had always wanted to try a place "off the grid". This cabin was just that. About a 30 min drive to the south rim of the Grand Canyon, it was a great location. The cabin looks new. Was clean and had all the needed supplies for cooking. It is not for travelers accustomed to staying in a resort. We were there in March, so had to use a wood burning stove for heat. We used too much power one night so there was not enough left in the batteries to power the house overnight. I woke up and had to start the backup generator till the sun came up. But these are the things we wanted to experience. So, if you are up for an adventure, this is a good place to stay. But, there is no bellman to get your bags.

BEYOND WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT

  • 5 of 5
We went with another couple. This home is beautiful!! Roger was very helpful in answering all of our questions prior to and during our stay. So much better than staying in a hotel. The home was very clean and well equipped for our stay. Beds were very comfortable. It did make us realize how me might be wasting electricity. The last two days, it was cloudy out and lost power. The generator started right away. We only had to use it for an hour or so in the evening and turned it off before going to bed and all was fine. The property is secluded but very easy to find. Only wildlife we saw was a coyote as we were leaving to go to the Grand Canyon. Great location if going to the Grand Canyon!!! All in all, everything was wonderful....

REMOTE BUT VERY ACCESSIBLE, FAMILY FRIENDLY CABIN

  • 5 of 5
We had a family reunion at the cabin between 8/8/12 - 8/12/12.

The cabin was very much as the owner Roger had described in the listing as well as follow up documentation provided by email. The cabin was easily located two miles off the main highway by gravel road, again just as described. Say hello to the cows as you drive in. The dirt trail gets a little muddy as you approach the property, specially if it has rained recently. Bonus points for getting the SUVs looking muddy and rugged! Also, the view from the cabin was simply terrific - horizon to horizon with beautiful sunrise and sunset.

The property was very well maintained and clean inside and out, with plenty of sheets and extra towels available for all. The eco-friendly power and water infrastructure definitely taught us all to be mindful of our consumption habits (use only what you need!). The kids in our group, from age six to nineteen all had much to appreciate in terms of conservation of our resources.

On the way in to the Grand Canyon area, we stopped by the Safeway grocery store in Williams and stocked up on 4 days of supplies for our group. It definitely helps to have a Safeway club card handy for extra savings!

The Grand Canyon National Park entrance is only about 25 minutes up the highway so getting there and back was really easy, even in waning sunlight.

We would highly recommend this property to our friends and relatives, and also consider staying there again!
