We have been married for over 40 years. After leaving The
USAF and our home in Yuba City, Ca. We went back to where we grew up, Long Island, NY. Raised 3 children and now boast of 2 grandsons, Santino and Maximo. I'm a self employed Contractor, 'The Toolman, A Handyman Service and my wife works for a country club on the south shore of Long Island.
We come down to Lake Marion often and find it really relaxing. Our days here usually consist of shopping at Walmart , Lowes' and/or Publix Discovering new restaurants, going to flea markets, the movies [something we usually don't have time to do at home] and driving to either coast. St Pete Beach or newly discovered Vero Beach, and many other beaches all with their own charm and personality. Maybe staying in a motel if we want to but always being able to drive back to Lake Marion Resort.
We find LMR a great place to relax after whatever we do. A short shopping day or a long side trip. We find ourselves relaxing. whether sitting down to read or watching some TV or walking to the lake or to the pool/hot tubl. Its a great place.
Bill Melendez purchased this condo in 2008
About 20 years ago my wife had a brain tumor. After a year of doctors, hospitals, work, family, the house, etc... We wanted to go to Disney. We planned on making it in 3 days, leaving after work staying in Washington DC, and a 'Red Roof Inn', in Jacksonville, Fl. We woke up in DC to a emergency snow warning for the east coast. We had reservations at a Disney World Resort, and a lot of snow wasn't going to stop us. All the kids were on board, the last year taught them about getting things done. Through one of the harshest snow storms I can remember we drove down to Florida. Interstate 95 was empty. Well there were a lot of memories made on that trip.
We got to Disney, stayed the 3 days and 2 nites. Disney was great. We decided to stay longer but the cost of an unexpected stay at Disney would put a hurting on our budget. That was when we were introduced to vacation rentals.
For about $40 a night we rented a condo. We had breakfast in the condo and maybe another meal if we felt like it. Eating out wasn't imperative and activities were shared with other families at the complex. We continue to go out but we had a nice spacious place to come back to.
Lake Marion Resorts backs a state preserve. You are in Central Florida, Wild life, cattle ranches, orange groves, 15 minutes to local shopping including a 'Public's' , 'Super Walmart', and a 'Lowe's'. 20 to 50 minutes mostly everywhere else.
A gated community that offers peace of mind. A lake, 3 pools, whirlpool, Pool table, Tennis court, Basketball court, why leave... enjoy more of Florida.
