We are so centrally located that you can literally be anywhere in San Francisco in less than 10 minutes. Catch a bus or taxi, drive a car, or better yet just walk. After a long day sightseeing come home to your cozy home-away-from home and have a great glass of California wine in the garden. Make dinner in your full kitchen, or go out to one of the countless wonderful restaurants in our beautiful city. Have breakfast in your kitchen, or in the main room watching the news, or better yet in the lovely morning sun in the garden. When it is time to sleep sink into your queen sized bed. Enjoy the free WiFI to keep connected while away and go home with all clean clothes after using the free washer and drier! Most of all, just enjoy being in the most beautiful city in America!!
We are world travelers who settled in San Francisco because it is where we always wanted to be. We love that we can be in the ocean one day and on the slopes the next. Living in a thriving city, but only minutes away from wilderness is a dream come true for us and we want to share it with you!
Kate Kern purchased this apartment in 2005
We chose this location because we are centrally located and can walk to work!!
You can't beat this place for value and quality in an expensive city! We spent 5 night here and while enjoying seeing this beautiful city it was nice to have this studio to come back to. Kate was a great hostess and was there if we needed her,but never intruded on us! The place is immaculate and the neighborhood it was located in is very nice and we never felt uncomfortable walking around it. If I ever come back I would certainly stay here again!
My Husband and I stayed at this lovely garden studio for our honeymoon last September. The place was very well furnished and we were able to use the kitchen to cook breakfast every morning. We enjoyed sitting on the patio drinking a cup of coffee. The location was good and we used public transportation which made getting much easier. We arrived late on our first night but were greeted with a note of congratulations and a bottle of champagne.Thank you Kate for providing us with such a lovely place to stay on our honeymoon..
Thanks, Bill and Julie
Me and 2 friends decided to stay in this studio apartment and we couldn't be more satisfied with the stay. The location is perfect to get everywhere using public transportation, it's also very calm, so once we hit back home we always had a good night rest. There are a few grocery shops pretty close to satisfy any quick need. The studio itself is big enough to fit 3 grown ups with no problem, and most likely a 4th with no issue whatsoever. We had enough space to be in our zone without any stepping over. Kate and her family are so nice and helpful, they gave us the trust to be there without ever complain or intervene. The rules are marked quite detailed, if you go through them everything will be great. And for us it was a great decision to have this place as our spot for our vacations. I will be in SF in a few months, and I will sure come back to this place!
Kate was very personable and offers great place to rent in an expensive city. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped with a toaster, coffee maker, full size stove and fridge. The couch was large and comfortable and the bathroom has a large shower with lots of linens provided. Access to a laundry machine was indispensable especially travelling with kids. Kate was kind enough to let us borrow some Thomas toys and my son was in heaven (which also gave his parents lots of relaxation time!). Some travel tips: Target and Trader Joes is about 3 blocks away. Bus #31 goes straight downtown, it's a bit bumpy and gets slow as it nears town (stopping every block to pick up people) but convenient nonetheless. Haughty/Ashbury area is about 10 blocks or take #43. Great brunch places a few blocks up from Haight (just stay on #43 when it turns onto Cole). This is also the bus to take if you are using the Big Bus and want to get picked up (the Haight stop is a popular one so even if the Big Bus is busy, you can get on). #43 will also take you to the Golden Gate park near the awesome children's playground/carousel and there's a Whole Foods on the corner. Walking to the park is ~25 mins.
Lastly, no stairs to contend with in this ground floor suite is nice, we did enough walking of hills each day out :).
This studio apartment is tastefully done, well organized and in a great location. Finding parking was not difficult. Many, many sites of interest are within walking distance. Our hostess Kate was there when you needed her and just a great person. We will stay here again on our next visit to San Francisco.
This trip was very special for us, well planned and much looked forward to.
Although the flat is in a good location and provides everything needed for two people, I think four people would find it cramped.
The Wi-Fi signal was poor and only really worked if you sat in the kitchen.
The bed was very comfortable but we were not offered a change of towels or bed linen for our two week stay. Although the property is listed as having a washing machine and clothes drier, they are in fact in the passageway outside the studio and not solely for visitors use.
The biggest problem we had is when we turned up with a hire car, expecting ‘off street parking’ as listed, the 1st morning we went out to find two parking tickets for £70. Kate kept insisting that we park at the bottom of the hill but we tried and was never able to find a space. We compromised by parking in front of the garage because Kate’s daughter “would be very angry” if we took her space! The deal was that we would leave our car keys to allow Kate to access her garage. The night before we left a very curt text was sent saying “you have left your car without keys, this is not acceptable. We need to park when we get home from work. Please come home and move your car”
We were in the studio at the time, having arrived a few minutes earlier!
Departure time is 11am but we were sent a text which actually awakened us at 7.11am telling us to follow instructions in folder which were to strip the bed and place all the linens in the laundry basket (although tenants are charged for cleaning)
There are signs around the studio reminding customers what they should and should not do and Kate asked our permission to let her go in to get things out of our fridge stored for her grandson’s party.
There were 33 positive reviews on this property but we were disappointed, we did not feel like we had our own space. It did not live up to our expectations.
We are very centrally located-an easy walk to Golden Gate Park, The Haight, and The Presidio. We are on major bus lines and have good parking in the neighborhood. Also close to a variety of coffee shops and cafes with three grocery stores also within a couple of blocks. Perfect for any festivals in GGP-Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Outside Lands or the many 5K-K runs in the city.
