No 20 rue de la Liberté is a peaceful house in the amiable, agreeable Faubourg, a few metres from the shore, and overlooking the sea. A characterful fisherman's cottage on four floors, it has been fully, cheerfully and appropriately modernized for living in this century! The open-air loggia at the top looks over the sea, the Templar château, and the emblematic church-cum-lighthouse of Notre Dame des Anges - we took the photo of ND des Anges from the loggia. Sea, beach, shops, restaurants and waterfront cafés are less than a minute's walk. Ground floor: kitchen-dining room First floor: twin room with a third pull-out bed, en suite shower and WC - self-contained and perfect for a couple or the children! Second floor: double bedroom with large double bed, and the bathroom next to it.

Collioure is a small, graceful old fishing port in the lee of the Pyrennees. It sparkles with life, and days are pleasant here. The summers are warm and the winters mild: the sun shines for 320 days or so a year. Steeped in history and yet offering a myriad of activities for all ages and interests. Families, couples, creative souls looking for a peaceful yet stimulating haven. The magnificent coastal light begat Fauvism.

Additional information about rental rates

  • 2009 prices held. Early booking recommended.

    Linen including bedlinen and towels, household linen and beach towels is available at £15/person/week.

    Electricity is free of charge from 1st May-2nd October. Until 1st May and from 2nd October it will be charged at the EDF (Electricité de France) rate in force at the time.

    Internet access and a telephone with landline are provided free of charge - you just pay for any calls you make at the supplier's cost applicable at the time.
  • A refundable security deposit of £200 is due eight weeks prior to your holiday start date.

    For High/Peak Season bookings: fortnightly or longer bookings preferred until June, or seven weeks ahead of your holiday, whichever is the longer; weekly High/Peak Season bookings accepted after those dates.

    Any period of two consecutive weeks or more qualifies for a £30 discount.

    Both Christmas and New Year weeks have been shifted to Wed-Wed to allow for the fact that the festivities fall on the weekends. They can be booked for the discounted price of £995 for the fortnight.

  • Sleeping a maximum of 8, including a baby in the cot, all beds are roomy and very comfortable. The bedrooms have full-length mirrors and plenty of storage. 2nd floor: The main bedroom has a King-size bed with two separate mattresses, a small library of recent fiction, the internet router, and a bedside phone - and is conveniently next to the main bathroom. 1st floor: Large twin bed-sitting room (with third pull-out bed) and shower and loo en suite. There’s a selection of books and games, and a TV. Self-contained and perfect for a couple - or the children. The iron and ironing board are in here. Top floor: Light, bright sitting room with a good, easily-converted sofa bed, and French doors opening onto the loggia. There is a large TV, the midi hifi radio, tape and CD player, and a selection of games in here. (A loggia is a covered terrace which is open at the front. This one has a fridge, table, chairs, and the sea view).

Golf: At Mas d'Huston at nearby St Cyprien (17 km) there are an 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole course both with water hazards, offering stimulating play for both the experienced and the inexperienced golfer. Gastronomic restaurant with sea views, windsurfing lake. If you feel like a scenic drive (about 75 minutes) and a different kind of challenge, there is an 18-hole golf course at 3,500 feet set against a stunning backdrop in the mountains near St Laurent-de-Cerdans, at the Hotel Domaine de Falgos. Designed by Alain Dehaye, this challenging course rolls through south-facing valleys beneath Mt. Canigou. Visitors are welcome and the practice facilities include a 15 bay driving range with six covered, practice bunkers, putting green and approach green. The 18 hole course has a par of 70 and measures 5177 metres (5700 yards) off the back tees. Although not long (5177 metres from the white tees), Falgos is not easy having a slope rating of 136. (In France the Slope indicates course difficulty - 100 representing an easy course, 150 severe difficulty and 113 a neutral rating - so Falgos at 136 is towards the difficult end!). The course calls for accurate rather than distance shots and the fast, undulating greens can pose problems. With beautiful walks, the hotel also boasts a spa with a swimming pool overlooking the mountains, a well-equipped gym, sauna. hammam, jacuzzi, and massage and other treatments from friendly staff - making a great day out for non-golfing pa
