Beautiful log cabin style 1400 sq/ft house with an addtional cottage on the property with a kitchen, bathroom, two bedrooms, and a small living room. Newly purchased with many improvements on almost 3 acres with it's own dock and firepit. Additional pontoon available at a nominal expense and it includes gas.
Additional Bunk House: The addtional bunk house has two bedroom, a living room, bathroom and small kitchen. Great for kids or grandparents who want their own place.
We are just in from a long weekend stay at Mama Bear and already I can't wait to go back! This property is amazing! All the conveniences of lake front living and more. The cabin is roomy, the kitchen functional, coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher. Cable and Internet available. Then there's the bunk house. Another fully functional out building with numerous sleep spots, a small living area, and kitchen. There is a wrap around deck on the cabin and it is a most perfect place to take in all of the lake's glory. The morning steam, the birds, including heron an eagle and MY loon! There is also an enclosed porch. I love the porch. Yet another spot to take in the glories of the lake...from a rocking chair. The dock is rustic and accommodating. There are kayaks and an option to rent a pontoon. The lake is a no wake lake and that served me well during my maiden kayak adventure.
We will be returning again and again! You'll not find a better place for a get away! We had much fun and relaxation. Mama Bear is serene and soothing to the body, mind, and soul!
Our family stayed at Mama Bear for a week and truly enjoyed our stay. We brought a fishing boat and had a few fishermen with us who fished every day! A nice mess of Bluegill were caught but the biggest fish were caught right off the dock (by the kids!) The bunkhouse was nice for boys to stay in, and the bathroom in there made it that much more convenient. The deck is really nice and we spent a lot of time just sitting out back looking at the fabulous view. There is a great little swimming beach not too far from the house and the proximity of Freddie's Market and JD's Pizza came in handy during the week. We hit the market a minimum of once a day. Marc responded immediately to any and all questions (before and during) our stay and Denny & Sue (maintenance and housekeeping) are only a call away (if you need them). A few of us had stayed at Papa Bear several years ago so we knew we were in good hands!
My family and I spent a week at Mama Bear recently. We had 4 adults, 2 young kids and 2 infants. There was plenty of room for cribs and the younger ones loved the bunk beds in the loft! The new deck is beautiful and we had a great time sitting in the big rocking chairs watching the lake throughout the day. We rented the pontoon boat for the week too and it was wonderful. The guys didn't catch much of anything but they had fun trying and the kids loved riding to the beach on the boat. This is a great place to get some peace and quiet!
What a great time! If you are looking for a place away from it all, this is it. This area is very quiet and you don't have to worry about 4 teenagers making "too much noise." We used the fire pit every night. It was great. The boat, though nothing fancy and is not a "luxury" liner was "perfect" for 6 people fishing off of it. This is a fishing lake and you have to have a fishing boat! Though we caught no big fish (well, one was sort of a keeper), we don't keep to eat, we just fish for sport and the kids did catch fish! That was the reason we came to this place. It's also close to other things where we could go and roam about. Always go to the UP and surrounding lakes as well. Clear Lake was great.
While I had 4 teenagers in one place, it still worked out fine. Michigan has been hotter in the summer than normal, though the evenings do cool off the only thing I could recommend to Mark is get a small air conditioner for the upstairs. I have very big boys that like it cold and I made them stay in the loft and the girls stayed downstairs where the main air conditioner is. I had 2 extra people this year, so we had to make do.
Kayaks were great as well. Perfect for the lake. We had a great time. All the comforts of home and much more.

My husband and I recently took our two daughters and their families to "Mamma Bear" for an up north summer getaway. The house fit all of us comfortably and provided a perfect setting for fishing, kayaking, or just sitting on the back deck in the mornings with a hot cup of coffee to enjoy the view.
The house is fully equipped--plenty of kitchen items, two kayaks in excellent condition, a bonfire pit, and patio furniture. There is a well-stocked grocery store about a mile away, so we had all the conveniences of home, but a wonderfully secluded and quiet up north setting.
Our kids could not stop raving about how much fun they had and how Mamma Bear was a perfect place for us. We had a fantastic time and can't wait to return!
Newly purchased and improved home on Crooked Lake. Up North, modern log cabin theme with 3 bedrooms and additional bunk house that sleeps 2-3 people. Main house has 1.5 bathrooms and the bunk house has one bathroom and a kitchen.
Next door to the other two Atlanta listings. Great for large events and family reunions. Dock, firepit, garage with additional pontoon boat available. Just purchased all new furniture with a 50' Plasma HDTV with HBO.
