Our Tropical Penthouse is at the end of the second building and affords that extra peace and quiet that you search for when you want to get away from all of the hustle & bustle. We are located on the third floor and occupy a portion of the fourth floor, due to our soaring ceilings, which allow for a more open feeling. There are only a few of these unique penthouses on the entire island! (Actually, there are no high-rise buildings on Sanibel, but these units are fondly referred to as ''penthouses''). The 1,385 square feet are all on a single floor.

From our enclosed and beautifully-furnished lanai, you can enjoy a quiet breakfast overlooking the well-manicured courtyard and watch the birds light on the palms, Bougainvilleas, and lush foliage. And there is a partial view of the beach.

Take the stairs or elevator outside, stroll through the courtyard, pass one of the largest pools on the island, and within a couple of minutes, you will find yourself on the world-renown shelling beach, gazing at the aqua waters with nothing between you and Mexico. Your only decision now is whether to sunbathe, swim or walk--without a care in the world.

Later you may want to walk, bike, or ride to local shops & restaurants. Or cross the bridge to find malls, larger grocery stores, movie complexes, and city conveniences

Family Memories at The Tropical Penthouse: Our family purchased this condo in 1974, and we kept it as our special family retreat, affording us an abundance of wonderful memories. We had fun redecorating several times, and always kept the tropical theme. We only began to share our secret and to rent a few years ago.

We love to swim out to the buoy, lounge on the beach and read books to each other, bird and people watch, and bike 27 miles on safe bike trails. We go to Captiva, have a Starbucks soy milk and bike back again. We kayak, dance and dine at elegant restaurants as well as eat out at the casual restaurants, shop at Periwinkle Place, eat homemade ice cream at Pinochio's, watch a sunset on the beach, and take romantic walks. Sometimes we even relax and fall asleep on the beautifully hand-carved bed with the comfy mattress, while ocean breezes surround us. We breathe deeply and sleep soundly. We are in our Tropical Paradise!

Why June Casella chose Sanibel Island

Our family purchased this condo in 1975, and we kept it as our special family retreat, affording us an abundance of wonderful memories. We had fun redecorating several times, and always kept the tropical theme. We love to swim out to the buoy, sit on the beach and read books to each other, bird and people watch, bike 27 miles on the paths, kayak, dance and dine at elegant restaurants as well as eat out at the casual restaurants, shop at Periwinkle Place, visit Naples, eat homemade ice cream at Pinnochio's, watch a sunset on the beach, and take a romantic walk. We had a wonderful vacation- even the weather was perfect! I loved soaking in the beauty and spending unhurried time with my family. I purposely tried to avoid checking email, but appreciate you checking in with us to see how it was going.



Royal Shell took care of a bulb replacement in the master bath and everything else worked fine. We thoroughly enjoyed your place and see why you love it there so much. How wonderful for you that you've been able to enjoy it for so many years!

Exactly as stated in the listing even prettier in person decor beautiful!Thank you for letting us rent your beautiful condo! Had a wonderful time! Everything we needed in the kitchen loved having a washer and dryer! Plenty of towels nice showers very comfy bed it is a queen size in master but its plenty big and comfy:) the lanai is so nice to sit and drink morning coffee or just sit and relax and look at the beautiful land scape.. The only draw back I noticed was the master had a dirty smell couldn't identify but bothered me it didn't smell clean I took sheets off and washed them it was still there, needs some febreese or scent plugins, besides that it was awesome!

Owner's Response: Fortunately, I read this review mid-week while my guests were still vacationing at my home. I emailed and called Gala. I was happy that she was enjoying the décor, well-equipped kitchen, comfy bed, lanai, and the many other appointments that my home offered. We could not understand why there was an odor in the master bedroom. We narrowed it down to a mattress pad. I contacted my management company, and they delivered a new one to her the following day.

I was sorry that she did not contact them or me sooner, so that the problem could have been rectified 3-4 days earlier. As an extra precaution, I have had my management company immediately employ new housekeepers for my home.

I spend thousands of dollars yearly for a management company to insure that our guests get lots of TLC. The company is available (24/7)—answering service at night. When guests have special requests, we are more than happy to accommodate them immediately. The company is located about a mile away and has always been quick to respond.

Guests have been accommodated with small needs (beach towels, extra linens, additional hangers, a pizza pan, a new iron, etc.). Larger needs have also been satisfied.

Many of our guests have become good friends with us and return yearly to exprerience our beautiful, tropical paradise. They tell us that our place feels “like a home”, that it “exceeded expectations,” and that it is “awesome”. Several times a year we stay at our very special retreat to give it the care that it needs and to also enjoy its ambiance. We are so thrilled when our guests tell us how much that they also enjoy our home!!!

Very happy renter!

It would be very difficult to find a Sanibel condo that is more beautifully updated & decorated than this tropical penthouse. We were delighted to be able to spend a week in this immaculate, attractive & well-appointed condo. Most rental units appear tired and as though they haven't been redecorated in 20 years, but NOT THIS ONE! The owners have displayed beautiful artifacts from their travels which adorn the unit. The lanaii is enclosed, so we could enjoy this extra space even during rain storms & high temperatures. You can't go wrong renting this lovely unit...and best of all, it's on wonderful Sanibel!!! By the way, the owner is great also!

Underwhelmed

The condo was as described. I was disappointed with the very dirty carpet thoughout the unit and the small dated bathrooms. I was horrified with the bugs in the kitchen. I know the literature cautions you from leaving food out, but we had muffins in a bakery box AND a plastic bag and the sight of the muffins the next morning shocked even my husband. The kitchen sink had a drip and the dishwaher was not secured to the cabinet and tipped when you opened the door all the way down .I did like the decor, especially in the master bedroom. The pool was nice as was the proximity to the ocean. I enjoyed drinking my coffee on the lanie in the morning. It was nice having the washer and dryer in the unit. The lawn chairs were nice to take down to the beach, but there were no beach towels or beach umbrella. We rented bikes and Billy's which was great--they were very accommodating.Traffic was quite heavy and it wasn't yet the peak of spring break--biking was the only way to go. If we go back to Sanibel, we would find another condo. Lots of great restaurants--loved Doc Ford's.

Owner's Response: Fortunately, the next 3 guest families who had stayed during the next 3 consecutive weeks experienced none of these issues. We received many wonderful compliments from them. The complex is vigilant with an extermination program. Since Loggerhead management stated that there were no reports of insects within the entire complex of almost 200 condos, I may assume that there were insects/eggs in the plastic bag (mentioned above) previous to arrival. The guests immediately following Patti had volunteered to be a reference for The Tropical Penthouse. I am happy to share this reference any time. Having had the advantage of reading the above review just prior to posting, I had my management company check my home and advise. They said that all was in good order. The carpet was “fine” (it had been cleaned in January). They secured the dishwasher and repaired the drip. I scheduled another carpet cleaning anyway for guests who would arrive March 31. I spend thousands of dollars yearly for a management company to insure that our guests get lots of TLC. The company is available (24/7)--answering service at night. While we try to assure that everything is perfect, some times guests have had special requests. We are more than happy to accommodate, and the management company is a phone call away. Unfortunately, the management company was never contacted by Patti, or her issues would have been resolved immediately. We are sorry that this happened, but there is nothing that we can do to rectify an unreported problem of a month ago. Guests have been accommodated with small needs (beach towels, extra linens, more hangers, a new iron, etc). Larger needs have also been satisfied. At different times we had a washer/dryer replaced and a new HVAC system installed--all within a few hours. The guests were hardly inconvenienced; they were very understanding and were happy about the outcome. Last year a new tub, shower surround, & hardware were installed within a 3 day period between guests' visits. If a service or item is needed, we want our guests to let us know. We try to do everything possible to make sure that our guests' vacations are the best that they can be! Many of our guests have become good friends with us and return yearly to enjoy our beautiful, tropical get-away. They tell us that our place feels “like a home” and that it “exceeded expectations.” We enjoy our very special retreat and are thrilled when guests tell us how much they enjoy it too!

Wonderfull Tropical Penthouse

We had two wonderfull weeks in the verry tastfully decorated and comfortable "Tropical Penthouse". Everything worked excellent and even our late arrival was no problem. During our stay June was in contact with us and provided us with helpfull informations. We enjoyed the large pool every day, especially during the adultswimming time. So we could use the full length.
It should be mentioned that the condo is even better than described. We could have stay untill end of January!

Perfect

What a wonderful place for our vacation! We stayed with our 3 grown sons. It had all the comforts of home. We loved playing cards on the lanai and it also served as a great place for to escape when ESPN was on. Location was perfect. Just a short walk to the beach and the pool was wonderful. The owners call it their family home. It really felt like that. The pride they take in it really show. I cannot wait to go back!

What a Wonderful Trip we had last week at Sanibel-Capitiva Island!! Your Condo is Beautiful and was everything you said it would be!! We didn't want for anything because you had it all. Very Cozy and Confortable! The day we arrived my husband took a much needed catnap on the Lanai. June was so sweet and easy to talk with. We also recommend a trip with Captiva Cruises to Caya Costa Island. Well worth the money. The guides and staff were very nice and the island was so nice. Great Shelling in Crystal Clear waters and saw Dolphins on the way. Perfect Day and a Perfect Trip!!!

Loggerhead Cay has a huge pool, outdoor bathrooms for convenience, outdoor BBQ Grills and Tennis Courts. The main shopping area is Periwinkle Place. Have a relaxing facial, massage or manicure/pedicure at the day spa. Enjoy a live theater performance in season at the playhouse. Watch a recent movie at our tiny movie theater at Baileys. Some guests have taken a short drive into town during the spring to see the training grounds and training of the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins. There is very quick, easy access from Loggerhead to the causeway, if you want to leave the island and explore the area. You may enjoy a wonderful tour of Thomas Edison's home in Ft Myers.
