Reconnect with yourself at Sole e Luna. Watch the sunrise over the gulf from your bedroom deck then spend long, lazy days at the beach or just lounging by your private pool. Top it all off with a poolside barbecue and a late night walk on the beach under a blanket of stars while the moon shimmers over the water.
It’s beach life the way it was meant to be -- quiet, natural and unspoiled. Let the kids dig on the beach; join them shelling or digging for sand dollars. Watch porpoises sport offshore or search for rare sea turtles. You’ll love the private pool with outdoor shower and quick access to the wide, uncrowded beach -- just 2 minutes from your front door. Natural landscaping affords more privacy.
But, if you must keep that line to the rat race intact, Sole e Luna has cable and wireless internet access. A well-equipped kitchen offers the ability to cook gourmet meals or just keep those margaritas coming! The home is beautifully decorated with granite counter-tops and stainless steel appliances. Each bedroom has its own tile bath with Jacuzzi garden tub in one master. Ceiling fans throughout, along with three separate air-conditioning units keep the entire home comfortable even during the hottest summer months.
The layout of the bedrooms is as follows: Bedroom #1: Master with king bed, Bedroom #2: Master with king bed, Bedroom #3: Queen bedroom with bathroom, 4th bedroom is on the 3rd level of the home and is the only thing on that level. This is a great room for the kids as it has a full size futon and a chair that pulls out to a twin size bed. Please note, there is not a door to this room of the house. There is also a queen sleeper sofa in the living room.
Get back to who you were meant to be at SOLE E LUNA.
We live in Atlanta, and enjoy the short drive to the Cape San Blas beaches.
The Owner purchased this house in 2008
We love the quick escape from the 'active' city to this secluded area of Florida.
The house is lovely and the location is very convenient. Beach access was great -- with a beautiful beach just steps away.
Our issues were with the pool area. When we arrived the patio was a MESS! Garbage everywhere, large weeds growing up through the pavers, overgrown bushes everywhere, umbrellas broken, leaning and unusable. About half of the pool tiles from the tile border were missing. Also, there was a large amount of sand in the pool. We chose this house because we wanted a pool area to relax in when we were not at the beach. It was such a disappointment! Also, THERE IS NO BASKETBALL HOOP in the driveway like the photos show. I have 4 boys and we were looking forward to them getting to play some hoops -- we even bought a basketball to bring. Another disappointment.
On the second day, the power went out in about 1/2 of the kitchen making the microwave, toaster and other small appliances unusable. We reported it to the management company TWICE and nobody ever came out to fix it.
Also, there was no propane in the gas in the grill. Another inconvenience for us.
We have used VRBO for years and this is the first unfortunate experience we have had. I am hopeful the owner will take note of these issues and resolve them for future vacationers. We saved all year for our big vacation in Cape San Blas and I wish we could have a "do over!"
If only I could give zero stars...
Firstly, I'd like to say, my family has used VRBO for many vacation rentals, so I have a pretty good idea of what's to be expected.
We'll from the first day, check in is at 4 pm, we arrived shortly there after and were told it wasnt ready and may not be until 5:30. Not what you want hear after 6 hours in a car with young children... Still, not a big deal though.
Next, we arrive at the house, the pool is tiny and the majority of the pool is deep, not ideal for young children, and not what I expected. The pool area was very dated, broken umbrellas, trash laying around, unkempt bushes, broken stair lights (one of our children were cut on this)... Kind of a big deal
So, next I entered the kitchen, all of the appliances were grimy and gross, there was a thick layer of dust on the washer and dryer. Also found chocolate cereal and goldfish under my bed :/... Gross
Were still on the first day by the way...
Making dinner, expecting to grill, the propane tank was empty. Were easy to please but I didn't expect quite so many disappoints on the first day. So we cooked inside, then we decide to go for a swim. The pool felt and smelled very highly chlorinated, we stayed in maybe a hour. When we got out, pink bathing suits had turned purple, my navy blue suit turned completely pale gray, black suits turned brown... Ruining 8 swim suits in one day isn't cool, they aren't cheap to replace.
We called the office to complain and we were told the manager wouldn't be back for 5 days, but that he would call us back when he returned. We never got a call.
A few days later the pool man stopped in and I told him about the swim suits. He informed me that the day we arrived he shocked the pool, adding 6 pounds of chlorine. We definitely should have been informed of that! Totally unacceptable! Oh, and he said the reason was because someone had pooped in the pool. Wow, and we weren't notified upon arrival? Disgusting!
I could go on and on about the terrible events we experienced here, but Im getting close to my limit for allowable words for the review.
During the middle of the stay, we had a knock at the door, it was the pest control company wanting to come in and spray. Doesn't seem appropriate during our vacation. We told him he can spray the exterior, but he left. A week after we left the house, we noticed our entire family had come down with LICE. No wonder why pest control came. Who would I recommend this rental to? Absolutely NO ONE!
We just completed our second vacation to Cape San Blas...the last time on the far end of the peninsula (several more miles from town) and this time at Sole E Luna. The house is wonderful...the best stocked kitchen we've ever encountered when it comes to the things you need that you just don't want to carry with you or go out and buy...even spices which my wife loved. We were there with my 4 daughters, one granddaughter (2 and a half) and two son-in-laws. Here's the good...well decorated, well equipped, wonderful beds, big showers, definitely upscale in both furnishings and overall quality of house, balconies were awesome, having a pool was great, washer and dryer was GREAT, close to beach (note that there are lots of regulations about building around sand dunes so walks to beach have to go OVER the dunes...thus the steps mentioned in other reviews...a slight workout but manageable...but yes, a stroller would be a bit of a struggle...maybe go down to the park where there is vehicle access (yep...you can drive on the beach)...view was awesome...Cape is a very quiet without much in the way of commercial stuff and most housing is single homes...NOT condos or hotels...so beaches are not crowded and nights are quiet...close enough to both Port St. Joe and Apalachicola for dining out or shopping (no malls...yah!) Lots of positives...but here's the few negatives...pool needs updating/cleaning/fixing up...patio is a mess...but pool was clean and warm and fun...roof had leaked upstairs so there was some wall damage (owner was coming next day...maybe to fix up), TV is IP TV...poor performance and weak on channels (only matters if it rains), beach was awesome but water was murky...much clearer at the State Park...not the owners fault...storms)...note...cell service is horrible but frankly we didn't care (ok..1 daughter cared :)) Bedding was great for 3 bedrooms (2 King 1 Queen, but the 3rd floor "futon" and pull out were not comfortable...btw...to say "sleeps 11 but the contract stipulates no more than 8" is a bit strange...not a problem but more of a "huh???"
Conclusion...awesome week in a wonderful location...we will definitely go to the Cape again...and we'd DEFINITELY stay at Sole E Luna again...thank you for a wonderful week!!!!!
The house was great! It was nicely decorated with everything you would need. However, the pool area is a bit dumpy. There is trash in the flower beds and weeds galore. The pool area could use some work!
The beach access involves 22 steps! A bit challenging for strollers and beach gear!
