Overview

Columbia Falls Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 5)

Get away from it all and relax. This peaceful Montana cabin is located at a ''special place'' on Spoon Lake just steps away from Glacier National Park. Twenty minutes to Glacier International Airport, thirty minutes to Flathead Lake-the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi and just minutes away from the small towns of Columbia Falls and Whitefish (See guestbook comments below).

Experience Montana in this cozy cabin on the lake. Spoon Lake is a beautiful and quite lake with abundant wildlife. Relax under the cedars on the hammock and listen to the loons call. Fish from the private dock and catch perch, bass, sunfish or take the row boat out to the deeper waters to catch Cutthroat trout. Swim on a warm afternoon, pick huckleberries or take a hike on forest service land. Relax around the campfire or roast some marshmallows as you watch the sunset across the lake.

The cabin is located on Spoon Lake, right off the North Fork Road and only a few minutes from the western park boundary. Our location offers convenient access to all the hiking, fishing, rafting and recreational spots along the North Fork of the Flathead River. From your base at Aspen Shores Cabin you can set out and explore. Hike the national park trails and take in the stunning beauty of Kintla and Bowman Lakes in the less traveled portion of the park. From highway 2, you can reach Apgar Village at the main west entrance to Glacier National Park. From there, drive the spectacular. Going to the Sun road to Logan pass where mountain goats roam free.

Serene Lakefront Cabin is conveniently located close to Columbia Falls. Explore and shop in the quintessential western town of Kalispell, just 25 miles away, and enjoy the charm and culture of Whitefish only 18 miles away. Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, is just 35 miles to the south.

Back at Serene Lakefront Cabin the pace can slow, allowing all your cares to melt away. The peaceful waters of Spoon Lake are a perfect setting with no motorboats or jet skis to disturb the wildlife. We focus on the outdoor experience and our cozy cabin provides the opportunity to come close together as family and friends. You can cook in the easy access kitchen while you watch the activities on the lake. Barbecue on the gas grill or warm yourself and play games in front of the elegant Waterford gas stove after a fine day of hiking, shopping or exploring. Climb the stairs to the cozy bedroom complete with king bed and two twin beds, or open the futon in the living room and sleep right in front of the glowing fire. On warm days let the breeze blow through and smell the mountain air.

Enjoy a discount by booking stay dates before June 15th or after September 15th. If our calendar is full for the dates you are interested, check the adjacent identical cabin at VRBO listing #254419 or HomAway #905982 for dates and availability.

These times offer a quieter and slower paced experience by avoiding the crowds of the peak season. In the spring you can catch hungry fish and watch as the wildlife emerges from the long winter. In the fall enjoy the colors of the turning tamarack trees while watching the wildlife prepare for the coming winter. If our calendar is full for the dates you are interested in, ask about the availability of the nearly identical adjacent cabin.

The cabin was amazing!!! We couldn’t believe how much stuff there was here for us in the cabin. Would love to come back here for sure!! The loons were so pretty to listen to in the morning. Thank you for everything! Very Beautiful!

Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us! We are a family of 5 (2 teens and a 12 year old). The cabin was perfect. We spent time both in the park (mostly West side) and here on the lake. The kids loved to swim and paddle around the lake! We saw one of the loons floating along from the porch one day! Going to the sun Road was open, and we loved it! We were above to hike Avalanche Lake, visit Lake McDonald and stop at many of the spectacular falls and vistas along the way. We hiked on snow packed ground in our shorts and T shirts at Logan’s Pass. There were people sledding, skiing and building snowmen. Some who were in flip flops or sandals were regretting it, though. The weather has been beautiful (75-85 degrees) and no rain. We are headed to the East side today to stay at a KOA cabin. We hope to visit Two Medicine, Many Glacier, and St. Mary’s. Thank you again!

We were here for a week from the San Jose, CA area. We love the location – so close to Glacier that we visited nearly every day. Highlights – Going to the Sun Road, Logan Pass, Glacier via Polebridge, dinner at Three Forks Grille, Best Pizza at Glacier Grille and Pizza (not the best service though). Thank you for providing such a lovely place to serve as our home base as we explored Glacier! We appreciated the cozy cabin. The many supplies and amenities and the boat which was used for evening fishing many nights.

We had a great time here at the cabin. We were impressed at how well stocked the cabin was. Even bear spray! Wow! The loons were great fun to watch and the kids loved the rowboat. It was wonderful to have a comfy place to come to after a rainy hike. We didn’t see much wildlife on this trip. There was a bald eagle flyover at Lake McDonald, a few other birds, but not much else. I was impressed that you had filed guides and binoculars. This was such a calm, peaceful place. We didn’t want to leave.

''The wildlife has been something to behold! Seven Black Bears, two Mountain Goats, Deer and the majestic beauty of the Loons! We will never forget.'' Carl & Lola

''I love this place! The lake is so peaceful and good fishing too! It took a while to find the spot but we found it and caught a mess of fish (5 Trout, 1 Bass, and more Perch and Sunfish than I can count). It's beautiful on the lake and I hope I can visit again someday when I have kids.'' Alan G.

''We experienced abundant wildlife at the lake: Loons, Mallards, Hares, Osprey, and Hummingbirds. The family of Loons greeted us every morning. The fire pit outside was tremendous for grilling tasty dinners and making use of the marshmallow skewers for dessert! We can only hope that your stay in Montana is as memorable and spiritual as ours has been. We are saddened as we pack our belongings because this is truly God's country.'' Sincerely Travis & Katie

''We had such a great time here-you made us feel right at home. The cabin is so clean & comfy. This little corner of the world is truly paradise. The lake, the cabin, the whole setting is just so peaceful & relaxing. We can't wait to come back.'' Wendy & Eddy

''Spoon Lake is a dream. Beautiful views, enchanting Loons, heavenly scents in the air and the sky seems so big! Thank you so much for providing such a lovely cabin & for sharing your piece of heaven. We had a new adventure everyday but particularly enjoyed returning here.'' Mary, Greg, Alexis & Conner

Guestbook comments from the owner

Bill and Eliska,

We loved your cabin. It was what you described on the website and more. It was well-equipped, comfortable, and very fun to be in. You have the place well supplied with towels, blankets, soap, kitchen tools, pans, and outdoor seating. We found it easy to get ready in the morning and hang out at night. We had one fire (mostly we were too tired at night). The loons were wonderful--such a pretty sound in the morning and at night. The bug spray was helpful and we used it on one hike (Bowman lake). The beds were very comfortable.

It was just perfect for us. We liked that you had comfortable places to sit and read.

Thanks again. We loved the view from the cabin. It was so close to Glacier!!! We were there everyday. We went on a wonderful rafting trip with Great Northern. We did an overnight and they supplied tents, sleeping bags, wet suits, and lots of delicious food (steak on the grill, brie and honey with pears and apples...)

couldn't have asked for a more relaxing spot to celebrate the start of my retirement!!! The cabin was quiet, clean and had all the supplies you could need yet close enough to columbia falls to visit family there or to explore the park and all it's beauty. I would absolutely come back. Nothing like watching the loons while having morning coffee. thank you for sharing your place.

Perfect, quiet cabin!

  • 5 of 5
This summer our family chose to visit Glacier National Park for our family vacation. We found this cabin close to the West entrance, and were definitely not disappointed! Our boys, ages 7 and 9, couldn't believe their eyes when they saw the fishing dock, and the rowboat. Each day they couldn't wait to finish hiking in the park to come "home" to fish. We bought them fishing poles in town and they caught tons of sunfish from the dock. The cabin itself was incredibly clean and well stocked. We thought the bedroom upstairs would be inconvenient, but it wasn't at all! It actually kept everything nice and clean up there, since we only went up to sleep. We were sad to leave but we will definitely be back. The owners are very kind and we highly recommend this cabin!

Quiet Getaway

  • 3 of 5
This property was a good find, and the owners are very nice. There is another cabin that is pretty close to this one (a sister cabin), but you don't spend much time on that side of the cabin, so you probably wouldn't notice them unless you're sitting on the front porch when they are. We didn't utilize the boat (didn't see it, actually), but we did have a fire a couple of nights. Note that there is now a fence relatively close to the fire pit to give some privacy from the large cabin that is not a "sister cabin" and is a bit further away. Everything was very clean and exactly as the owners had stated. The ladder to the loft is pretty steep, so I wouldn't suggest this for older folks. The only truly unsatisfactory part of the stay was the "king size" bed - which isn't abnormally short as stated in the description - it's simply not a king-size bed .. it's two twin beds pushed together. Meaning there is a large seam (hole) down the middle of the bed. So - if you're wanting to sleep with your other half it won't be in the "king size" bed upstairs - it will be on the hide-a-bed in the living room downstairs. Otherwise things are up to speed, plenty of kitchen sundries left by very nice prior guests, and the access to the Park is perfect!

Owner's Response: We are glad this guest enjoyed our quiet setting and cabin. We have never had a complaint about the upstairs bed, but we will address the issue and correct any problems we find. The boat is located right on the shore below the cabin, and may not be visible from the cabin if it is not tied up at the dock. We usually have the boat out of the water when guests arrive. We stock all the supplies and "sundries" such as zip lock bags, aluminum foil, soaps, shampoo as part of the cabin rental.

Honeymoon Retreat

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I spent a week at VBRO property # 221527. We had a relaxing and wonderful time. Great memories were made. We both caught plenty of yellow perches off the dock. They were small of size but it was fun. They never stopped biting. We also caught 2 Cutthroat trouts ~ 13" and an 11". Gave plenty of fight!

The cabin was so close to Glacier NP! We took the short cut path to GNP and saw some wildlife along the way. One morning, it was a black bear. Another, it was a moose and some white tail deer.

Would highly recommend the property to friends and family!

Beautiful Lake and Cabin

  • 5 of 5
We had are really fantastic time at Aspen Shores Cabin on Spoon Lake. Our boys loved fishing, boating and hiking on the trail around the lake. We saw beaver dams and lodges, turtles, dear, eagles, loons, ducks. The people next door saw a Moose near the cabin earlier this year.

The cabin was very clean and cozy, just what we wanted for our Montana vacation. Everything was provided for us. It was very relaxing just sitting out in front of the cabin, in the hammock and listening to the loons.
