Its very peaceful and quiet. Perfect for individuals who are from the city and would like to experience a country and a rustic house feel.
Had a great stay, and was very comfortable at the hideaway, was very private and had a great hot-tub, the only concern was the bug situation outside on the house, but there was lots of bugs all over Shenandoah, so I think it was more of the season, but I would check for wasp nests and other nests in the gutters because they were not clean, but overall we had a great time
Me and my family (wife, son,&dog) signed up to rent this property on the same day we showed up. We got there later in the day around 8:00 pm. Shortly after getting there we noted that the hot water heater was not working. Normally a trip killer for a vacation rental. Not at this rental, we called the property management company who in turn called the owners. And within a hour the owner of the property was going under the home to reset the water heater. At night in the dark. Amazing! The next few days where great. The local town was picture perfect. Plus the locals were very friendly. Areas to check out Luray's visitor center (to start), and Luray caverns. There are great small shops and restaurants in town minutes away. A grocery store is even closer. But you would not even know it was that close unless you drove by it on the way to the home. Also the wifi was super fast a plus for me because I was on R&R from a military deployment and needed to still be able to email. With that said our cell phone barely worked (Verizon iphones) because of no coverage, to make a call you had to walk to the road. That was a plus in my book. 10 out of 10.
We enjoyed our stay at the home. The caverns were really close and so was the park so we really appreciated the proximity to the activities we were doing. The house was smaller than we expected, especially the bedrooms. My husband is a little taller than average 6'1 and had some issues, but overall we the accomodations were nice. We took the dog for a few walks in the woods nearby and he chases a rabbit or two, so I'm sure he enjoyed himself (at home we only have deer).
We (2 adults) stayed for a month in this 2-bedroom house while we explored Luray and the Shenandoah Valley, and quite enjoyed it. The house has a large, decent kitchen, a living room, dining room, and half-bath downstairs, and two bedrooms and a full bath upstairs.
It is right off the main highway less than 5 minutes from downtown Luray. It is down a bit and separated by trees, so it feels very secluded. You can't see any neighbors, and when you are out in the back yard it is quiet. The hot tub is right off the porch out the back door, and was well-maintained - definitely our favorite part. We enjoyed relaxing in it every day, and the view from it was of the nice trees in the back yard, and the occasional deer.
The owners are nearby and very prompt to fix any problem - wonderful people.
The reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 is that while the house was adequate for our needs, it didn't have any of the features a really great vacation rental has. There were a few bugs that kept finding their way into the downstairs area, the furniture was good but not great, the kitchen was fine but lacked a few cooking things I consider essentials and had to go buy (a large frying pan, a pie pan, casserole dish...I like to cook), the bathroom had no towel rods to hang towels on, and the towels themselves were not very big. All told, minor annoyances, and nothing that bothered us too much, but if you are looking for a granite-countertop-style rental this isn't it.
We loved it because it was private, comfortable, roomy, and had that awesome hot tub. Would definitely go back in the future!
