Nature and Golf: The Fort Morgan peninsula is filled with local flavor and offers unique access Mobile Bay, Little Lagoon and the white beaches of the Gulf of Mexico (just four miles from the house). A public boat launch is just three miles away. The Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge offers pristine Gulf beaches, wonderful hiking trail, and birdwatching opportunities.
History buffs will enjoy the ruins and museum at Ft. Morgan and her sister, Ft. Gaines, which is a ferry's ride across Mobile Bay to Daughlin Island. Several golf courses are within a few miles - The Peninsula Golf Club is located just across the street and features 18 holes, a pro shop and restaurant. You'll find 36 holes of Pure Palmer Golf at Craft Farms, Cotton Creek, and Cypress Bend - just 10 minutes.
Not Interested in Beach Every day?: Gulf Shores is conventiently located between Mobile, AL (home of first Mardi Gras) and Pensacola, FL, home of the Blue Angels. Mobile is easily accessible via the Dauphin Island Ferry just 17 miles west on Hwy 180. Penscola is only 45 miles east along the scenic AL and FL Gulf coastline. One-day excursions easy to either for change of pace.
