Houseboat on famous canal in Amsterdam, the place you want to be!

Imagine waking up on a houseboat to the gentle rocking of small waves. Having breakfast and sharing it with the duck and swans who pass by your window and want a scrap. Or waving to the people who pass by in small boats enjoying a day out on the water. Or just looking out and seeing the most beautiful 17th and 18th century canal houses and warehouses ouside your window. Not to mention when you step out and you will find lots of nice restaurants, cafes, outdoor terrasses and lovely shops all aroud the area. This is also a preffered neighbourhood for the locals who live in the luxury converted loft apartments in the old warehouses. It''s a gayfriendly (gaypride parade), blowfriendly, dogfriendly and people friendly neighbourhood. The houseboat is situated on one of the oldest canals of the famous canalbelt. Most points of interest are in walking distance. The nice things you want to see in Amsterdam are in quite a small area of the city, so Amsterdam is really like a beautiful village.

Wonderful place in Amsterdam!

  • 4 of 5
This place is fantastic! We really enjoyed our stay here. A houseboat is definitely the way to go when visiting Amsterdam. The location of this houseboat couldn't be better. Right around the corner is a super market and laundromat. It is within walking distance of a lot of Amsterdam's attractions- we walked to the Van Gogh museum, Anne Frank House, and Albert Cuyp market.

We were lucky enough to run into one of the owners at check-in right outside of the houseboat. We had made arrangements to call when we arrived, but a word of warning that none of the pay phones around Amsterdam are functional- they are all broken. So make other arrangements to get into the houseboat if you are not going to have cell service. We were very fortunate- crisis averted.

Totally recommend staying here!

Best Idea Travel Idea For Amsterdam

  • 5 of 5
I consider renting this houseboat one of my Top 5 travel decisions of all time. Cozy and nice - the houseboat is located outside of the main town center (thank goodness!). It was quiet at night and great to have a coffee on the porch in the morning.

Patricia the owner - is super accommodating and provides a guest book of recommendations in the are of places to eat. - TAKE HER ADVICE! We tried some places on our own but she really knows her area and had great coffees, sandwiches at her recommendations.

You are close to a main street of shopping and markets and coffeeshops and an ATM is close by.

You might have some canal guests begging you for food if you are outside (ducks).

I have a feeling a few of our friends traveling to the area might stay here based on our recommendation.

You should know there is another apartment next to you on the house boat. You can hear people walk around but nothing intrusive.

Great for couples.

Amazing stay in Amsterdam

  • 5 of 5
My boyfriend and I stayed at Patricia's houseboat for 3 nights over the Queen's Day weekend. There's no better way to stay in Amsterdam than on a houseboat! The houseboat is lovely - we felt so comfortable and at home there - we didn't want to leave. The location is perfect - within walking distance to all the major sights and the train station. Patricia was so responsive and accommodating prior to and during our visit. The kitchenette had everything we needed to prepare breakfast and snacks at boat and Patricia was kind enough to leave us a bottle of wine, a few beers, tea, coffee, and all the fixings. Patricia provided very clear instructions on how to get to the houseboat from the train station and provided a number of really great recommendations for food and drink in the area. The houseboat was very modern, fresh and clean and Patricia is close by and makes herself available incase you need anything during your stay. We will definitely recommend her boat to our friends and hope to stay there again in the future. Thanks again! Karen and Nathaniel, Toronto Canada

Best place to stay in Amsterdam!

  • 5 of 5
Stay at this houseboat was the best idea I have ever had!
I found it in HomeAway, and since the beginning, the owner, Patricia, was very kind, totally committed to help me.
When I got there (following the accurate directions from the Train Station), I was very satisfied. The houseboat is very cozy, well decorated, VERY well located, the balcony is amazing, the fridge was full of water, juice and even wine, and also, there was a book with a lot of local tips.
I stayed for 3 days, could go walking to everywhere, and was very sad by the time to leave. I feel like I could live there!
I strongly recommend it, and can´t wait to go back!

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! This is the most popular area of Amsterdam, the famous 'JORDAAN'. Here you will find many quaint shops, restaurants, cafes and outdoor terrasses. Also the famous twice-weekly antique- and farmers market is just around the corner. You will also find most points of interest within walking distance,to mention a few: Ann Franck House, the Nine Streets, Damsquare and the railway station is just 10 minutes away. This is the old part of Amsterdam, the 'canal belt' where there is a lot of people boating and enjoying the view from the water towards the old townhouses along the canals. You will find yourself in a 17/18th century picture looking at the beautifull old buildings and stolling along the canals. The Wester Culturepark is just a 10 minutes walk where you can enjoy, dining, movies, dancing or laying in the gras on a sunny day This is really the place to be and the best Amsterdam has to offer!! All in all, this is the best LOCATION!! LOCATION!! LOCATION!
