There are many separate living/dining areas including an Arkansas room and a dining table that seats 8 people. The house is just beautifully decorated and most of the rooms have gorgeous lake views.
House is 2944 Square Feet on over 1/2 Acre Lot.
This is a house which you won't want to leave. You can spend your days swimming and fishing from your own dock. Then spend your evenings grilling on the deck or watching the beautiful sunsets from your dock swing. The outside decks are quite secluded but also have absolutely wonderful lake views.
This house comes ready for fun including both a foosball table and ping pong table, board games and movies. With wireless internet access, fireplace, updated furnishings, 4 TV's, dock, and a very well equipped kitchen, there is something for everyone.
House is in Wonderful Hot Springs Village, which is a gated recreational community. HSV is a hidden gem that many families return to yearly for their vacations and many golfers frequent seasonally. It is an absolutely beautiful mountainous area with lots and lots of hills, beautiful trees and wildlife. The area provides a very relaxing and peaceful vacation for some while others can enjoy the activities without crowds, even in summertime or during holidays. As a guest staying at HSV, you can choose to play from any of HSV's 8 championship golf courses or visit any of our 11 lakes, 2 beaches and 2 marinas with recreational activities such as fishing, swimming and boating. You may also hike or bike on over 26 miles of wooded trails. There is also an outdoor pool complex, a playground area with mini-golf, basketball, tennis and pickle ball courts and Coronado Fitness Center with an indoor pool, spa, and clay tennis courts. Just 30 minutes away is the popular tourist destinations of Hot Springs and also Ouachita National Forest with Ouachita Lake and Marina and Ouachita Mountain State Park. Little Rock is 1 hr away.
House and private boat dock are on the beautiful Lake Cortez. Lake Cortez is the 3rd largest lake in the Villages. It is 245 acres and has a boat ramp. You can fish, swim, ski and tube in the lake. This lake is a very clear water lake which makes it really great for swimming and just relaxing in the water. It is also peaceful and calm since it is mainly used by only people living on the lake. This is a great lake for water skiing - with the mountains surrounding the lake breaking the winds and hardly any other boats - there are a lot of days with very smooth water for some great water skiing. You are usually the only boat around and feel like you are boating in your own wonderful private lake. Even on holiday weekends, you will only see a few boats during the day. It is a stocked lake with no public access -makes it great for fishing too. And our cove is deep, so fishing is even good off the dock. The lake so clear, you can sometimes see the big fish swimming by our dock. We have even been able to see the big fish from the windows in the Arkansas room. Lake is stocked with catfish, bass, crappie, gill and sunfish.
We have made arrangements so that our guests may reserve a pontoon boat to be parked at our boat dock during their stay. It is a great rate too - $125/day + gas, 3 day minimum. The cost for 3 days is barely over the price of renting at marina for just 1 day. And the best part is it will be parked and waiting at the boat dock right outside your back door. If you want to have the boat longer for even more fishing, more tubing or just want to have a leisurely boat trip each morning and evening - we have an even better deal - 6 days for $600 + gas. This also helps so you won't have to try to predict the best weather days for your boat rental.
We also have a tandem or 2 person kayak provided to our guests during warmer months to explore and have fun on Lake Cortez.
We have 4 TV's each with a DVR so you can easily record your favorite shows. House has the new DISH Hopper DVRs that come with some new great DVR features. The DISH Hopper automatically saves all recent prime time shows and if you choose to watch the prime time show after the day the show aired, you can choose to skip commercials. We subscribe to Dish Package 'America's Top 200 w/ HD' which includes the Golf channel. We also provide 2 DVD players, DVD movies and board games for your entertainment.
We are centrally located between the east and west gates of Hot Springs Village, providing easy access to most HSV destinations including all golf courses, beaches and restaurants.
House is in a very easy access location with noticeable landmarks enroute to help you not get lost. We are just off of Cortez Rd, which is a major HSV street. Please look at our map below to see our location within HSV.
If this is your first time to visit our wonderful Hot Springs Villages or just need activity or restaurant ideas, our house is stocked with area information and brochures for our guests. We also created 'Things to do' and 'Favorite Restaurants' sheets to help our guests know what has been popular.
If you love the outdoors, this area provides ample opportunities of new and different activities, and with a backdrop of those beautiful Ouachita Mountains. Anyone who loves outdoors activities will feel at home and probably fall in love with the area. If you are into hiking, golfing, boating, fishing, you could easily spend a month in this area and still have new things to do. Also many activities in close by Hot Springs and Little Rock.
And then you have our wonderful house to relax and rejuvenate in. It is a wonderful combination.

HSV is the greatest community for us to really enjoy a vacation. We have been vacationing in HSV for years. We love all the activities without the crowds. We enjoy being active at HSV. We also enjoy the quiet and relaxing areas. Only after purchasing the house did we figure out there are hardly any crowds even in the summer, when the kids are out of school. If you want a some what quiet vacation without many others around, HSV is the place. And if you want some bustle - just head over to Hot Springs for the day. We love having Hot Springs and Little Rock close for normal tourist activities and shopping.
This house is designed to make all guests have a great vacation and also feel pampered. Our goal is to hear that our guests expectations were exceeded. We have provided many choices for activities at our lake house. We have foosball, ping ping, a two person kayak and many board games and DVD movies. This is a great house for activities and also for relaxation. There are many areas to relax inside and outside. This house has great areas to view the sunsets over the lake and mountains, and amazingly, most days there will be a beautiful one. During the summer, there is a swing on the dock to relax on while enjoying the sunset. During the winter, the sun sets in a different location. You still view the sunset over the lake, but from the windows of the Arkansas room - where you can stay cozy and warm and watch the sunset. And the glow from the sky on the lake right after sunset is also beautiful. The full moons with reflections on the lake can be usually seen from the top deck.
We met our young adult children for a weekend at the Poates home. This home is very well equipped with everything you will possibly need. We went for a long weekend in October and the weather was still nice enough to enjoy the boat and the kyack. There was so much for everyone to do. We went into Hot Springs for dinner one night but other than that we didn't want to leave the deck and Arkansas room. We really enjoyed walking on the trails, breakfast at one of the golf courses and the amazing views. The only problem is you won't be ready to leave when it is time to go home!
It’s so easy to do a review on the Lake Cortez house! My husband and I went back a second time because we loved it so much the first time we were there last winter. Coming back during the fall was very special because we got to see the fall foliage, which was very beautiful. The house itself, no matter what time of year you go is always so enjoyable. The owners have thought of everything that anyone could want. Plenty of dishes, fresh linens, beautiful and comfortable furnishings and a view of the lake that is amazing! It’s just so relaxing to sit in the sun room inside of the house or out on the covered deck and enjoy the beauty of it all. We were lucky enough to have such great weather to get out on the kayak that was available to us and be able to experience the lake first hand. Steve & Tammy also furnished us with all of the necessary information for the surrounding areas to be able to get a complete taste of not only Hot Springs Village, but also Hot Springs and Little Rock. Hot Springs Village has plenty to offer with walking trails, farmers market on the weekend and if you enjoy golfing or lake activities. We even got out on a Fall Foliage boat tour on Lake Hamilton which was beautiful this time of year. However, downtown Hot Springs and Little Rock are also definitely places to take advantage of with the garden tours, plenty of great places for shopping and delicious restaurants, etc. We would highly recommend staying at this beautiful home with all of its amenities and can’t wait to return!
Very nice lakeside two-story house - much nicer than most rental properties we have ever visited. Great location right on the lake with two porches looking out over the lake. Very nicely furnished, good beds, fully furnished kitchen, HD TV with Dish. Lots of "toys" provided: foosball table, kayak, ping pong. Owner was prompt to respond to questions and provided lots of great "what to expect when you get here" notes to help us plan our trip. Can't wait to visit HSV again - and when we do, we'll be staying here again.
Our visit to Lake Cortez House in Hot Springs Village was amazing. We haven't had a family vacation for many years in part to career demands; etc. After seeing pictures and reading numerous outstanding reviews regarding Cortez House.....I knew it was the place for us. As it turns out, it was more than we had hoped for....it was perfect. I have never felt more comfortable and at home...away from home....as the four days spent there. House owners, Steve and Tammy, thought of absolutely everything that you could possibly need....including an ice cream maker found in a utility room closet! The views are simply breathtaking from the many rooms facing the lake. The most rewarding surprise was the privacy. Most times, we were the only ones present on the lake. The kitchen was totally equipped...which was nice and convenient....as we prepared most of our meals at the house. Outside on the upper deck is a grill that is by far, the best we have ever grilled on. The laundry room is fully equipped and it was great having all our laundry finished and ready to just put away when we arrived back home. I can honestly say...clothes and personal items are all that is really needed for a trip to this amazing house. Our intention was to enjoy most of our time at the house itself and on the lake. We do enough eating out and driving in cars while at home. We did venture out one night to have pizza at Charlie's Pizza Pub in the Village. It was a short drive (as many restaurants are) from the house and it was unanimously decided that it was some of the very best pizza we had ever had....anywhere! If you want great, friendly service and some awesome pizza...check them out while you are there! If you do forget something you need; Wal-Mart is a short drive as well. Many, many thanks to Steve and Tammy for allowing us to bring our precious boy Max (family dog.) We were so surprised that someone would open their beautiful home to someone who wanted to share a family vacation with a rather large family dog. It was the perfect vacation and Cortez House is the perfect place for family vacations to come. Thank you for making possible a wonderful vacation full of memories that will forever be treasured!
Tammy and Steve,
We love your house and the lake. You always make sure we have everything we need. We have rented this house for several years and are never sorry for doing so. We plan to return again!!! Thank you for sharing such a wonderful vacation home. The Keene's
We (two grandparents, parents, and three girls) spent a wonderful week at this ideal house. The owners have thought of everything. It's very well equipped and sparkly clean. Everything from the towels to the overstuffed chairs to the beds to the wealth of games to the kitchen appliances is first-class. We swam from the dock and kayaked. We rented the pontoon boat (which I strongly recommend); towed the kids on a tube, and found calm coves for swimming. Even the quiet moments were special: Feeding the fish at the dock, watching hummingbirds at the feeder, and just enjoying the lake view from the upper deck or the super comfortable Arkansas room. One recommendation: Visit Garvan Woodland Gardens and plan to spend at least 2 or 3 hours. All of us from the nine year-olds to the 71 old guy (me) enjoyed them greatly. We have rented quite a few vacation houses over the years. None was better than this.
