CHARMING WOODSTOCK CONTEMPO IN A DOG FRIENDLY, STATE PARK WONDERLAND

My wife, baby, dog, and I very much enjoyed our stay. The house is very unique, built and furnished/decorated with good taste and extreme care, using high quality, often reclaimed, materials. The house is set sufficiently far back from the road for privacy. You can bearly catch a glimpse of neiboring structures through the woods. There are cabins on the property but they apppered not to be in use. The deck is very nice, as is the beautifull sunroom/dining room. Everything in the house has charachter.

The main bedroom is a loft, so the house is great for a couple or a family. Sound travels very easily from the loft to the living room/kitchen. The few from upstairs is very beautifl and it's a pleasure to wake up in the loft looking at nature from the many windows. The second bedroom is very cozy, and if somebody goes to sleep earlier than the rest or plans to sleep in late they would need to stay in the downstairs bedroom that has a door. The beds are of good quality but very firm. I found them extremely comforable, my wife would prefer softer ones. There's a very nice looking "porch" area (no glass but mosquito netting) but with the light on, the bugs do get through at night in very large numbers, so we did not use it very much.

We were able to use the internet and watch a few DVDs on a small flat panel TV. We also used the stereo/radio. The house is stocked with CDs and board games as well. We had regular but poor cell phone reception at the house. The house phone is for local calls only (but ok for receiving calls)

Woodstock is about 10 minutes drive away and offers multiple good dining options as well as a supermarket in the vicinity. We went to a number of very tasty restaurants, on days we did not grill at home. We also visited Phoenicia... we were not impressed by that town.

There are some swimming holes nearby (5-10m drive). There's also a hike to a waterfall about 5-10 minutes drive away. We could not find a lake or pond for swimming in the vicinity... but I know there are some within a half hour drive.


The owners were a pleasure to deal with and responsive. The house was very clean when we arrived.

Mindy's home is a PERFECT getaway. Very spacious kitchen and dining room, great for family meals. Lots and lots of sunlight throughout the house. Large backyard for kids to run around. It is pet friendly so if you have allergies be prepared. Once again a fantastic and affordable rental.

My husband, dog, & I spent a wonderful Columbus weekend at this cozy cabin. It’s located slightly out of town and off a main road enough to spoil you with brilliant views of the mountains, supply plenty of woods to walk through but is still conveniently located for a quick drive into Woodstock. The Cabin itself was beautifully built so that it exuded the eccentric Woodstock flare as well a provided the warm, cozy, and charming feel so typical with rustic cabins. That’s what I particularly loved. With plenty of books and board games we spent a lot of quality time and didn't miss not having a TV. It was so nice to warm up by the woodstove or to chill out on the back porch while the dog roamed. This cabin was appealing to both me and my husband. He loved the wood burning stove, the stone and wood walls, and especially the 4 acres for us to wander while giving our dog some much needed room to run like a lunatic. Overall the owner was a pleasure to deal with, and the character, cleanliness, size, and location of this cabin made our stay the perfect getaway.We highly recommend this as an idyllic retreat for couples and small group. We hope others will enjoy it as much as we did. We look forward to our next stay and this time we are bringing friends.
