I handle the business & marketing side from the background whereas my Property Manager does all the hard work. Our guests really appreciate his efforts and makes a note of it in the reviews.
The Owner purchased this house in 1990
I chose to convert my home into a vacation rental based on demand in the DC market.
I believe you will feel very comfortable. It feels like a home away from home.
This home is comfortable and clean. Most everything we needed was there. It's a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Metro. Our group consisted of three couples and we stayed 10 nights. The middle bedroom is small and crowded but okay. Note the notice on the cupboard door in the picture, it warns you about the mice that will eat whatever you leave out. We did not feel safe on N. Capital street a short block away after dark. We did feel safe in the home. There were always small groups of men hanging around and panhandlers. We rented a car for two days and were happy to have off street parking. We never met Sherman. We would consider staying there again.
We really enjoyed our stay here, we loved coming "home" after a long day of sightseeing and relaxing, cooking dinner or picking up dinner and bringing it home to relax. We were two families, 9 total and had plenty of room. Sherman was very helpful at meeting us and helping us settle in. I would definately recommend your stay here. We mastered the Metro and wasn't very far from the house.
This well-maintained home comfortably housed 8 of us for 5 nights. We were able to walk to see the sights and to the metro station only .5 miles away. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. Nice restaurants, taverns, and shopping nearby. Friendly and helpful property manager had everything prepared and explained all of the amenities. We would definitely stay there again!
This is a wonderful old house with plenty of room where we met up with extended family for three nights. We had four adults and three youngsters in our group. There are three bedrooms upstairs; the master bedroom has a private 3/4 bath and a small private balcony overlooking the alley. There is an additional 3/4 bath upstairs with another 1/2 bath downstairs. Skylights provide natural light. Beautiful exposed brick walls and two staircases to the upper level. The stairs in the back of the home are a bit narrow, but not a problem as long as caution is exercised. There are a variety of games available and plenty of tourist information provided in the home. Some attention to detail in the home would improve the overall appearance (shutter panel missing in master bedroom, knobs missing from dressers, previous repairs to master bed frame looked like bed could be unstable, but it was actually solid). The house was clean and worked well for us. Sherman greeted us upon arrival, was very friendly and assured us that we could call him if we needed anything at all. Two vehicles can be parked in the alley behind the house, but if the vehicles are larger in size it can take a bit of maneuvering. A parking pass is available for a third vehicle to park on the street. The neighborhood appeared a bit sketchy at first, but we felt completely safe walking to the grocery store and metro station, day or night. The access code on the front door was nice, allowing us to leave without the hassle of carrying keys and all members of our party could come and go as they pleased. This is an affordable home where a larger family can stay in DC. We could have used more hangers and sturdier ones would be better. There were fans in all of the bedrooms, which I always appreciate. We cooked breakfast two of the three mornings and ordered take out for a couple of meals. D'City Smokehouse is just around the corner and appeared to be a very popular take out spot with the locals. If you enjoy walking as we do, you will find it a pleasant walk to museums, Capitol and other sights; but it's also within a half a mile to the NoMa Calludet metro station.
The house was as described. Sherman was very helpful. He helped us with convenient grocery stores. ( we cooked every night in the fully furnished kitchen)
Sherman recommended busboys and poets for dinner and it was great! The neighborhood seems run down but it was safe. We did not have any trouble.
The metro station is a 10 minute walk which is not bad at all.
I would recommend new sheets and comforters and blankets for bedding.
We had a great time and would stay here again.
A lovely property just as the description says - the pictures do it justice - it is a well maintained, clean property with all the amenities that you could need. I stayed here with my husband, my teenage daughter and my parents and we had a wonderful time. We were met by Sherman on arrival who drove us to the local supermarket to stock up on our essentials - a wonderful welcome and service. The metro station was just a 10 minute walk away and a very convenient way in which to see the City, although you could have walked to the Capital Building if you wanted to. I would certainly recommend a stay here.
