Remodeled 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit in down town Kona

This beautiful remodeled 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit is right in the heart of Kona Village! The complex is right in the middle of town, surrounded by shops, galleries, restaurants and even a nightclub. From the pool deck there is a lovely view of Mokuaikaua, the first Christian church in the Hawaiian Islands. The complex offers secure underground parking.

If you are seeking local markets and historical context, downtown Kailua-Kona is the place to stay for easy access to shopping, businesses, waterfront restaurants and hotels. Watch the people and the cruise ships come and go from the Kailua Pier. Visit the famous Farmer's Market. Enjoy a shave ice or a cup of Kona coffee, have a light snack or a gourmet meal, buy an inexpensive souvenir or a piece of fine art, book an activity, go for a swim or hang out on the many beautiful beaches.

The town of Kailua also "hides" some very important Hawaii Island historic spots. Both the Hulihee Palace and the Mokuaikaua Church are located on Alii Drive. King Kamehameha I spent his last years living near the current site of the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel until his passing in 1819. The Ahuena Heiau, located on the grounds of the hotel, is a reconstructed temple rebuilt by Kamehameha himself and is on the register of National Historic Landmarks.

The Kailua Bay pier is a short 5-minute walk, from which most of the boat excursions on the Big Island's west coast depart (snorkel, whale watch, dinner cruise). The pier is the starting and finishing point of the Ironman World Championship (October) and a great place to watch the sunset.

Up the coast is a busy marina with Hawaii's best scuba diving, big-game fishing, kayaking, dolphin and whale watching and other ocean activities. This unit is a great home base to explore the many wonders of the Big Island including Volcano National Park, Mauna Kea Observatory, coffee and macadamia nut farms, artist communities, and more!

Property was great except for the living room furniture. Wicker sofa and chair were not very comfortable. Location was great with so many activities on the island to explore. We had some interaction with residents who were friendly and helpful. We would return to you this unit or another unit in Kona Plaza.

This building is located smack dab in the center of town, very convenient to shopping, restaurants, night life, etc. The condo is very nice, clean, well furnished. Could use new mattresses in the second bedroom, however. The lanai is large and faces north to the historic church. There is a daycare behind the church that got quite noisy every morning but it wasn't too much of a bother. We enjoyed our stay and the elevaor made things a whole lot easier for our aging backs!

This was our 5th trip back to Kailua-Kona, with the last two stays at the Kona Plaza. We love the location and you can't beat the price. The Plaza has a nice pool that at any given time found us to be the only occupants. The included underground parking is a huge plus, saving the expense of daily parking fees. This condo worked perfectly for two couples. The pictures are very descriptive and accurate. The kitchen is quite small but efficient, and although many kitchen utensils are supplied they, and the cupboards, could use a good scrubbing. We preferred to eat out, but this kitchen would certainly provide for cooking complete meals. The bathrooms/showers provided good water pressure and even temperatures. Bedrooms have excellent closet space and good lighting with ceiling fans. Beds however, are VERY firm and noisy! Any slight movement on the beds creates loud enough squeaks to wake the neighbors! There is plenty of room in the living/dining area and the screened lanai looking over the church courtyard is the perfect spot for morning coffee or evening drinks. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kona Plaza 314!

The location is handy if you want to be downtown. the directions to get there could be a bit more precise like turn at hannera and go to bottom of hill to plaza, drive in and parking garage is on the left. It was very late when we got in and it was difficult to find. The condo was fine overall, except the twin beds in second room were terrible. The one squeaked so back thought it would fall apart. It could use some touches to make you feel more welcome.

I walked into this unit and the view was amazing! The unit was well stocked with everything we might need for our stay. I'm glad we stayed in January because we couldn't find any air conditioning in the unit, that was kind of unfortunate. It is in the absolute heart of town which is nice for walking to shops and Resturants, but it is kind of loud when the lanai doors are open to the ocean views. The interior of the unit can stand for some decluttering and upgrades, but overall the view makes it worth it.

Totally enjoyed our stay. Close to everything and yet quiet. Parking was easy. We got all that was promised inside the unit. A well managed clean complex. One extra Elevator-parking level/Pool key on the other ring would have been an asset(very very minor detail but would have helped). Thanks so much.. will return :)
