Why stay in an overpriced cookie-cutter hotel room in a so-called boutique hotel when you can live the life: 'la vie boheme'? Enjoy this one-of-a-kind 550-sq.ft. columnless studio outfitted with all the modern conveniences, steps from the vibrant life of the East Village with its clubs, shops, bars, and restaurants, yet situated in a quiet building insulated from noise and bright lights. Similar to our 5-star #333327, this apartment has a brand-new whirlpool tub and rainshower in addition! The property is owned and operated by native-born restaurateurs. You will have easy access to everything in Manhattan (two bus lines stop at the corner and a subway station a few blocks away) and live in a real neighborhood with students, artists, and young families. Full kitchen, cable TV/DVD, computer/printer with Internet access, towels, sheets provided. Please consult the calendar for availability BEFORE making a request--our calendar is up-to-date and does not fill until we receive payment.

I would highly recommend this apartment! This is our third stay here. It's spacious, clean, quiet and in a great area. It provides such a nice place to get away from a busy day touring the city. We love the easy access to our neighborhood East Village favorites, Tompkins Square Park, Maiden Lane Café, Café Mogador. This apartment has great amenities, is beautifully maintained, the owner is exceptionally nice and very helpful --always making our stay very pleasant! Thank you Thom!
We have been staying with Thom for one week in Oct 2014. It was a great week and great experience overall.
From the first contact throughout our stay Thom has been very responsive, helpful and meticulously dependable. Compared with other experiences when traveling remote soil, this was a great experience by its own!
We owe several nice experiences in NYC to Thom - thanks to a quick lecture on how to rent bikes in NYC and East Village, a brief cultural review of Broadway shows, and an effective introduction to the perks of East Village.
The studio including kitchen and bathroom are spacious, very clean, and touched by an advertent hand for furnishing. The furniture is nice and all appliances are in good shape. The floor is wood and tiles - which is very nice for coming into a rented apartment. Connecting to the internet was straight forward; there is even a PC (which we have not used) and a printer (which we used once for printing tour tickets:) provided. There is enough space for four (including the luggage) and our boys rated the sleeper sofa comfortable ... We always felt at home waking up for a fresh start into the city with a cup of "home brewed" coffee or returning from the city with tired feet for a last glass of wine.
The neighborhood of East Village turned out to be a great pick for us. The street with the apartment is quiet ... and very quiet in comparison to many other parts of the city. The neighborhood has plenty of mini markets, eateries, and restaurants. City Bikes are around the corner at Tompkins Square, a bike place for day rentals just 10 minutes away. Bus stops are around the corner and the next subway station is about 10 min away - all very convenient for exploring the city.
Overall, this is a definite recommendation.
Dear Thom, thanks again & alles Gute!
Our stayed had to be divided between this apartment and the other one Thom owns ( p354370) because neither apartment were available for 2 weeks straight. We stay 1 week on each apartment because I really wanted to stay at Thom's place, he got the best reviews out there! Thom was very nice to work with me. This place is very different from the p354370, this one is much bigger, more space everywhere, I would even say more luxury. The towels were bigger too, what I loved. The bathroom was huge, the studio style bedroom and TV room together was nice and large. But this studio is really really nice, its exactly like the pictures, but larger! I didn't expect for it to be that big ( since it's NYC) . What I liked was the Kitchen was separate from the bedroom. The kitchen was pretty big too and had everything we needed. Also had coffee, sugar, salt, filtered water.
The neighborhood is very QUIET, I',m a very light sleeper and was concerned about the car noises, but we had none. The place was very clean and the furniture pretty new. Thom leaves a lot of reading material for us for the city. He also taught us how to use the bus system, we were just using Subway and he said we could also use the bus with the same Metrocard ( free) we bought a 7 day unlimited metro card, which worked out very nice. We took the subway EVERYWHERE and then buses too! There are lots of restaurants and mini markets around. I felt very safe walking around the neighborhood even late at night with my boys. We ate ate Eleven B and also order pizza from them, they were very nice and friendly, and the pizza was great! We also ate at the Tompkins bagels ( loved the homemade cream cheese) right on B avenue. Another restaurant we had brunch was at Friends of A Farmer, I Just loved their pancakes! fresh blueberry pancake or the apple one . Its a little far to walk ( 77 Irving Place by East 18th ) and very nice and homey, but a little expensive.
Anyway, I really recommend this place, it's very clean, nice area, quiet and what makes even nicer is that the owner is very nice and very HELFUL and make your stay very pleasant! Thanks for wine and chocolates! I will recommend to all!
Thx Thom!
From the pre-stay correspondence with Thom to the ease of the self-check in procedures, the arrangements were seamless. From the time we arrived at the apartment for our 2 week stay, we were delighted with the spaciousness, cleanliness and comfort of the accommodation. The location in the East Village is a wonderful and convenient base from which to explore New York with great access to the subway and buses. The black book that was provided, as well as access to the computer and printer in the apartment, were fabulous tools to guide us. We particularly enjoyed trying out some of the suggestions for dinner and coffee that were mentioned. We were 1st time visitors to NY, and this information was invaluable. I would absolutely recommend this apartment to anyone coming to New York who wants to stay in a regular neighbourhood away from the major tourist areas, but still within easy travelling distance.

This was a wonderful place to stay and made our NYC visit the most comfortable we’ve experienced! This apartment was perfect. We found the location gave us easy access to all things NYC but also provided a nice neighborhood for casual downtime amid the city--particularly the Tompkins Square Park, local coffee shop and Italian restaurant just down the street. The apartment is very roomy and well appointed—and the bed was especially comfortable particularly after a day of walking the city.
Our host was extremely responsive and provided great information and tips on the neighborhood and city.
I would highly recommend this apartment! Thank you Thom!
This being our first visit to NYC, we wanted to experience a neighborhood. We were delighted with the location of the apartment and its amenities. The bottle of wine on that first night was an especially nice touch and as others have said Thom and Luz are wonderful hosts and take great care of their renters. We loved walking through Tompkins Square Park and thoroughly enjoyed the many restaurants and cafés that are so bountiful in the area. Here are a few not to be missed and within 10 minutes walk : Caracas Arepas (worth waiting for a table), Le Village for dessert (chocolate fondant cake), Café Orlin (for breakfast or lunch, superb food and you can easily spot celebrities), Café Mogador (lamb tagine), Westville Restaurant (everything is good) and Taquieros for great tacos. There are grocery stores, pharmacies, bodegas, delis, wine stores, bakeries, etc within easy walking distance. It was wonderful to return to our relatively calm neighborhood after spending the day in some of the city's busiest areas and attractions. The area is beautiful, lively and open late. Don't miss out on this great place, we will be back ! Thanks again Luz for your help !
One block from historic Tompkins Square Park on the very street made famous by Jonathan Larson in his Tony Award-winning musical 'Rent,' the East Village is filled with a myriad of unique shops, bars, and restaurants. Live in a real international neighborhood with students, artists, and young families with easy access to everything that New York City has to offer. 10 minute walk from L subway at 1st Avenue & 14th Street and 2 bus lines stop on our corner, M14D and M9, connecting you to every subway line every 4-8 minutes. We are proud of our consistent 5-star ratings on #333327 and #354370 which we intend to earn from every single guest on this, our newest property.
