Beautiful, Quiet, Private Cottage with a Great View

5 of 5
Submitted: April 8, 2013 Stayed: March 2013
We enjoyed the wonderful view across treetops decending to the Strait and Port Angeles Harbor, the sense of privacy with only a couple of homes in view, the lights of Victoria at night seen through the living room windows, and the fully outfitted kitchen where we could make ourselves at home. The garden and pasture added to the rural feeling. Just five minutes up the road from Highway 101, so it is convenient, but so quiet.

From the picture windows in the living room/kitchen, we could see ships in the Strait & harbor, the San Juan Islands, and Victoria plus a pasture and forested hills in the foreground. The place was clean and in great shape. In the kitchen, they'd stocked the frig/freezer with condiments and ice as well as provided all the necessary paper goods, aluminum foil, silverware, plates, mugs, etc. Chefs will be pleased with the array of spices, oils, and cookware provided. They'd even provided tea and coffee as well as a gift bottle of wine! If you like the bedroom, bathroom, and living area all different temperatures, that's possible with the in-wall, individual heaters with corresponding thermostats. Bathroom: lots of towels, lotion, hair dryer, jar of swabs, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, etc all provided. Roomy and beautifully-furnished in every room. Only thing we wished for was a wider bed. Stacked washer and dryer in the roomy closet; laundry soap and fabric softener provided. Owners leave you alone, but are friendly. Even a little BBQ and a deck with ironwork chairs and table outside.
Great base from which to explore the region or just sit and watch the fog roll over the Strait or gawk at ships from the comfort of the living area. We want to go back, for sure!

Better than a 5 star hotel!

This was our first time with VRBO. If we use VRBO again, I am not sure any other place could top this one! It was a perfect, quiet get away with an amazing view! Ginny took care of all of our needs, she even let us use her binoculars to see out on the water. The cottage had everything! We were very sad to continue our vacation into seattle at a hotel. We will have to come back and stay longer at this cottage. The hotel did not even compare, and it was a suite!
The cottage was so cozy and decorated perfectly! It was fun to explore the different nick nacks that were displayed. We ate raspberries from the garden. There was a walmart near by for anything we may have forgotten when packing. Didn't really need much more, since Ginny had the bathroom stocked. Shampoo, lotion, hair dryer, etc. We stayed here so that we could visit the beaches on the ocean. I would say it was a 1.5 hour drive to the beaches. Port Angeles is nearby with the ferry to Victoria. This was just a great location to explore the northern part of the olympic pennisula! Ginny recommended some places to go hiking, she seems to know the area well. We were so set on the beaches, though. If we had another day there we would have followed her advice. I guess we will just have to go back! We have already been telling friends and family that they need to stay here! Thanks again for the great stay!!!! You just can't beat staying on the side of a mountain with wonderful views and friendly owners!

Privacy and elegance

5 of 5
Submitted: August 1, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
This is exactly what the Doctor ordered. The property was simple and elegant, comfortable and in an area that invites the outdoors in. The gardens were in bloom, saw deer in the yard. (although the locals aren't always too happy about that event.)
Had privacy and yet close to town for activities.
Ginny and Roger were friendly and so were the dogs. They keep the property spotless and well-maintained. We could have breakfast at home, great coffee. We could have stayed another 4 days, but had to move on to Lake Crescent for a wedding. We ate at Bella Italia, good food and atmosphere and Chef Garden ( not sure if that is the correct name) had a delightful seafood pot pie.
Would definitely recommend to friends.
