This apartment is located in the basement of the rental property. It is definitely "crisp, clean and comfy" until it rains. During our stay I was sleeping in the master bedroom with my young daughter when we were woken up at 1:30 a.m. by drops of water falling on our heads, soaking pillows and the mattress underneath. Upon turning on the lights, we discovered a second leak coming from the ceiling that was dripping into my suitcase that I had placed at the foot of the bed. As I'm scrambling around looking around for a bucket or a container to catch the water, I am faced with 1/2 inch of water covering the floor in the entry/kitchen area. The rain subsided, and the leaks stopped, but we still needed to relocate to another room and attempt to fall asleep. The following morning I made a phone call to the owner to inform him of the water and possible damage, and he pretended to be surprised – like this had never happened before - and mentioned something about getting some gutter work done. He did apologized for the inconvenience, but never offered to assess the damage to the ceiling or the floor. It was very obvious to me that this had happened before due to the peeling paint in the bedroom, and lifted tiles in the kitchen floor. I stayed out the week – all the while hoping for no rain. I also left the bucket that saved his mattress; it held two inches of rain water. I feel the owner of this property rents to people fully knowing that the ceiling leaks and water comes into the kitchen. I’m sure he hopes for no rain too. I for one will not rent from him again.
