Our Calendar HOME!

  • 5 of 5
Three siblings with siblings-in-law, two adult children and a spouse, and two 4-leggeds converged from several areas across the country at the Calendar House for a week-long reunion, honoring our recently deceased parents as we gathered for their interment and life celebration. We could not have been more at home, more comfortable, or more grateful under one roof, anywhere on the planet, it seems. Lincoln has provided a casual elegance rarely found in vacation homes. The place is steeped in history, and felt in every corner and space of the home. The great room, with its more than impressive fireplace at its center is a place you actually never want to leave. But at bedtime, the sleeping rooms boast similar comfort, and plenty of space. It was warm and cozy, even on a couple of chillier nights. There was plenty of hot water, great state-of-the-art appliances, and ample room to spread out and get lost, when that need was felt. It is amazingly well-appointed, and as a cook and entertainer, I would need at least a month there to utilize all the great dining and serving appointments, close at hand. We had the sense of being well-cared for, knowing that Lincoln is always close-at-hand, yet with complete privacy and asense of being in our own home. There was chopped firewood galore, for the inside and for the fabulous outdoor fire circle, which we enjoyed on a beautiful, clear, starry-starry night on the sweeping front lawn, which seems to go on for acres!

Elizaville is far from the madding crowd, and just close enough to some of the finest areas of the Mid-Hudson Valley. The Elizaville Deli and Diner are a hop, skip, and jump away, and are undoubtedly two of the best-kept secrets, in the known world. Rhinebeck, Red Hook, and Hudson, are near, where great shopping, arts, and cuisine abound. The Hudson River Walkway is a must-see for non-locals; there's Woodstock and New Paltz to name a couple more great visiting spots, the Shawangunk Mountains, and Manhattan is less than a picturesque two hour ride, along the Hudson River, by train.

We highly recommend the Calendar House for any need you might have. As a retired event manager, I would absolutely recommend it for weddings, private parties, or corporate events. The perfectly flat grounds, will accommodate very large tents, so the sky's the limit. You'll find everything you need at The Calendar House 1773.

We've definitely found our new home-away-from-home in the Mid-Hudson Valley!

Beautiful , peaceful house

  • 5 of 5
Thank you Lincoln for a wonderful stay. The house is very spacious but cozy at the same time. The giant fireplace makes for a wonderful night of fun all by itself. The location was a good mix of secluded but very easy to get to the main road and red hook is very close. Lincoln was very responsive when we had questions. If you are going up for the weekend in the fall, I recommend making restaurant reservations in advance. The cellphone reception is not great at the house but that just adds to that feeling of getting away from it all

Wedding

  • 5 of 5
The place is great! The house is old, feels comfortable and has a great "lived in" feel to it, you can really sense the history of the Hudson Valley while there. The grounds are great and there is a nice view of the Catskills to watch a sunset. We rented the property for our Wedding and Lincoln was a master coordinator in terms of permits and working with the town, he really went to the extreme to make sure our event went off without a hitch! He recommended several vendors (for the party tent, caterers etc...) many of whom he has an established relationship. These large items were dropped off, positioned and setup with his help, all we had to do was call the company and send them the check. The house speaks for itself in terms of the worth, the property manager makes the cake! I would recommend this property to anyone for any reason!

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5
We came to the Calendar because my brother was having his wedding in Rye and we needed a place big enough for the rest of the nuclear family without getting in each others way. This place really served the purpose. The rooms are large and furnished with ample supply of towels and basic toiletries. The kitchen had all we needed to prepare food for the rehearsal dinner. The location is away from the city so if you plan to go to the city rent a car. My family found a home away from home. Our best moments were in the dinning room. There were times we relaxed outside under the shed. The weather was also nice and cool. I will come again as it is a place so close to nature and relaxing at the same time. The game room is so cool with a nice pool table. I wish I had more time at the Calendar house. Well that means I need to come back. Thanks Lincoln for sharing your home with us.
