Bellanina Guest House is located in the heart of Ann Arbor's historic Kerrytown District and one block from Bellanina Day Spa. This exclusive residence is on the second floor of a 160 year old home surrounded by antique perennials and across from Kerrytown Shops and Market and the famed Kerrytown Farmer's Market (open Wednesdays & Saturdays in season). The area is vibrant with life and activity. With the Kerrytown Concert House next door, classical and jazz music often escapes their confines and fills the Guest House! Our floors are creaky but are covered in Natural Seagrass flooring and antique oriental rugs. The charm of this house keeps regulars, such as parents of kids at U of M or those coming for football weekends coming back. It becomes their home away from home. We have housed many professors for short and extended stays or couples come to escape their work-a-day world in search of a little peace and quiet from the kids and a night on the town.
Bellanina Day Spa & Spa Amenities: Bellanina Day Spa & Gift Boutique is a sister company, located one block South on Fourth Avenue. My life is ruled by my dog, Ling-Ling. I never thought a 4 1/4 pound dog could have such power over me! When I am not playing with her, I am busy running 3 Guest Houses in Ann Arbor, and being Co-Owner of Bellanina Day Spa (one block south of this location) or Bellanina Instiute (located on the first floor of this Kerrytown location). I travel a lot teaching a wonderful anti-aging technique called Bellanina Facelift Massage, to massage therapists, estheticians at spas and resorts around the country. My dog, Ling-Ling and I call North Carolina mountains my home but travel back and forth to Ann Arbor, enjoying my time in one of my three Bellanina Guest Houses. What a life!
Nina Howard purchased this house in 2003
I rented this property in 1994 on the first floor and began working out of my home offering massage and facelift massage. I also painted abstract art in the front room of the first floor. As time went on, this building turned into a Spa and I took over the second floor. Now, a couple of decades later, this building has re-invented itself and houses an apartment upstairs and the offices to the Institute and Spa downstairs. This property has been a gift to me and allowed me to re-invent my businesses over and over again!
Unique benefits in Kerrytown - the list is long:
Kerrytown Concert House next door (I've listened to Wynton Marsalis LIVE while lounging in bed sipping champagne); The Farmer's Market across the street; Kerrytown Shops and great food, shopping and cappucinos; Zingerman's a block away; Bellanina Day Spa down the street - A MUST FOR R & R!
We're up for the weekend from Hamilton, Ohio to enjoy and rekindle the sites of Ann Arbor and attend football game with Penn State under the lights. We enjoyed the cozy and comfortable apartment - such a great location! We hope to return. GO BLUE! Thank you for sharing this apartment with us.
We loved our stay in this cute and comfortable apartment! I would highly recommend to other travelers. Great location for walking and entertainment, with good restaurants close by.
I can't imagine a nicer place to stay - cozy, close to everything - and stocked with everything I could possibly need. Thank you for the wonderful apartment - and I also visited your spa - which was STELLAR. All best to you.
Nina is an amazing host, and the apartment is beautiful. The location is in perfect walking distance to shops and restaurants, I recommend Zimmermans for breakfast.
I am a repeat customer, and highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in Ann Arbor!
We stayed here for five day and quite enjoyed it.
- The location was perfectly located in Kerrytown, which was a wonderful mixture of shops and restaurants.
- The small flat was very comfortable, with great amenities of home, coffee maker, toaster, fridge, a cute bathroom, the layout was very European. Even though there was no stove, we were able to make due with the combination of a hot plate and toaster oven.
- Having access to free off street parking came in very handy
- wifi, stereo and television were perfect.
- high quality linens and towels as well as health and beauty products were added bonus
- The place was quiet as was the neighbourhood
- the little porch patio at the front was a relaxing place to sit and watch the world go by
- The Weds and Saturday Farmers market across the street was delightful, fresh food and crafts of all sorts to be had
- storage space was adequate
- the owner was magnificent to deal with, promptly answering any questions and flexible
Overall, we would defiantly recommend it in the fortune to friends and family
Very nice location opposite the old farmers market (worth visiting on Saturday) on walking distance to the centre, restaurants and bars. All the way from the Netherlands visiting our son it feels like your own cosy apartment, well equiped, very good kingsize bed!
My husband, 4yo daughter, and I recently returned to Ann Arbor for a retirement party and stayed in this classic Ann Arbor house. The apartment is the upstairs portion of a house with a private entrance. It was spacious and comfortable and reminded us of our time in Ann Arbor. Located across the street from the farmer's market, Zingerman's Deli, Sweetwaters Coffee, and other great shopping, you can't get any better than this. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Ann Arbor!
