This is a great place for family reunions or group gatherings. Besides the guest house there are two bunkies right close to the house with comfortable beds - one has two twins and the other has a double and a single. The bedding is not supplied for these so have to bring sleeping bags or your own sheets, blankets. Much better than a tent! We also allow campers and tents on the property so that large families or groups of friends can have fun together. There's a great campfire sight right on the property with no restrictions on how late you stay up. We do encourage families and mature adults who want to have fun and enjoy naure BUT don't want excessive partying potentially causing damage to all the antiques in the house and around the property. The barn on the property is equipped with horse stalls so riders are encouraged to come and stay and ride the trails. This is a wildlife haven just waiting to be explored and enjoyed!
I'm a strong believer in good forest management and think about the generations to follow. My property has mature hardwoods, with pine and hemlock. Includes plantations of white pine ,red pine and walnut. I work hard at culling out the dead, dying and diseased, and obvious trees that should be harvested. The sale of these logs help pay for the many expenses of running a property like this. I use a four wheel drive tractor, with a winch to keep damage to the land at a minimum. We burn wood in our house, cabins, work shop, hunt camp, and wood can be used in the guest house to supplement the heat pump.I practice wild life management, and erosion control.I collect antiques, old farm implements and antique farm tools, our forefathers used. I love nature, history and improving my propery . We make maple syrup the old fashioned way with buckers and spiles and burning wood to boil the sap down to syrup..I enjoy people and like to share my property to those who are interested.I like to see people have a good time and am glad to spend time with them if they wish.
Douglas Dennis purchased this house in 1969
This is and has been our family home and property since 1969. I've just retired and want to share the beauty of the property with others.
Privacy and being able to drink and have fun around a campfire at night and not worry that you're going to be told to shut it down. We encourage guests to have fun and enjoy the outdoors as long as it's done with respect.
