Welcome to the village of Howth, situated on an impressive peninsula on the north Dublin coast. The apartment at One St. Lawrence Quay is superbly located with panoramic views overlooking the lighthouse and piers of Howth Harbour as well as Howth Yacht Club. The apartment provides an idyllic, relaxing environment in the heart of the village, yet close proximity to Dublin furnishes all the amenities of a capital city: shopping, museums, art galleries, theatres, restaurants and pubs. For your convenience, city train and bus stations can be found just minutes from St. Lawrence Quay’s front door.
Howth itself is home to many delights that have made it a perennial favorite for locals and visitors alike, among them: towering cliffs, a charming village, abbey ruins and the vast acreage, rhododendrons and dolmen of Howth Castle and Demesne. The village is also known throughout Dublin for its great nightlife, from gregarious pubs - notably the Abbey Tavern - to an array of gourmet restaurants.
Photographers have long delighted in the great photographic opportunities that abound in the picturesque scenery of the peninsula. Howth’s Bailey Lighthouse, one of the first sites of Ireland seen when arriving by plane or by sea, has been welcoming travelers for generations. Walkers and hikers ready to scale the 560 feet of Howth Head are sure to enjoy panoramic vistas of Dublin Bay, described by H.G. Wells as "the most wonderful view in the world." And sailors and yachtsmen can discover their own delights in the constant buzz of the Howth Harbour.
Golf enthusiasts, in particular, have long considered Howth a golfer's dream. Three courses can be found on the peninsula: Deer Park Golf Course, Howth Golf Course and Sutton Golf Links. Nearby Bull Island offers St. Ann's Golf Links and Royal Dublin Golf Links, while the championship course of Portmarnock, not to mention the area’s lovely velvet strand, are found within a ten-minute drive. Visitors heading in that direction will also come upon the quaint village of Malahide, reknowned for its ambiance and coastal location, pubs and restaurants and historic Malahide Castle .
So come and enjoy all that there is to discover on the Howth Peninsula. One St. Lawrence Quay comfortably sleeps four adults with full-service kitchen, bath, laundry and parking facilities. Failte! We look forward to having you!
We spent two weeks in Howth at this location in August 2011. We found the village charming and the apartment very well located near the Dart and close to restaurants and small groceries. We were able to travel to Dublin and other locations very easily. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a restful area with the ability to hike the area around Howth or easily visit Dublin and other areas nearby.
This apartment was the perfect size and well-situated for my visit to Dublin. On this trip, it was just me and my husband in the one bedroom, but the sleeper sofa in the family room could easily accommodate another guest or two if need be. The place was very safe, secured by two keypad entry doors, as well as very neat and tidy. For families with small children, there is a tot lot across fromt eh building. The owner was very helpful and easy to deal with in making my arrangements and has a local resident maintain the apartment between bookings, Four star service!
Dublin is a fast-paced city, and with Howth just a short train ride from the city center, you get to enjoy some down time away from all the hustle and bustle. For those from the States, Howth is a charming seaside village along the lines of Annapolis, MD or any fishing town/community you'd find in the Northeast. Though away from downtown Dublin, there are still plenty of places to visit, eat at, and enjoy in Howth. It's a real gem right on the ocean!
