Photos and Description of the Kekaha vacation cottage rental
Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)

Tradewinds Cottage's classic Hawaiian environment is the paradise you've been searching for!

Kauai's chronically sunny west side, with dry sunny days, offers several of the state's best beaches, the breathtaking natural beauty of Waimea Canyon, the unexpected splendor of Kokee State Park and views so stunning of the rugged Na Pali coast you'll forget to get your camera out. For adventurous travelers, Kauai's west coast serves as a launching point for world-class hiking, boating, sport fishing, surfing and helicopter tours of the island's interior. If you're looking for peace and quiet, take a short walk to the beach with a towel, a book, a drink, your favorite person or all the above to watch the sunset over Ni'ihau, Hawaii's Forbidden Island. Inside, you'll feel like you stepped into a dream.

If you haven't gotten enough relaxation during the day, put your suit on and let the jacuzzi melt away your stress.

Further Details: Situated on a private deck, the jacuzzi is a perfect way to savor your vacation. And if you're out at night, don't forget to lean your head back and look up at the stars -- they look like they're just just beyond arm's reach. Or you could light the outdoor grill to start a memorable meal with your loved ones. Whether you've been out and about or nearby, you will look forward to coming home to Tradewinds Cottage.

Also nearby is Port Allen, Kauai's west side port, where you can sign up for a sunset cruise or an ocean-bound tour of the Na Pali Coast, both memorable and exciting side trips. Whether you want to picnic or hike, or just ponder Kauai's natural beauty, drive to the top of Kauai, accessible from the towns of Waimea and Kekaha. Driving up to Kokee State Park will take you past what Mark Twain called ''The Grand Canyon of the Pacific''.

Tradewinds Cottage offers a full kitchen and a washer and dryer to make your stay more pleasant.

The gracious interior invites conversation over dinner or drinks with friends and family with an open floor layout between the living room, dining room and kitchen. Louvered windows let the trade winds blow through the house, a constant reminder you're in Hawaii.

You can keep up, if you desire, with what's going on in the rest of the world with cable TV and free Wi-Fi internet. If you're in Kauai to work, there is plenty of space to spread out, a phone, a good internet connection, and services nearby.

You will enjoy your stay at Tradewinds Cottage whether you have a week, a month, or longer to spend on Kauai. Many of our guests are repeat visitors and will attest to how pleasant their stay was. You, like them, will reflect on the ocean side sunsets over the island of Ni'ihau, the timeless surfers riding the timeless waves, and discovering your personal favorite spots around the island. Your only regret will be leaving.

Even better than we thought it would be!

Your house was FANTASTIC. We've visited Hawaii often enough now to really appreciate the quieter islands, and your place is in a quieter part of a beautiful island. We loved the fresh fruit (oranges and mangoes, picked from your trees), and also the privacy afforded by the trees around your lot. Your house is extremely well-maintained, everything was very clean, and the furnishings and style of the house were made for relaxation. We took your advice about driving to the beach at the far end of the road (out past the missile base), and we weren't disappointed. From the description, we thought this would be a great place to stay, and this house was even better than we'd expected. Thank you!

The cottage is located in a residential neighborhood about a minutes walk down to a beach where you can have front row seats to sunsets over Nihue.

The back lani is fenced and very private. It has a hot tub, bbq and table. The access to the lani is through the master bedroom. The master bedroom is air-conditioned and has a real comfortable bed. The windows allow the tradewinds to cool the home which was spotless upon our arrival. The TV is a small flat screen, basic cable and a DVD player. More than adequate.

In a week's worth of access the free wireless Internet was superb without any hitch whatsoever.

A hedge of sorts also offer privacy to the yard which has plumeria, lime, orange and other trees. The limes and oranges were great .. best fresh squeezed juices we have had.

Sure its a car ride into Waimea .. but its only a few minutes. Sweet Lomi Massage, Isihara Market's poke, the Shrimp Station's coconut shrimp and JoJo's (the one in the brown building on the main street across from the high school field) No. 2 Shave Ice Combination with Mac Ice Cream are musts.

St. Teresa's is a short walk down the road for Mass and the congregation and community are most accommodating to visitors.

Yes, you can hear chickens, and birds and dogs and every now and then a neighbor .. you aren't in a vault. You are in a neighborhood. None, however, is distracting. Lets just say it adds to the charm.

The beach in Kekaha is great for sunning .. but we found the snorkeling at Salt Ponds near Hanapepe to be our favorite ocean activity - well short of surfing in Hanalie Bay - but that is a 90 minute car ride away. Salt Ponds is only a few minutes past Waimea and offers protected easy and rewarding snorkeling. Friday nights in Hanapepe are Arts Nights .. and there is also often some great local dishes available to sample as well. Give it a try.

Ok, look you aren't in Poipu, its not Princeville, and not Lihue, You are in your own private relaxing corner of Kauai. Just call it "base".. if you want to run about to other parts of the island .you can -- . and yes we did. But, know you can always come back to Tradewinds... for fresh orange juice, or maybe a mai tai (get the premixed rum and fruit juice local Kauai brand at Costco), listen to an Iz CD, soak in the hot tub . .. smell the plumeria .. and enjoy the beauty of tropical sunset.

Its a lovely, relaxing base .. choose to adventure forth .. or not. It's your call.

Exceeded Expectations

We spent 2 fantastic weeks at Tradewinds Cottage in February and highly recommend both the accommodation and the location. It was much larger than expected and in a quiet residential neighborhood. The hot-tub was a nice bonus as were the various fruit trees. This is definitely the sunny side of the island with many beaches nearby, but we especially enjoyed Salt Pond as it was uncrowded and had great snorkelling close to shore. The Shrimp Shack is well worth a visit for seafood lovers, and Waimea Canyon is breathtaking. Scott was very professional and pleasant to deal with and we would happily book this cottage again.

We LOVE this cottage. It is so cozy and comfortable. Kauai is such a gorgeous place. The lookout over the Na Pali Coast was incredible..not to mention the Waimea Canyon. Polihale Beach and Hanalei Bay were fantastic as well.
Thanks so much for having us.
